Rating: Summary: SIMPLY BRILLIANT!!!! Review: This tale touches the heart of anyone who reads it. It wonderfully places the reader right into the story, where our craving to be a hero in a fantastic world, where good battles evil, is brought to surface in ourselves. And while living in that time and space, the problems of the "real world" at least seem to dissapear and the reader becomes a faithful companion, standing aside Frodo, battling the evil. It is not just a book, it is the door to escape through to our youthful dreams, no matter if 10 or 85. It not only is a masterpiece of literature, but truly a brilliant work of art by the mind of a man, who had the power to create this universe. ** ** ** ** "It was a beautiful golden harp, and when Thorin struck it the music began all at once, so sweet that Bilbo forgot everything else and was swept away into the dark lands under strange moons, far over the water and very far away from his little hobbit hole under the hill."
J.R.R. Tolkin,"The Hobbit"
Rating: Summary: This world will capture even the strongest hearts. Review: Thanks to my parents and the brilliance of such an amazing creative author as JRR Tolkien I learned to enjoy and love reading.
The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy are worlds upon themselves. To open their book is to step into and be captured in, their contents. Each character, Bilbo to Pippin, the Dark Lord to Gollum, has a definte life that is brought forth. Each time you read and enter Tolkien's world you will find new magic
Rating: Summary: WARNING!!! Review: To read these books is very dangerous! Because once you have started, you don't want to stop because they are simply brilliant! Right now I started to read them once again and I'm desperately counting the hours to get home and continue
Rating: Summary: Fairy tale can be more interesting than detective!!! Review: This is the handbook for me. When I read it for the first time I was interested by the plot. Sometimes it is really unpredictable. The second time I read the book I was interested by the heroes of this book. Everyone is Person and even enemies are interesting for me. Recently I read this book for the third time. And I found a lot of ideas. My favourite is said by Gendalf (I'm not sure in the words but the meaning is the next): "You want to kill him? Of course, there're a lot of people who have to be killed. But there are a lot of dead people who have to live. Can you recover them? No? Then don't kill him!"
I advice you at least to read this! This book helps me to overcome my problems. I looked at Frodo and saw that he was just a hobbit but he was able to do what he had done. And so everyone is important!
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: Do you love the classic good vs evil novel?
Then this is the perfect set for you. It begins with the adventure of a hobbit named Bilbo, in the course of his story he finds a magic ring that plays a key role in the next three books. The next three books are reall one book in which Frodo Baggins (a hobbit) must destroy the ring in order to save his homeland and all of the neighboring lands. I reccomend these books in the highest sense of the word.
Rating: Summary: TERRIFIC!!!!!!!!! Review: these are great books. i loved them! they just engulf you into their world. it seems real. once you're done, you wish that you could read more about them. it starts out in the hobbit where Bilbo goes on an adventure to destroy a dragon and reclaim a lost treasure. on the way there are many surprises and friends. if you want to find out what happens, read it. the lord of the rings is where it gets really good. threre is trouble. the dark lord Sauron is trying to reclaim a lost item (read the book to know what it is) a small fellowship consisting of hobbits, an elf, a dwarf, men, and a wizard set out to fight in wars and destroy the dark lord in this ultimate adventure. I'm only 12 and i loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please read them. you'll thank me when you're done
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Fantasy Review: I first read LOTR when I was 18. I'm now 38 and reading it for the 12th time. The bindings are being held together with tape and the pages are very brittle. This work is masterful and sets the mind wandering into a strange and mysterous world. I guess I better buy a new set of these books before I start my daughter reading it!
Rating: Summary: Awesome book. Review: I think this is one of the best books I've ever read.I like very much fantasy-like books, like these. The description of the enviroment made me feel like as if I were inside the story. J.R.R. Tolkien has a very swift narrative and before you know it you're almost at the end of the book. It kept me reading instead of wanting to watch T.V. or doing anything else. I really liked it. Akram Shehadi. (12 yr. boy) Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico
Rating: Summary: Best book ever written! Review: This last summer, my family went down to California. But I didn't get to experience its beautiful scenery, not even as we drove along 300 miles beside the ocean. I was spell-bound by Tolkien's masterpiece, "The Lord of the Rings". When I stopped reading, it took me an hour to realize that I didn't have to destroy Sauron's ring! And when I finished the book, I almost cried, I wanted so badly to keep reading it. This is the best piece of literature ever written
Rating: Summary: Step into another world and never return the same!! Review: When I first read the Hobbit and LOTR, I felt shivers up and down my spine. I spent at least an hour, after reading each chapter, trying to adapt to the real world again. Tolkiens' books are the ONLY true fantasy books as far as I am concerned. It's the role-playing experience of a life time
