Summary: A 16-year-old girl's opinion
Review: I'm kind of disappointed most of the reviews here are written by guys, so I'd like to express my opinion. This book ROCKS. I have to admit I saw the movie first, which I loved, and I just finished reading the book, which I love even more, for the 3rd time. Funny in a disturbing kind of way, this book is a witty, perceptive satire on today's society. The story is so dynamic with so many funny observations, it's easy to read in one go and hard to put down. Definitely 9.5/10.

If you liked Fight Club and want to read another Palahniuk book, I recommend Survivor, which is kind of written in the same style and is also extremely entertaining.

Summary: The movie was better
Review: Fight club the book is not equal to fight club the movie. The book is decent in and of itself, but on screen is when the characters brought to life (maybe my imagination just sucks), even the script for the movie, which was changed a bit from the book, was better than the book. Chuck does gets props for originating this strange, dark story,
but if you've seen the movie
skip the book
if you haven't seen the movie, then you might want to read the book, then watch the movie, for a better appreciation of the movie.

Summary: An excellent piece of literature, well worth reading
Review: This is a cleverly written book, original and amusing, written in its own unique style, with its own offbeat philosophy. A book well worth reading.

It appeals to the non-conformist rebel in us all, as we are confronted with a bland world that we did not create and which requires us to conform, even if participation in the world works to our disadvantage or bores us witless. Why conform? The rebel makes his own entertainment. The rebel doesn't conform. The rebel lashes out at society. The rebel strikes back.

Summary: Still new
Review: Palahniuk has a voice like no other. While his output might be considered uneven by some, had he written only FIGHT CLUB, he would have sealed his reputation as a great writer.

The premise and outline alone of this book makes it so unique that it should be studied just for that. But throw in Palahniuk's genius for character developement which it tied to the plot and setting, and you've got a book like no other.

This is one of the top ten books you have to read. And the movie was great also.

Also recommended: Tears of the Giraffe and McCrae's Bark of the Dogwood

Summary: The right book at the right time.
Review: Mischief
Mayhem
Soap

The tagline of the movie pretty much says it all. Fight Club came alone at the perfect time for me. I was cursed with a very picky taste for literature, and Fight club fit my Palette almost perfectly. Among the themes of Fight Club my favorite I think is the loss of signifigance among the Blue-Collar American male. My Father was one and several important men in my life are, so that aspect of the book spoke to me personally more than any other. "We have no great War." tyler Says. "No great depression.
"Our great War is a spiritual War, our great depression, is our lives."

If you take the plunge into this book, do so with an open mind. Its funny, Its Dark, its Crazy, but unless you read it with an open mind, you will get nothing out of it. I end this review with a quote.

"I want you to hit me as hard as you can."

Summary: Some things should not be talked about...
Review: You're here because someone broke the rules. Somebody told you about Fight Club.
Well, the first rule about Fight Club is that we don't talk about Fight Club.
And the second rule about Fight Club is that we don't talk about Fight Club.
So, stop having a sneaky peeky in here, y'all. Go buy yourselves a copy. You'll be glad you did.
And obey the rules, people. They're there for a purpose.
Enough said.
Hugs,
Big Bob

PS: If you loved the book, try 'The Wasp Factory' by Iain Banks. You'll like that too.

Summary: Fight Club
Review: I really enjoyed this book even though I saw the movie first. I would recomend this book to anyone who has ever felt that things weren't what they thought they were. You really should read the book first because there are differences. The world of Tyler Durden is full of intrege and intellegent thought. What he helps the men realize is that they are not special and that they are not what society wants them to be. If you have ever felt trapped by the consumerism that the world pushes on you just lash out and quit buying all that garbage. You really start to feel the same way Tyler feels towards the rest of the world. This is an emotionally charged ride with many ups and downs. I really recommend this book to all and will read it many more times in the future.

Summary: Quick, really fun read
Review: If you have never seen the movie I highly recommend reading the book first. Both are great but I think I would have appreciated the novel a bit more without having the characters from the movie in my mind. I am a huge fan and would say that this is his best work behind lullaby, which is my personnal favorite.

Summary: Anti-consumer/materialic tone poem
Review: Fight Club is an amazing work of literature. It's subversive, entertaining and oddly lyrical, too -- not to mention full of true feeling. It has an undercurrent of rage and loneliness and sadness and loss -- and a hatred of our consumer/mind-numbingly materialistic society. The author uses repetition (of key lines and ideas) extremely well. This book is not a simple entertainment, but a rumination of our spiritual emptiness -- just a genuine work of art. Reading Fight Club will leave a mark on your life. I guarantee it. Other recent books I enjoyed: WILL@epicqwest.com by Tom Grimes, The Losers' Club by Richard Perez

Summary: Brilliantly written and entertaining!!!
Review: If you tire of the same Stephen King predictable novels and Tom Clancy shoot 'em ups, then pick up "Fight Club."That is exactly what I did on the advice of a friend and have since finished "Survivor" and started "Choke".

"Fight Club" is by far the best book I have ever read in my 17 years of life. You will be entranced by the odd and sometimes disturbing activities of our narartor and Tyler Durden. As the novel opens, we are brought into the life of a mysterious and sleep deprived young man, searching for something to fill a hole in his life that his dead-end job can't.
Enter Tyler Durden, who will take the narator and us on an endless ride into the darkest reachs and most basic urges of the human mind;touching base with the simple fact that sometimes, we all need to beat the living crap out of someone else.
As the story moves along, Tyler opens more and more fight clubs as the craze hits the underground US.The book takes an ending so surprising you may have to read the book twice!!!

So if you want to read a simply amazing book, GO GET "FIGHT CLUB!!!"
