Summary: superb
Review: All of Tolkiens works are superb! I started on them at about 7 years old with The Hobbit, and I have since worn out one copy of the Lord of the Rings and am well on my way to needing a third copy. No other fantasy compares, for the read at any time. When I finish the Lord of the Rings, I cannot just go on to another author right away, like I can with any other author. You have to admire his characters, especially the hobbits.

Summary: A splendid retelling of a thousand myths
Review: Over the years while our two children were growing up, I read these four books --outloud-- to them three times! Prior to the first time, I read them for myself...so there's little need to assure you of my deep feelings about all of these experiences. At times, I've found, it is near to impossible to read some of Tolkien's scenes...death, loss of friendships, great beauty discovered, revelations, the icy, hidden meanings of some of our strongest personal beliefs, all help define our lives and understand his. These are powerful, emotional books that belong in any basic library -- they will repay you each time you revisit. Moreover, reading them outloud (the party at Rivendell [in The Fellowship of the Ring] comes to mind as a good section to test this for yourself) will give you a different view of these works. Speaking the text adds "performance" to the words that silent reading does not always bring to light. And, if you're lucky to have some nearby, youngsters will respond to the beauty of Tolkien's writing in ways that may surprise you.

Summary: Readers of Robert Jordan Beware!!
Review: Tolkien's works are classic fantasy. Robert Jordan is modern fantasy. They are two very different genres with an equally avid, but extremely different following. A spare few can truly enjoy both. I was deeply disappointed that I could not like Tolkien's writings, however I tried. But then, I don't like seafood or cheesecake, so what do I know.? Unless you're a die-hard Robert Jordan fan, I'd reccommend giving the books a shot. Hey, everybody else likes them.

Summary: AN OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE
Review: Although I'm quite fluent in English, I read this wonderful book in it's portuguese version. Later on, I read The Hobbit in the original version. I assure you: the magic is the same, no matter the language it was verted to. Spiritual realms, fascinating creatures, epic battles... the most remote and hidden feelings that lay in human soul arises strongly in Tolkien fantasy. The Lord of The Rings trilogy is a book to remeber. Forever!

Summary: Not just a 10, but borderline 11
Review: Simply put, The Two Towers is 33.3% of the best book ever. The others of course are the Fellowship of the Ring and the Return of the King. Some consider this as a trilogy, but its really just one long, awesome book. Action, adventure, majik, different races.. Everything to create an awesome work of literature is here. If you enjoy ANYTHING that has to do with science fantasy, TRUST ME!! Tolkien will be your favorite author on the subject.

Summary: Awsome!

Summary: Awesome Series Of Books
Review: I just finished reading The LOTR trilogy and The Hobbit this morning. The series occupied 3 months of my life (yes, i read slow). Man, was that a quarter of a year well invested. It was a masterpiece of unimaginable worth. The way Tolkien teaches you about humanity and heroes is far better than any experience i've had in my 18 yrs. of life. The way Tolkien writes is so vivid and detailed, one can tend to get lost in the Middle-Earth world he creates. READ THIS BOOK! READ THIS BOOK!
