The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings

Review: Wow ! J.R.R. Tolkien really knows how an excellent fantasy book is written . From the beginning to the end the action never stops . From The Shire , where the quiet hobbits live , to the land of Mordor , where evil gathers , lies a world of unknown stuff . It has been a year or so since I read this great book , but its taste is still in my mouth . I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy , 'cause it won't get better .

Summary: A wonderful celebration of steadfastness
Review: There may be other writers who use English better (Wm. Faulkner); there are certainly bigger story cycles (R. Jordan). But no one ever invented a world so completely as did Professor Tolkien. And in this world of Elves of the Wood and High Elves, Dwarves, Dragons, Wizards crazed with desire for power and Wizards benign, and little people called Hobbits, we find moral issues do not change. Evil still seeks power for it's own sake, good is oft divided and uncertain. In the face of this uncertainty, the character trait which is most needful is steadfastness; continuing to do what is right, even though you see little hope of success. All the main characters at one point or another face and conquer despair. In short, a wonderful spiritual experience as well as a joyous read.

Review: I have probably read this whole set at least ten times. I usually read it once a year or so just so I don't forget any part of it. I have never read a series that ends just as good as it starts. I recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy and adventure stories.

Summary: Tolkien, the greatest?
Review: Is Tolkien the greatest fantasy writer of modern time? Well, I base my reviews on five elements: 1. Good plot (it's enjoyable, fun to read) 2. Good character development (the character is distinct and interesting) 3. Good dramatic climax (there is enough suspence and relief) 4. Good setting (I can picture myself there) 5. Good description (there are sufficient details). These are the five elements, although they alter with the type of book I review. Tolkien's books are typical fantasy genre, but they have a certain magic to them that has captured readers all over the world. I noticed a couple readers from Turkey had commented on this book! Is Tolkien the greatest? Some say he is the ultimate author of fantasy novels. Some say he is the worst author they have read! My father read The Lord of the Rings to me out loud when I was a child, and then we bought the radio drama of this story. I have read it several times since, and I have determind my opinion with a clear image of the whole story running through my head. Tolkien has a very good plot, and that is one of the keys to his success with this novel, but there is one thing that I have to complain about: Tolkien has no sufficient character development. I will not say he has none: for that is not true; he does have some on the part of Frodo. But his characters do not develope throughout the book as they could have! He would have had THE perfect novel in my mind, if he had improved his character development. This is the reason I give this book four stars; if you think me to harsh, then e-mail me! Tolkien does include many details, sometimes it's even boring, but that is not enough to take off another star! For those who are patient, and love fantasy novels as I do, then you will love this book and the Hobbit as much as I!

Review: You know that any JRR Tolkien book would be great. JRR Tolkien is unlike other authors. He did something with his works. many other authors write books, that all. Tolkien invented his own world, a history of this world and invented his own language. If you haven't read these books yet what are you waiting for?

Review: Sorry about the rating. I just did that so someone would stop to read this. So I apoligize if I gave somone like me a heart attack or something. :~) I just couldn't bear to give these spectacular books ONE STAR, so I figured that two should grab someone's attention. I can't believe that anyone wouldn't like these books. If you don't, that signals a complete lack of depth and understanding on your part. I love details, and Mr. Tolkien gave a lot of those. If you hate books that describe the most simple things in a way that makes you see them differently and understand them better, then don't read these novels. If you like long books, a lot of description and a great plot with characters that make you feel as if you are a part of the story, then by all means, read these. I tried the DragonLance books..but I won't say anything for fear of offending someone*roll eyes*. If any of you out there in your own little worlds feel the same way that I do, then by all means e-mail me. I'd love to discuss stuff like this, since none of my peers enjoy that kind of stuff (I'm 13).

Summary: The most excellent book I have ever read!!
Review: The Lord of the Rings is full of fantasy and myth, but also captures the seriousness of the roles of the characters. I would recommend this book to anyone, I have read it many times and I never get bored. There's always something new to find out and things which you couldn't remember before never fail to amaze you again. The excellence of the story if that it always make you feel as though you are one of the characters.

Review: I am 14 years old and I have already read these books at least 5 times. JRR Tolkien is deffinitely one of the the best authors I have ever read. I could go on for ever about how great these books are but I would recomend reading them and finding out for yourself. Whatever your tastes in books hapens to be, these books are for you!
