Summary: refreshing
Review: Wow. This novel is, pretty much, a fantasy for those who long for something more beyond the average spectrum of american life. In other words, some may be offended by this book, some amused by this book, and some inspired by this book. 'Fight Club' deals with nilhilism, which is the idea that socity must be torn down in order for mankind to progress, and with the idea of implementing this philosphy into today's urban and corporate america. However heavy this theme sounds, 'Fight Club' is quite entertaining and, at times, hilarious. If you haven't seen the movie, read the book first. If you've seen the movie, read the book anyway, it explains the plot a litle more and goes into greater depth with the character development of 'Marla.' Bottom line, read it. Just don't ... in my soup.

Summary: The movie was better
Review: This was a good book and did offer a few scenes that were funny and didnt make it into the movie, but overall I think the movie was alot better. The two were very very similar as far as plot goes, and even tho the narrative in the book was interesting it just didnt really hold my interest as much as the movie did. They're both excellent tho, and provide a unique point of view on the world that everyone should be opened up to. Read this and watch the movie.

Summary: Fight Club
Review: This isnt a book with words and a plot. Its poetry. Its one of the most beautiful words you will ever encounter. Chuck is a genious, I think he goes by a pen name but that is what makes him so much more exciting. Its twisted yet understandable. Like one of my favorite lines is , "This is your life and its ending one second at a time" And the way he narrates stories making everything so vauge but detailed enough when you get to the climax of one of his stories. Its not about men beating each other up because they hate the world of consumers and such. Its about life and its all the things everyone else had on the tip of their tounge but could never articulate it. It was always there but never said. I cant explain the gratitude I have for this book or how mentally i am in love with the author but it seems that tyler durdan is the messiah of the lost children of the turn of the millenium. waking us up. I think that if you spend any ten dollars on a book most def spend it on this book to this day the words fog my mind and i cant think of anything but fight club when i am on a plane in a hotel in a taxi or even as something as normal as crossing the street. I am forever lost in its text and its not text at all but poetry like jewels flowing from your mouth and haunting your brain for the rest of your life. If you dont buy this book, you will just be like everyone else, lost in your black oblivion of your tiny desk cubical well have fun or try to do something real. Ever since this book i wanted insomnia like the main character of the book, hehe. Every time I read this book there is something more I notice, something more to haunt me. The girl slept as she the inarticulate words were slowly engraved on her mind forever. As the silver blue moon recognized the once in a lifetime experience. Buy this book, like a spacemonkey shot into space.

Summary: Easy read, thought provoking
Review: This was the first Chuck P. book that I have ever read. I must say that I enjoyed it. This book is a must read for anyone who is tired of the hum-drum, thoughtless, furniture set and career ladder life that our consumer society places upon us. The ideas that are covered in this book are not necessarily new, but they are displayed in a very fresh style that invites the reader to think. If you are not open to ideas that you may not agree with this book is not for you. However, if you welcome thoughtful insight and controversial ideas than read on.

Summary: A masterpiece of unknown porportions.
Review: Once you read this book you will see the world as it truly is, a machine which controls everybody. The world which is run by corporations, is set through two individuals' eyes, and they are sick of it.They start a new system, with no control, and the ultimate freedom. Eventually the main character gets endangered in what he has created...without even knowing it.

If you want to still live your lives pretending you are happy with materialistic things, do not read this book. If you want to continue living pretending that you are unique and special, do not read this book, because once you read this book you must forget everything you know and let this book teach you what you are in this lifetime.

Summary: I am Jack's short review
Review: This book is different from anything else I've read in a while. It is not the best from Chuck but I rank it number 2 behind survivor (I have not read Choke yet but it is on the way). The story has a good plot twist or two and plenty of social review for the reader to think about. It is a short read but not for the person looking for the plain old plot. Read it slow or be prepared to read it twice.

Summary: Good
Review: You can tell that this is the first book he has written. Its still good but certain parts are stupid ( I am not going to site any examples ). It's like a movie you watch for the first time and certain things bug you. Then the second time you watch these things become more and more of an annoyance. Just watch any Kevin Smith movie and you will know what I am talking about.

Summary: I am Jane's Non-Hollywood Ending
Review: Not to knock the movie (it's a great movie and I'll probably review it next) but wow, was the ending better in the book, or what? Now there are things you cannot do in movies without being too vile... i.e. the little plastic baggies in the fridge... or too obscene ... i.e. Marla's post-coital (sp?) comments, but those things are really great punches in the book that the film left out. But what can you do? The book ending might be a little too intellectual for a lot of movie-goers who like to have the lights come up and move on with their lives without thinking about what they've just seen. (Please see "A.I." and my "A.I." review if you are not one of those.

Other people might get irritated by the book's tendency to repeat itself. But since most everything in "Fight Club" is a mantra, it must be repeated. I found both this book and movie to be stunning in their treatment of the postmodern condition. If you have seen the movie and found it "too disturbing" I highly suggest you stay far far away from the book. Go read something tamer. This book is wild and shocking. I found it interesting how the film delayed the climax in comparison to the book. I also find myself wondering how I would have pictured the characters if I didn't have Edward Norton and Brad Pitt stuck in my head. And if Helena Bonham Carter is not the perfect Marla, I don't know who is. And Robert Paulson? Enough said.

If you loved the movie, you'll probably love the book. It is an extremely quick read. I read it in only a few hours and really enjoyed myself in the process.

Summary: I am Jack's undying praise.
Review: This is not a simple work of fiction. This is a self-help manual for our generation.
