Rating: Summary: My favorite book Review: I think this book is as 'heavy' as any other philosophical works written for adults. The only difference is that it is filled with creative imaginations and wonderful fantasies that render it the most enjoyable! One can really read into the meaning of every character and every episode found within this large-scale drama. What I found amazing was that the stories and the characters are very symmetrically patterned and most often dualistic. The Good and the Evil, the Nothing and the Empress, the real world and the Fantasia, Bastian the weakling and Atreyu the hero, the Night forest and the Day dessert....But the stories are also cyclic, as if in Buddhist philosophy, in the endless sprouting of imaganation and the perpetual cycle of life and death itself. Although I have read the book so many times in the past, I think I will sit down and read it once more today. Fantasia, here I come
Rating: Summary: Expand your imagination Review: After I saw the movie,I decided to read this book.
I found more "Movie Efect" through out the pages. The magical Oring, the childlike Princess, the colorful lion in the desert, the neverending story book that write itself for all the time, the white luck dragon .... You will love it and read it again and again after you enter mindly in to the land of Fantasia, but you will never get lost in there, because you have so many lovely friends from the story. And after you finish it,you shall realize that there's always an begining after the end.
There's no really bad guys in the story, but the only thing to destroy the dreamland is the lose of our imagination. So keep your mind going on working and get the access to Fantasia.
Rating: Summary: This book was THE BEST Review: I started reading at a very young age. I loved fantasty books, and this one was in a closet somewhere. I found it, thought it looks neato, and whoa. It was my favorite then, and still my favorite now. The adventures that go on are really catching. I couldn't put the book down because I always wanted to find out what happened next. And something always did
Rating: Summary: A childs gateway into a fantisy world. Review: When I first picked up this book, I never stopped reading it. It took me into the world of "The NeverEnding Story." Their world (Fantasia) is being destroyed by The Nothing. Bastin a young stoled the book from Mr. Koriander, and he was transported to their world to save the child like empress. This book send me into Fantasia. Where many of my feelings shown. Tears of joy, sadness, and my mind left boggled. What is going to happen next. The is true.... "We are all part of The NeverEnding Story." Each day a new page is written, as I am writing this now, it is being printed elsewhere. This book a must read for all people of all ages. Let Michael Ende, take you to a world of worders. Travel with Autrue as he crosses the swamp of sadness, be with him when appears with hestation at the orical, be with mim Ivy Tower, be with him when he fights to try to save the Chld Like Empress from the Nothing. This book was well writen and still read to this day
Rating: Summary: do yourself a favor - get a hardcover copy. Review: This book is everything everyone else has said about it and more. It has changed my life. i know i've read it over 10 times, and every time i do there's something new to be found in it - but here's a caveat. If you buy a nice hardcover copy, the two worlds are printed in two different colors of ink, red and green. This is wonderful. If you buy a paperback, the story (incredible) is the same, but instead of being bi-colored, you know you're in the real world because the print is italicized, and when you enter Fantastica, the print is regular. Bleah. Have a paperback to keep in your backpack for long bus rides, but get yourself a hardcover copy too. Because i said so. You'll never regret it
Rating: Summary: Fanstastic! Review: This book is rivoting! The first time I read it, I was about 10 years old:)and never thought there could be a book so spellbindingly magical as this one. I couldn't put the book down and I read through the night even though my mom would've killed me if she found out! It's been over 10 years since I first read this book and I still get goosebumps everytime I hold this treasure. Bastian takes you to a place filled with passion, fear, and love. He takes you on a magical carpet ride through the Swamps of Sadness, the Ivory Tower, and the Southern Oracle, where one can discover his or her true identity. I learned that if we lie to ourselves about what the Truth holds in store for us, then mystical Fantasia and our imagination will suffer the consequences. You wouldn't want that to happen, would you? So, if you're in for a treat--read The Neverending Story, and fulfill your wildest fantasies
Rating: Summary: Unique presentation..... Review: This story is unique enough in that it is TRULY a neverending story! It quickly involves the indivdual reader in Bastian's everyday life. But soon, you are so caught up in the story trail that you have to focus on reality versus fantasy.... And it moves so rapidly that the reader can hardly put it down!
Then, there is the unique presentation style!!!!!! The first letter of each chapter is done in the ornate Gothic style - in red ink! Each word after that is done in green ink. But, the presentation style is much more enjoyable because each chapter's first word begins with the next letter in the alphabet! Yep - the first chapter begins with an ornate letter "A," and the next chapter with the ornate letter "B," and so on until the last chapter beginning with the ornate letter "Z!" It is quite an entertaining and artistic touch!
Very readable material for both adolescents and adults alike........ I ready it while in the last weeks of pregnancy with my youngest son - who is named Sebastian......
Rating: Summary: Very best of all times Review: I dont know how it sounds for american culture but for me as a Turk, the book is a must-read. Are you sick of all that surrounds your life (ok, most of what you're unaware of) ? Then let the book takes you to another world where you live (as the pages go) a life the way you could have imagined (sure even more).
I dont know the american versions but in the turkish version the text is printed in two colors. If you are in the real world the color is green but if you are there (namely fantasia) the color changes to be pinky.
I love pinky since then !
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully creative and insightfull...premium fantasy. Review: Michael Ende's translation of this German story is a delightful exploration of rich fantasy literature. This is a book that I practically read in one sitting, because I so invloved myself with the book's characters. Children and adults alike will enjoy this story of other worlds, magic, and creatures that spur the imagination. My one grievance with The Neverending Story is that I was bombarded with a multitude of shortlived characters that I would have liked to have seen developed more thoroughly. All in all an excellent selection for any fantasy fan
Rating: Summary: Fantastia is Fantastic!!! Review: ok I admit i didn't think its was gonna be verry good. I mean I loved he movie but i wasn't in to books or that kind of thing when i got but once i started reading it I couldn't stop. It filled my heart with every thing a book should. Now i can barly watch the movie cause all i think of is thats not how it was in the book. But I loved the book and i think if you like a good story or you love the Lord Of The Rings books you should pic this one up. (...)
