Rating: Summary: These are great books! Review: I don't know how people could think that thiese books are poor, unless they don't enjoy a good book. These books are a great fantasy serious for kids and adults alike. It is necessary to start with the "Hobbit" to understand whet happens in teh next three books, but they are well worth your time
Rating: Summary: This book is a joke Review: Everybody told me JR.Tolkein's books on the Ring series is so good. I was so mislead. This book is not good, it is a neverending story to me. THe beginning was so sucky and did not make you want to read at all. I read Fellowship of the ring. I got to this council part, and i felt like I had had anough. I was like 200 pages through the book and all I had read was how the Hobbit walked through the jungle, and how good hid breakfest. JR.Tolkein told everything. He said how the Frodo gut pissed, tied his shoe, and how he talked. He spent a bout 50 pages writing a poem. I'm sorry to say this but this book %#^*@#$ sucks! Damn I got nothing that I had expected......Sorry about my bad language but I really hate this book and how it took my time.
Rating: Summary: The best fantasy book ever written. Review: I have now read this book 5 or 6 times, and it gets better every time. No author I have ever read has painted more vivid images. I can imagine every detail in the books perfectly, all due to Tolkein's writing. I recently loaned this book to a friend who had never been interested in fantasy books. He is only about 80 pages into it, but he is already enraptured. So even if you haven't ever shown interest in fantasy literatue, I suggest you try these. You will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: I Couldn't stop reading until I finished!!!!!! Review: I just finished reading the whole series(The Hobbit, and TLOR), and it felt like it was the first time again. In reality this is the 4th time I have read these books and I am still in awe!!! I wish with all my heart I could be there with Bilbo, Frodo, Merry and Pippin. Middle-Earth with all its dangers and fears seemed so vivid in my mind. Lothlorien will always be a place of dreams, and may the Kings of legend always come in the time of need!!! I'm almost sorry I've finished. Now it seems I miss them and wish there were a few more to take me down their roads again. If ever you read a series and want to be entwined and Believe you are there---These are those books!!

Rating: Summary: Simply the best Review: The Lord of the Rings is the best book ever written. Period. Make no mistake, this is not simply a book- it's an entire universe, put to paper. And the farther you read into Tolkien's works, the more incredible and real the universe becomes. This series is a triumph of the human imagination. If you haven't read it, do yourself a favor.
Rating: Summary: A fantasy great that transcends all genre boundaries. Review: In The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Tolkien has achieved a masterful work of fantasy that transcends all genre boundaries. This sweeping epic achieves the highest attainable goal of the fantasy author -- the creation of a fantasy world that engulfs, mesmerizes and finally convinces the reader of its own reality. As a professor at Oxford University, Tolkien created Middle Earth as a setting for his characters; their struggles, their histories and even their own languages. In doing so he has achieved a background of such depth that although this is a work of fantasy in its purist form, the reality of the world and the events within the novel make The Lord of the Rings a delight for anyone with a passion for good literature. And in addition to the depth of the fantasy realm itself, the characters are complex yet easily identifiable, the landscapes are vivid and the story is moving beyond description. This is a work that invites at least two readings. I have read it ten times and each brings forth new meaning.
Rating: Summary: It's THE book! Review: I have read books of same level, but still I can't find a winner. It's not perfect, it has it's faults and the tarnishing fame but it's still the number ONE. It's a world of it's own. A place to go when it's too difficult to live... (I ain't having any thoughts of self destruction, but that's how I feel about the saga!) We all need a hide out - a place to be alone, quiet - and here it is. Thank you J.R.R.Tolkien... You are not a god and never will, but you deliver a redemption.
Rating: Summary: Fiction Classic - a World of its own Review: A fairytale of a world long forgotten, remembered by only few - recreated in the minds of few who are honored to have the power of imagination above many others trapped in this _real_ world. Be one of the few - read this amazingly thorough trip into an another world - a world of hobbits, dwarves, elves, orcs and magicians. Surrender to the true noble races of elves and the beauty of Elbereth Gilthoniel.. read about the fights of old days, fights for treasure, fights of David vs Goliath (Frodo vs Sauron) and you'll feel sorry when you return to the real world around you realizing it WAS just a dream.
Rating: Summary: Just Tolkien can rediscover the child and goodness inside us Review: I am used to see this book on bookstores to finally leave it -after all I am an adult (IT Manager) and this stuff is probably for kids (Ha!). But one day I dared to buy it.
What can I say? The book is more that anyone can explain or describe. How could Anyone give you, even barely, an idea of what this book is, that is imposible to do that It would be necessary to copy the book itself.
Just trust me... This is THE BOOK.
