Summary: A fine study of Nihilism
Review: This book is one of the most incredible analyses of the concept of Nihilism from every aspect. While the movie concentrated on a love story, the book concentrates on a truly incredible idea. Nihilism as a concept must be somewhat understood before one can truly understand the statement of this work.
One should note that the very conclusion of the book suggests strongly that Palahniuk does not wish one to embrace Nihilism. Even in an interview he explained some of his ideas and essentially if not exactly that.
But the focus is not the avocation of a belief system, or even an attack on a belief system, but a complete analysis of Nihilism. Even the style and structure of the book was inherently Absurdist, a literary style that arose from Existentialism, of which Nihilism is part. Down to every detail this work is finely crafted, and the greater one's understanding of the concepts the more apt on is to enjoy this work, though it is enjoyable for nearly all. However, the greater the understanding of the concepts involved the more valuable the book is. Without understanding the essential concepts of this book it can create reactions retrograde to the author's own intentions.

By the way, I love this book and I acutally first read it just a few hours south of Portland. Some may know that Palahniuk lives in Portland. For some reason reading a book about something farmiliar so near it's source has quite an impact on someone and I do believe the impression left by Fight Club has only become deeper with my greater understanding of the subject.

Summary: Great
Review: While not the best book of all time, definetely worth a purchase. The book is filled with great one liners, and an involving story line. If you haven't yet seen the movie or read the book, I suggest reading the book first... I think the shock is better that way, but even if you have seen the movie, pick this up. It's far better, with a better ending, and the jokes are more developed.

Summary: A modern day classic
Review: Like everyone else, after watching Fight Club the movie i had to watch it again just to get everything. I bought the book mainly beacuse i loved the story by Chuck Palahniuk. I've read his other works (Survivor ect) and although they are good, they are lacking when compared to Fight Club. Also just beacuse you've seen the movie doesn't mean that you've got the entire story, the book gives you additional information that really explains certain aspects of the movie. If you haven't read the book, do so! it definatly worth owning

Summary: An exciting story
Review: Chuck Palahniuk's "Fight Club" was referred to me by a friend. Palahniuk presents a vivid world of disgruntled men who are searching to find the meaning of life through a boxing club. The storyline and characters are very strong affect on me. I noticed that I would repeatedly question my beliefs on materialism. Overall, I felt that the novel and the movie where identical. The book offers a different variation of the beginning and ending of the story. Also, the events in the book are in different sequences than presented in the movie. I would strongly recommend this novel to anyone who has interest in the movie or novels which are hard to put down. Enjoy!

Summary: A Classic Novel
Review: Chuck Palahniuk never needs to write another novel. The pretense carried through from beginning to end. His stunning comedy and pacing reminds me of Christopher Klim's Jesus Lives in Trenton.

Summary: A Welcome Enhancement
Review: I just read the book for the first time. The movie is better organized, but of course the book is richer, more textured. There is not really anything new per se, although there are additional subplots and new scences. The book would be mondo confusing for anyone who has not seen the movie. There were entire scenes I could better appreciate having seen the movie.

The book is an easy read, but that does not mean it's easy to follow. The food-service guerrilla terrorism was rather gross, but I appreciated seeing that he blackmailed several businesses into subsidizing Fight Club.

All in all, enjoy it!

Summary: One of the best books...
Review: Fight club is the best book I have read in a long time. It is much better then the movie. It gives a good perspective from a crazy point of view. This book makes you think, the thoughts are not always good, but it still makes you think. This book is for you if: You love to fight, Like soap, and enjoy acts of violence.

Summary: FIGHT CLUB
Review: A gripping book about male power issues and society. I'm 30 year old male I sympathize and the sense of 'mid-life crisis' this book creates. Somewhat diffrent than the movie, which I truely love.

Summary: First Rule about Fight Club is no one talks about Fight Club
Review: Okay, so maybe I'm breaking the rules, but I can't help it. You have to talk about this novel after you have read it because there are so many issues that Palahniuk explores, it's tough to keep up with them all. This is really a fantastic book that deserves a number of readings to get to the heart of. My particular favourite section is Chapter 6 describing what fight club means to a generation of men raised by women. Fantastic stuff.

Summary: Fight Club, finally, a grown-up modern "Catcher In The Rye"
Review: A MUST READ. What a riveting book, As an avid reader, not many authors can touch me this way. After viewing the movie, I was so affected that I hopped right online to Amazon.com and ordered the book. Chuck Palahniuk has reached into the very depth of all dissaffected, disillusioned inneffectual males who are spinning their wheels trying to stay afloat in this trash laden chemical waste pit we call corporate america. He says its alright to not want IKEA furniture and SUVs and that it's not alright to accept things the way they are. "Holden Caufield Grows Up" is what Chuck is saying. Fight Club is definitely a grown up version of "Catcher In The Rye" by J.D. Salinger. If you liked "Catcher In The Rye" when you were a teenager you will LOVE Fight Club as an adult. If we were to see Holden mature into adulthood we would have witnessed him joining Fight Club. Imagine Holden bloodied and battered standing over another poor bloody pulp he's just beaten down at Fight Club. You cannot change the system but you can always fight...How do we rebel,we have been raised to believe we would all be millionaire rock stars and we truly have no outlet when we discover the hard cold truth. The intensity of modern life today is enough to drive any man to extremes. I thought that Chuck Palahniuk has captured the pent up feelings present in a lot of us these days, the complete rejection of all things politically correct and disgust with the "normal" corrupt modes of business that we tolerate in his world. Fight Club is Nihilism at its very core. Being an avid reader of all genres, I devoured each and every word of "Fight club" Its alway great to find an author that really relates to your view of the world... I wish Chuck Palahniuk a long and successful career.
