Summary: Best Fantasy Ever.......
Review: When I started to read these books, starting at The Hobbit, it astonished me. I was most astonished at the author's abillity to create a whole new world so delicately formed, with every bits of its history tucked in very nicely. If one knows about fantasies well, one might be aware that most of what we usually know about Elves, Dwarves, and Hobbits were created by J.R.R. Tolkein himself. This is definitely a GREAT fantasy that I will never forget.

Summary: One ring to rule them all and in the darkness bind...
Review: My friend told me to read these books. i took one look at them and said "no too long". I started The Hobbit and couldn't put it down. He lended me the other three books and within moments of recieving them i was through the first chapter and couldn't stop. I'm only 14 and most of my friends have barely heard of The Hobbit. I take pity on those that have not read these wonderful books yet. Three rings for the Elven-Kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf-Lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie. One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them, One ring to bring themall and in the darkness bind In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie

Summary: "there and back again" the hobbit to the lord of the rings.
Review: this book is an extrordinary masterpiece. it moved me like no other book. i accually felt for the charecters and feared such things that frodo and "company" did. i cringed at the thought of frodo putting It on. i was mortally afraid of smaug and sauron. i wished to hide from the Black Riders as if i was there with them. i have read all the books. not one book out of the four, was any less exiting than the one before it. i could not put the books down i would take the book everywhere. it is a series that if you read it more than once it would never be any less exciting, no matter how many times you read it. i am as you can probably tell, nothing more than a meer 13 year old girl, but i garantee that you will love the books. i recommend them. it makes you "see the world" in a way you have never seen before.

Summary: Fantasy at its best........
Review: I have just finished reading The Lord Of The Rings and can say that this is one of the best stories i have ever experienced... Only 2 series hold a special place in my heart... LOTR and A Dream Of Eagles by Jack Whyte which is a fantastic historically accurate recreation of the Arthurian Legend, there are 6 books in these series so far with more to come...I know these 2 series will stay with me for a long long time... PS. A Dream of Eagles is titled The Camulod Chronicles in the US

Summary: Tolkien is an artist of the first water.
Review: Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" deserves to be ranked with the immortal artistry of such legends as Michaelangelo, Beethoven, Rodin, and da Vinci. His deft touch with the palette of the English language is as sublime as any of the creative geniuses in other media. I have watched people for hours gaze enraptured at the Mona Lisa in the Louvre...indeed, I have looked, too. But surely Tolkien has crafted as great a work in his detailed, infinitely delicate yet masterful tale of beauty, evil, tragedy, and ultimate victory. Long after this generation passes, and the next, and the next, I believe Frodo and Gandalf and Ellisar and all the others will continue to walk Middle Earth. And those who discover them will fall as absolutely under their spell as we.

Summary: There's a feeling I get when I look to the west
Review: "The Lord of the Rings" is far and away my favorite book, and my appreciation for it only deepens with each reading. It is perhaps the only book where the setting is more important than plot or character - a setting so real that people cannot help connecting it with our own world. But LOTR is not an allegory; it is simply a story. Whatever 'ism' some feel that it advocates is merely a reflection of an 'ism' the reader took to Middle-Earth with them.

Ramble on....

Summary: There and back again and again and again...
Review: J.R.R.Tolkiens"Lord of the Rings"is the greatest fantasy novel to date in print that I have read.Nowhere else have I found a story with not just a great plot but with true humanity in its characters,as well as an eye for details that makes you feel as if you are standing in the characters shoes. It takes time to read, but once it is finished, you may find yourself there and back again and again. All of the other fantasy authors(Brooks,Jordan, etc.)pale when compared to this epic of the little guy vs.evil.I hope you enjoy it.

Summary: The greatest "fantasy" book ever written by the best author.
Review: The greatest "fantasy" book ever written by the best author ever. I say all yhis because I'm a 15 years old boy that likes to read very much and this stories that can be felt as fantasy or truth are so great and with such a great narrator like Tolkien was. No one could ever get bored with this books. It is just another world which lets you think what you want to think. David Albagli Cazés, Santiago CHile

Summary: A Literary Treasure
Review: Not that this wonderful story needs yet another review - I couldn't resist. My father begged me to read this when I was younger. I didn't open it until a few years ago. Now, once a year, in April or May, I open the large hardback, take out my map of Middle Earth, and begin the adventure again. Just one person's experience.

Summary: A Childhood Wonder
Review: I have read Tolkien's Trilogy for the first time at age 12 and, speaking as a bookworm-type reader, I'll say that it was simply the best reading experience of my life. It has been, no doubt, the most important book for me that I ever read; as a child in particular the wonders described in it caught me completely. Tolkien's world is so richly and fully detailed that it's hard to believe it's a made-up world. This is the cornerstone of all fantasy. Don't believe people who tell you there are better fantasy writers; Jordan and the rest are NOTHING on this, merely weak sembles of copies. Additionally, it is absurd to say that this is a glorification of the Germans, given the fact that Germany was Britain's greatest enemy during both World Wars, and that the myths are not German but Scandinavian.
