Summary: A great work which created a whole new genre for itself
Review: I have read The Lord Of The Rings many times now and find it an enthraling and absorbing book. If you read it yourself you will understand why it has become a book of such high classic status. Many people (noticably they all seem to be Americans who cannot spell) compare the book to works such as The Sword Of Shanara and say that Tolkien copied it but if they did their research properly they would find that The Lord Of The Rings was published first. Considering this, Tolkein's work can only be described as a masterpiece.

Summary: Excellent fantasy in the tradition of the medieval romance

Summary: The Best Books You Could Ever Read..
Review: The Hobbit and Fellow Ship of the Rings Series is in my mind the best books that have and ever will be printed...I just love them. All the fun and magic but with the storyline made of gold to back it all up...If you buy any books from Amazon.com buy these.

Summary: Great books
Review: I am 15 years old and am reading the trilogy for the third time. Simply put, I have never read a better series of books before and I believe I never will. I was and am amazed at the detail put into these books by Mr. Tolkien, but even more so, he makes the reader believe that the world he has created does actually exist somewhere, as do the races of Orcs and Elves and Hobbits. If you have not read these books before, any hype you hear is true and well deserved; I don't believe you will be disappointed. However, make sure you read the books at least a second time; you begin to appreciate the sheer perfection of the story after already reading it through. You won't regret it.

Summary: Imaginable and loveable in every aspect
Review: LOTR and The Hobbit were my introductions to Tolkien. The characters, the setting (Beautiful Middle-Earth! What place on our Earth could be more lovely?), and the execution of the conflict, the building of that conflict and the intenseness of it's pounding in the last few chapters holds you to this work of art. It is a piece to be revered as much so (and more so) as DiVinci's Mona Lisa. It is a place to escape to.

Summary: A wonderful epic fantasy, but may be too complex for some
Review: I am a 7th grader, and I wanted to read some good fantasy. My winter vacation was spent reading the entire "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy along with "The Hobbit."

What this is is an amazing epic adventure, that starts out kind of slow in "The Fellowship of the Ring", but quickly picks up pace until it's amazing climax in "The Return of the King". However, younger readers may be turned off by the complexity of the series, and for them I reccomend "The Hobbit".

Summary: The book is excellent.
Review: If you miss this book then I feel happy for you, because you still can read it for the first time. The first time I read the book I didn't want to put it down. I walked down the school halls reading the series, completely unaware of anyone else and usually sidestepping people at the last moment. When I got near the end (last hundred pages or so) I wanted to put the book down so I could make the experience last but I just couldn't. The raising of the shire is awesome. one final thing, the first time I read this I skipped over the songs and poetry, but the second and third time I read the trilogy I read the songs. SOMETIMES I SUNG THEM. Especially the song Legolas and Aragorn sing when they send Borimor to Raurus Falls. DO NOT SKIP THE SONGS!

Summary: Rivendel
Review: Here's a Dutch reader who wants to talk Bilbo and Frodo. If you haven't read this book, no problem...but you are missing something....... Even if you don't like fantasy or S/F, it's still a very interesting book. If you even could imaging that J.R.R. Tolkien developed a whole new language!!!!!! Like the Runes of Gandalf the Sorcerer..... Let this be a warning to all the people who haven't read Tolkien!!!! If you don't the Balrog or the evil hand of Sauron will get you and then the only save place is Rivendel where Elrond lives... Viva Bilbo Gandalf Frodo Thorin Dain Aragorn Denethor and friends......and me they live in peace and harmony just like the firstborn.......

Summary: The Best Series of Books ever written !
Review: We can divide the people of all the World in two groups: those who already read Tolkien's masterpieces (The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit) and those who never read it. I am fortunate to belong to the first group. Be sure you make the same. There are no words to describe the feelings that overwhelm you while you desperately devour each sentence of these marvelous books from the first page to the very last. Tolkien has the ability to make our subconscient break free and make us believe that his wonderfully created Universe really exists. And even more than that: it makes us long for actually being part of that Universe, living among Elves and Ents, Dwarves and Hobbits, DĂșnedain and Rohirrim, adventuring in the Wild regions of Middle-Earth. With Tolkien, everything comes alive and after reading his books Fantasy will never be the same to you.
