Summary: A universe unto itself!!!!!!!
Review: I've read Heinlen's books over and over and am of the opinion that he is among the "great ones of science fiction". However, if he were not already, this book would have catapulted him to such a status. No Sci-fi library is complete without i

Summary: The seminal science fiction novel and an American classic.
Review: Fundamental to an appreciation of 20th century America, scince fiction in general, and a penetrating commentary on the human condition, Stranger in a Strange Land stands out most as entertainment. Having read and reread the book dozens of times as a child, adolescent and adult, I never fail to gain some new perspective and insight from this powerful novel. Favorite characters and passages delight me each time I pick up a copy; the list of favorites expands with each reading. The character of Jubal Harshaw is one of the most effectively realized in all literature; if I could exercise the familiar fantasy, he is the fictional character I would chose to bring to life and share a meal with

Summary: More insight to human nature than any author I know.
Review: On politics, Heinlein said that anyone who wanted to be in politics should not be allowed. He said that the job should be filled by drafting people. Congress should be allowed 100 laws and if they wanted a new one they would have to repeal another. I loved his "true witness." When asked what color a house was, the "true witness" said, "It's white on this side." I have read all of his books that I can find. I felt the loss when he died as though he were a close relative. If you never read another SF book, this one is a must.

Summary: Stranger in a Strange Land is a "MUST READ" !!
Review: Philosopical, thought provoking, and written with the genius of a masterful storyteller, Stranger in a Strange Land has proven to be the measure by which all science fiction is rated. Written during the chaotic 60's, "Stranger" as most fans have affectionately called Roberth Heinlein's classic science fiction, created a stir in the literary community that resounded from the walls of social 'boredom' to catapult the world of science fiction into a viable literary form. Today, "Stranger" is as philosophically powerful and entertaining as the first day it hit the public market. Its moving story of Michael Valentine Smith captures the imagination of dreamers, stimulates the minds of philosophers, and speaks to the hearts of romantics and adventurers alike. Cast into a social order he did not understand, Michael weaves his way into the hearts of humans with a Martian philosophy of the purest forms of 'Love' and 'Understanding'. If you love Science Fiction, Adventure, or Romance, and have not read 'Stranger in a Strange Land', you have missed the most important classic literature of this century.

Summary: A forgotten classic...
Review: My all time favorite book in any category! This book examines the true meaning of "human". After reading it, you will not perceive certain aspects of life the same ever again. One of Heinlein's early works, before he turned to a heavier style. Acclaimed and blasted by critics in its time, this book is a forgotten classic

Summary: This book has something for everyone.
Review: Robert Heinlein wrote this "science-fiction" book thirty-some years ago, but it won't seem quite so fantastic in this day and age. This book covers an amazing array of social topics within a spell-binding, epic tale. If you distrust our government...If you think the Crystal Palace is just another bunch of glass...If you believe in Martians...If you know that humans (Einstein, included) have failed to achieve their full potential...If you long for clues to understanding relationships between people...this book will speak to you.

Summary: Sci-Fi giving directions to human race. Amazing !
Review: "Stranger" is above all, a great lesson for each of us. No more standards, no more patterns. Author's faith in love is above all. No prejudices or social controls. What a world... Masterpiece

Summary: Feed your brain--read this book!
Review: The text of this book worms itself into your brain, flossing out the trivial and dusty corners and makes you rexamine the basic tenets of your life. Even the simple concepts that children are inculcated with , things like the definition of love, or family are turned around, skewed in such a way that you no longer know what they mean. It's also a ripping good yarn with a spellbinding plot, fascinating characters and a heartbreaking conclusion. If you read science fiction and haven't read this book, you are in for a treat. I often wish that I haven't read it, just so that I could have the pleasure of discovering it again.

Summary: No wonder it started a cult!
Review: From the ludicrous statement of "A Martian named Smith," spoken out of hand in an article about science fiction, Robert Heinlein weaved a tale about the consequences of encountering alien life - and coming home. Valentine Michael Smith, born of woman, but raised by Martians, not only created panic, hysteria, and a new way of life in his fictional world, but in our own, by shattering the barriers of human thought on matters of life, love, and religion. As the Martian - raised human explored the alien world called Earth in search for the meaning of life, he called on us to examine our values. When Robert Heinlein died in 1988, he took one of the most inciteful, entertaining minds with him. May the seeds he planted in his stories, like STRANGER, continue to bloom in the millenia ahead

Summary: Anyone with a functional brain should read his work.
Review: Heinlein is the quintessential intellectual of the 20th century. He writes the truth without sugar coating. You can't help but like it because the simple truth really is enjoyable. Though some of his novels are weak, _Stranger_ is anything but. With powerful emotion and excellent story telling Heinlein offers a perfect review of humanity.
