Summary: Tolkiens Imagination Gave The World A Fantastic Legacy
Review: These books are a foundation for fantasy a definitive and all to excellent exmaple of the best kind of literature that can come out of society. Even more interesting is to look at these books and be able to recognize where Tolkien got some of his ideas in the past and what it has inspired in the future. Brought to my attention by a close friend and later realized by myself was that Tolkien had gotten many of his concepts from a Golden Age Fantasy writer known as H.P. Lovecraft, those of you that know of H.P. Lovecrafts work would surely disagree, because of H.P. Lovecraft's mostly did works of horror fantasy. H.P. Lovecraft like Tolkien, I belive, became obsessed in the world he was creating and became inundated by it. The similarities are fine and very deep. What has Tolkien inspired, that list is endless, but one of the better series i have ever read that was undoubtedly inspired by Tolkien is the Dragonlance series written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, these two are as good if not better then what Tolkien wrote, they sweep through a wide spectrum, from love and romance to loss and betrayal. Tolkien inspired a generation of writers to visit a land they had only rarely glimpsed in Arthurian Romance and works such as Beowulf and The Odyssey. What The Foundation books by Isaac Asimov were to Science Fiction so is Tolkien entire menagerie of his intricate world to the Fantasy genre for all time.

Summary: J.R.R. Tolkien: The Founder Of The Fantasy Genre
Review: Tolkien is fantasy. His works have opened a portal into a world of the mind. His imagination and insight bring to life a land of mystery, danger and high adventure. The characters in Tolkien's world are living people with goals and dreams. These people are not simply black and white good and evil; they have feelings expressed in shades of gray. The heroes have strengths and frailties, which shape the story. When one reads tolken, he finds himself transported into a world of Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, Ents, Orcs, and Dragons. The world is spellbinding. I first read these works when I was ten years old. I have read the Trilogy several times since, but that first reading, sitting with a flashlight under my blanket way after bed time was a Tour De Force of excietment. I would savor each word before passing on to the next. I remember the last thirty pages of the book so clearly even now. I would only read two pages a day, so it would last longer. I still remember that warm summer day when I drew a deep breath with the Hobbit-Hero Sam, and uttered "Well I'm home again." As the last line faded into memory, I cried. The tears welled not from sadness but from a loss, and I knew at that moment I would never read this wonderful series the same way again. That was nine readings ago. Each year I take my worn copy of the trilogy out, and I immerse myself in this land of childhood wonder. Before you read Eddings, Jordan, Brooks, or any other modern fantasy writer, read Tolkien. His works are the standard by which all fantasy is judged. I recomend these books with all my heart. They are the greatest pieces of fantasy ever written

Summary: Original, a spectacular fantasy adventure
Review: None can compare with such an original, imaginative and timeless fantasy adventure with adventure, horror, sadness and romance rolled into one fantastic book that can read by all ages. Such a variety of horrible creatures ranging from orcs to trolls and the terrible Ringwraiths and such characters as Gimli and Legolas and those dear wonderful hobbits. Not to mention, of course Gandalf the wizard and the terrible of wrath of Sauron the Dark Lord and so much more that it can't be explained in such a small space. You just have to read it, so read it now or better still buy it then read it. It's just the nearest thing to perfection, it has absolutely everything, it's so good that even if you gave it a ten you would still be underating it. And yet, I have one complaint, it's just too short!

Summary: No words are enough!
Review: From the moment I read the first page, I couldn't stop until I realized I was at the last page of this amazing book, I simply had to keep on reading, I wasn't able to stop until I knew what happened to every single personnage of the story. In fact, after reading the triology, I inmediately read The Hobbit, afterwards the Simarilon and so on. Tokien definetely wrote the best fiction-story ever!!

Summary: Simply the GREATEST epic ever
Review: I can't say enough about this book. It is the all-time greatest fantasy series (the "Star Wars" of fantasy books). In reading the reviews that follow this one, I hear many authors mentioned, such as: 1. Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time) 2. David Eddings (can't remember) These authors wrote great books, but Tolkien is the original and still by far the best. The story is rich in history and inspiring. I also highly recommend reading "The Silmarillion" if you enjoyed this book. I have re-read The Lord of the Rings many times over with joy, and every time I read about the charge of the Rohirrim on the fields of Minas Tirith, my heart pounds with excitement! Those of you who are Tolkien fans know where I'm coming from.

Summary: I wish I could read it again for the first time!!
Review: This was the first epic fantasy series I read, and twenty five years later I am still hooked on the genre. I have read this series more times than I could count and enjoy it immensely with every reading. If wishes were granted, one of mine would be to read it again for the first time. Another would be to visit Middle Earth in the Eldar Days before the darkness. For those of you who have read LOTR, you understand. For those of you that have not, read it and you will
