Rating: Summary: Don't Panic-BUY THIS BOOK! Review: Adams is a genius. That's all there is too it. Within the space of his four volume "trilogy" he encompases the range of human ridiculosity (no; that isn't a word) and what it is to be a member of the human condition. Oh yeah- ENOUGH WITH THE TOLKIEN COMPARISONS. Adams isn't trying to be Tolkien. Every writer in the genre is not trying to be Tolkien. Please stop it. No one may be able to match Tolkien, but the majority of us have come to accept this and stopped making inane comparisons.
Rating: Summary: The Bible II Review: Did you ever wonder who you are? Why you are here? If we are alone in the universe? If there is a God? (And where he eats) Who is the smartest, homo sapiens or laboratory mice? How to fly? How not to fly? What the rules for Cricket are? How much you DONT know?If you can ansver yes to at least one of these questions . Then READ THE GUIDE. (If not , read it anyway)
Rating: Summary: Ultimate is certainly the right word! Review: Of course! What a genius idea to put all the 4 books of D. Adams triology (!!!) down in one book. This is a must for fans of Douglas Adams or simply fans of the crazy humor of the englishmen. I would give the Ultimate Guide 6 stars if that was possible.
Rating: Summary: This anthology is a good read! Review: Douglas Adams has shown, in these five books and one short story, the heights which modern science fiction can attain. His Hitchhiker series provides enjoyable entertainment and many good laughs into the bargain. Anyone who's read even one of them, in their individual formats, knows what I mean. To anyone who hasn't yet read them, what are you waiting for?
Rating: Summary: Simply for the humorous, and goofy Review: This book is not for the serious. Still, I found even when I was depressed this book still made me laugh out loud, CONTINOUSLY, the humor is crazy, wierd, and very tru at some times. The first three are made very well, the last two are average, but hey, 15 bucks is pretty good for 5 books. I highly sugest this book to anyone, except for those who take life to seriously.
Rating: Summary: My favourite book Review: The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy series concists, in my oppinion, of the five funniest books ever written. I have introduced it to many people and all have loved it (that includes also my Swedish and English teacher).
Rating: Summary: Well... What can I say. The best book ??? Review: I've read this book around 15 times, and I always read it when I'm bored. It's always funny.
Rating: Summary: um...its good , not that good , well ... Review: umm , i find it hard to say that this book can be considered a classic , i found it hard to digest , the sense of humour rather dry for my taste and the characters not overly enthralling . its good , but good is relative , compared to tolkien i'd give him a 2 out of 5 , compared to your avg. daily paper he gets a 5 out of 5 , make your own conclusions , its worth the read .
Rating: Summary: A staple for humor and sci-fi fans. Review: I have just started to reread this series and it is just as funny and entertaining as the first time. It combines whacky sci-fi with memorable characters. I find myself making references to the book all of the time. My friends think I'm crazy, due to Adams bizarre humor, but the book simply tickles my funny bone, even when I'm only thinking about it. I just can't recommend it enough to sci-fi fans, or anyone just looking for a humorous adventure through one messed up universe. "So long and thanks for all the fish."
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest books of all time Review: I re-read the series on a somewhat regular basis, its that good. Douglas Adams has a wonderful sense of humour, and a very nice writting style.
