Summary: LORD OF THE BARNYARD LIVING IN NEW YORK
Review: Having had some interest in what exactly is going on, i picked up Fight Club to see if maybe it had something what i thought it might. Its fitting that this book be made into a movie and with its title Fight Club,, perhaps there might a chance that those who dont touch books (remember, this book is aimed at those that dont read, and if youve read it, and think its aimed at you, youre wrong) might go see the movie just because it has the work fight in it and maybe, they might start thinking. Maybe, as it seems to be intended, it might turn things up a bit. In short, through this book in the Shop classes of High School.

Summary: Excellent look at post modern society
Review: Chuck Palahniuk is on his way to becoming a writer of the 21st century. A disturbing look at society today follows that of an insomniac suffering depression. He finds salvation and doom in that of Tyler Durden, a soap making outcast who forms a club with the insomniac. Fight Club where men beat each other fist to fist in raw matches testing one's strength. This book is dark, unflinching, and breaks all barriers of what would happen in our society if it were to break down. The fight club eventually elevates beyond the men's control and becomes a nationwide movement. This is probably one of the best books ever written. I can't wait for David Fincher's film.

Summary: A MUST READ FOR INTELLIGENT GROWNUPS
Review: A wonderful book - but pretty unnerving to read in these post-Columbine times. Palahniuk is obviously a very gifted writer. He gives us all this amazing, surrealistic imagery; palpable rage; a taught, well-crafted story. I'll definitely see the movie and look forward to future books. Two questions for the author, though: 1) Why the gimmicky ending? It seemed totally unnecessary and contrived. 2) Are you aware that there is no such thing as a Cadillac Corniche? Corniche is a Rolls Royce nameplate. Oh, yeah, one more thing: unless I missed something, I believe that the book was set in Chicago(?) There would not be a street with an NE in the address (like NE Paper Street). Also, Meigs Field is for private planes only. None of this is meant as criticism - I read EVERY WORD of this book, and details other than these just seemed so perfect.

Summary: Two-thirds of a good book
Review: I think Pahldfufhfudhniuk has a great idea here, and Tyler is a compelling creation. But it seems that the author doesn't know quite what to do with his jacked-up world, and it all sloughs off like soap that didn't quite congeal.

That said, the movie should be great--I'm sure David Fincher and friends will fit it with a better ending than the author himself did. Ironic.

Summary: It's about time..........
Review: It's about time someone let those "have-it-all-Wall Street-Ikea-right car-bastards" know how those of us bartenders, waiters, service people feel. Anyone in Manhattan want to get together and discuss how this book shakes you up?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: a savory book
Review: Palahniuk's Fight Club comes at such a memorable time. Right when the world seems to be seeping into an 'abyss' of tedious monotony, Palahniuk hits us with a novel that both mesmorizes and intrigues the mind. Not until you complete the last page do you fully understand Palahiuks views, nor will you understand how brutally modern this book really is. His sharp commentary raises brilliant social question ('hell or nothing...') rendering the reader both helpless and disillusioned by his words. Palahniuk's first novel is nothing but brilliant. In a world that is continually falling into what is indescribable (or indesirable), Palahniuk invites us on a journey into the next millenium.

Summary: The most ingenious book ever written
Review: This novel is the best of it's kind. I found myself unable to put it down and actually became obsessed with it. It lacked nothing and had everything you could look for in a novel. The movie will be just as great, Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are two of the most talented actors out there. Come October 15 I know where I'll be.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: A confidence booster for aspiring writers
Review: The book is a good one for aspiring writers since it shows how little talent is truly required to be successful. I was reminded while reading it of "Less Than Zero" by Brett Ellis, another version of nihilistic and ultimately worthless fiction. No good will come of this book except to the writer, the publisher and the owner of the movie rights. The book and movie are sure to influence society to be an even more unpleasant place. Just what we needed, another blockbuster story about nihilistic terror.
