Rating: Summary: This book is the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I recomend this book to anybody who has the time to read it. It has everything you could ask for;adventure, fantasy, suspense, and at the end of the book-series,you'll want to read it again and again.
Rating: Summary: The Greatest Books Ever Made!!! Review: As you stroll through the pages of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, your mind is actually in the book. As you battle the orcs and evils of Mordor, the excitement never stops. As you travel with Bilbo, Frodo, Sam, and many other characters, you'd think as if you were with them on their journey. Page after page, chapter after chapter, and book after book . . . you will realize that J.R.R. Tolkien has written the best books . . . ever!!! Someone really should make these books into a set of modern movies, not only will it deserve an oscar, it will be astounding and extraordinary!!!
Rating: Summary: Small Reader, Good book!!!!! Review: I know that whoever reads this is probably a grownup, but I am ten and have read The Hobbit and I think it is the best book ever! My dad recomended it to me so I got it. Ithink it is a good book so I recomend it to all people who haven't read IT IS A GOOD BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: THE classic Review: I know a lot of people say that this book is the best, well I'm not saying that(who wants to hear it again?) there are other books coming out that are really good too. I don't know if I like this book better than David Edding's Belgarath, because LotR had a LITTLE too much description (I, being 14, probably have a shorter attention span than a lot of more mature people) but at times I got bored, but after a half of a chapter or so it jumped back out. If you like fantasy, you must read this book, or you'll never understand the full extent of the fantsasy genre.
Rating: Summary: Tolkien= Genius Review: What a series! I'm 13 and have read the 4 part series in a short time. How? Cuz' I could not put it down! Anywhere I could I read it. even in hotels and school. Who can compare to Tolkien? Nobody! The Man (that's his title) has created a fantasy world that can't be compared because of the detail, differebt things, species, and the all around great dicription of Good vs. Evil. Tolkien is the best. It takes a genius to create a whole timeline and facts about your OWN world. Read the books. Anyone who is dissapionted by it just dosen't get what fantasy writing is all about.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I Ever Read In My Life Review: If you have not read "Lord Of the Rings" by J.R.R.Tolkien - You have no idea what you are missing. I strongly suggest you read this book as it is undoubtedly one of the best fantasy books of all time. Tolkien's brilliance is shown in this masterpiece he has created for us. Once you have started this book you will be riding a magical rollercoaster adventure , excitement and suspense until you finish it.
Rating: Summary: Simply the best book ever published Review: The Lord of the rings is an astounding book which encaptures your imagination like no other book can. It takes through the full range of emotions, and sometimes I felt I was actually there. So beautifully descriptive is Tolkien that a thousand images spring to mind as you flow through this awe-inspiring tale. There are times when you feel despair, as when Gandalf falls with the balrog down into the depths of Moria. There are times of great dread, but the overwhelming feeling is that of pride when the hobbits show that they are by far the greatest heroes of the tale, especially Frodo and the almost unsung hero Master Samwise. I have read the book many times. I am only 18, and I hope to read it many more times. Before reading the Lord of the Rings, I read the second best book of all time, The Hobbit ( and I have read a lot of books ). This introduced me to the magical world of Middle earth. I encourage anybody whatsoever to read Tolkien's work. From my own experience, I advise you to read Tolkien's work in the following order,a. The Hobbit, b. The Lord of the Rings, c. The silmarillion ( which is also a fantastic book ). I would like any Tolkien fan to e-mail me to swap any feelings about Tolkien's work, and even give me any reccomendations as to any other Tolkien works.
Rating: Summary: One of the oldest series of all time Review: You think Star Wars was original. You have not lived. I have an older release, the "official" original print dated back to 1969, and the price listed in pounds(English money for you younger or uneducated people). This is older than the Star Wars trilogy, and much better thought out. Sure, you can dream up any old aliens you want, but to create a universe so closely paralleling ours (if you think about it enough), and have it all fit together, is as close to impossible as anything I can think of. No new technology, no real different dreams of the reader(magic, longer life, etc.), and yet a world so captivating I still lose sleep to it, even after growing up reading it. The words are only a front, the real story is createed in your own imagination; the experience is different for everyone. If you understand that it really is only fiction/fantasy and doesn't interfere with any religion you may just find that there are parallels between magic+fate and God. The only complaints I can find in my heart(unusual especially for me) are that the cover work didn't get better on the newer release, and that both Bilbo and some of the playfulness of the Hobbit seem to have dropped out of the picture for the majority of the story. Enjoy... I certainly did.
Rating: Summary: A superb fantasy book! A must read! Review: The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit has an intruiging story behind the cover and the binding. Bilbo Baggins is explained in the Hobbit. The Lord of the Rings is excellent story. This book is not just for adults but for millions of other young readers.
Rating: Summary: An excellent story Review: This is probably the greatest book of all time. I've read other fantasy authors and there is absolutely no comparison between those other hacks and Tolkien. It seems that other reviewers here who disliked the book did so becasue of the dense, yet beautiful text which they were unable to get through. I've got three words for you guys: Books On Tape.
