Summary: An absolute terrific series!
Review: The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Trilogy are the best books ever writen. The detail of these books are phenomonal. The entire series had me wanting more and more, I couldn't put it down. It seems like a lot to read at first, but after you're done you'll be sad it's over. Also, if you like this series you'll love the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. It's split into two sections The Shannara Trilogy,The Heritage of Shannara(4 books) and the prequel to the first book of the trilogy "The First King of Shannara". Those last a little bit longer and the ending is more satisfying than The Lord of the Rings. (I had to recommend those too)

Summary: THIS is literature!
Review: Thie is one of the best collections of books I have read, and I read a lot. You'd think there are many books like these, like Dragonlance, but there is no comparison. If you want more than you get with Sweet Valley, read this. Signed, Kostantze Goiri

Summary: One of the world's best books!
Review: I first read this book when I was 14, and immediately fell in love with the characters, plot and landscapes. In some places it is heavy going, but every little detail is important. The story has everything in it - humour, sadness, excitement, mystery and fear. It is a wonderful read, and if I was stranded on a desert island, it would definitely be the one thing I wouldn't live without. The Hobbit is also fab, and I recommend it to anyone trying Tolkein for the first time. Tolkein did an ace job when he wrote both books, and I think the world would be a more boring place without them. Brilliant!!

Summary: Simply the best
Review: I first read this this series 15 years ago. I have probably re-read it 30 times since. Although I read science fiction and fantasy extensively, never have I wanted to keep re-visiting books in this way. There is purity and wonder on every page. Does it have a touch more realism like some other offerings ? Well, no. But The mood created by reading his books cannot be matched by anyone else. This is a series that I read again every year (at least) and it still delivers. It has and will continue to stand the test of time like nothing else. I can think of no higher accolade. These are books that will never, ever go out of print. I sincerely doubt there are even a dozen sci-fi or fantasy authors who could claim that.

Summary: CAPTIVATING, MOVING!!!!!!!
Review: It was a little over a year ago when my mom brought out an old, worn version of THE HOBBIT. I had just finished reading another book, just another book. She suggested I read The Hobbit. She said I'd probably like it. Wow. I more than just liked it. After a page or two I was bored. I wanted to put the book down and go back to my everyday, ordinary mystery. But for some reason I decided to give it a try- at least read the first chapter. I did. Then the next chapter and the next... I have never regretted it. What was so cool to me about the Hobbit was this amazing transformation that came over Bilbo. In Gandalf's words, he was not the hobbit he used to be. THE HOBBIT was totally excellent, but the trilogy that followed was, in my opinion, even better. At first, I was upset at the prospect of new characters in THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY, but I soon grew to love them. The plot that had been slowly, unconspicuously, growing took on a new, unexspected twist. Frodo had the strength and courage to bear what Gandalf himself could not bring himself to wear. Merry and Pippen were funny and courageous people, but no one in the book touched me more than the ever faithful Sam Gamgee. Sam didn't really consider himself very important. He was extremely modest even through everthing he did. Yet, without Sam the quest would have failed. Frodo beared the ring through Mordor, which was a tormenting thing. But Sam didn't exactly have it easy either. He did everything he could to make things better for Frodo, even giving up his own few comforts. The Choices of Master Samwise was a very good chapter. He has a very wise heart, whether he knows or not. (Or whether or not the Gaffer said so.) It was so hard for him to leave Frodo. He was so loyal. But it was all worth it when it was over. Sam and Frodo carried the doom of the world and succeeded. The may have just been little hobbits, but they had what it took on the inside. This is the best fiction I have ever read in my life. There were times I laughed, shivered, or even cried. This book really is one that will break the shell of your heart and touch you. I have read it twice now and am on my third time. I want to keep reliving the adventure, and feel that same feeling I had when reading those words for the very first time. If you want to have some excitement and be swept off your feet in a book. Read this!

Summary: A captivating work
Review: The Lord of the Rings is an excellent work of fantasy. I was enchanted by The Hobbit(the prelude to Lord of the Rings)and had to read the rest. I was not dissapointed by the trilogy. The story easily grasps your attention. In fact, there were times that I was not aware of my surroundings because I was so into the books. Tolkien's descriptions are so rich it is easy to picture the settings. I reccomend these books to anyone in need of reading excellent literature.

Summary: The journey of the Ring is long but worth the trip!
Review: The journey of the ring with the hobbits and their companions is long but worth the trip. The reader will encounter a number of interesting people and places along the way. There are also plenty of unexpected twists and turns as one treks through this series of adventures. Those curious and wonderful hobbits are your guides on this trip. So put on your favorite walking shoes and have a good read. Remember to write!

Summary: Recommended for all ages...
Review: Good book! The Hobbit is fast-paced and very entertaining. The Lord Of The Ring trilogy is a landmark work in this genre (like Star Wars trilogy for sci-fi genre). Although a little bit slow in the first volume (Fellowship of The Ring), but it gets better and better in the second and third book.
