Summary: A truly inspiring and wonder-filled novel
Review: I was a child when I first saw "The Neverending Story", and saw within the credits, "based upon the novel "The Neverending Story", by Micheal Ende". Curious, I went to the library and checked out the book...needless to say, it was the longest novel I had ever read to that point. But I loved every moment of it. That book inspired in me a love of reading that is still with me to this day, and "sentimental" as some reviews may call it, there is a theme of HOPE in the book...and implicit in the story, that fills me with joy each time I think of it. Treat yourself...treat your children...go buy a copy and give it to someone who needs hope right now. I guarantee they'll never forget it.

Summary: This is my favorite book!
Review: I read The Never- Ending Story for the first time when I was 12. Now that I'm in college I still think that it is the best book I've ever read (and I've read a lot of them). It is far more than a children's book; readers of all ages should treasure it. I learn something new from it each time I re- read it. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: This is my favorite fantasy book!
Review: I am 8 years old and I LOVE this book! I read it and re-read it all of the time! When you read it, you have no idea what is going to happen next, and that's what makes it exciting! There are many creatures you know, like dragons, but there are also creatures that you wonder about, like rock chewers! The movie of this book is good, but they cannot put in what the book can put in! I think that you could take 7 (or more) movies out of this book. I URGE you to read The Neverending Story!

Summary: One Of My Best Childhood Memories!
Review: I first read the The Neverending Story a couple of years agowhen I was about 12 and I loved it from the very start! It is a powerful and captivating story and I personally can't understand people who don't like it! But please don't bother watching the movies though! They are not worth your time, especially when you know the book! I was very surprised when I came to the US (I am German) and found that most of the people here either haven't read it or even don't even know about it! This is pretty sad and I am trying to change that at least a little bit by recommending it to everybody and by givng at as a present to my friends! If you haven't read it so far, do it NOW! To give a "summary" of it would be a crime, you really have to read it, there is no way around it!

Summary: One of the Best Books I ever read!
Review: The Neverending Story was one of the best books i ever read. The plot was excellent and it was exciting the whole way through. Even though it was 444 pages long, i read it in one night (and i don't go to speed reading classes). The story just kept going and going and there was something new in each chapter. For people who have seen the movies, THE MOVIES SUCK compared to the book, especially the second movie it is totally wrong and missed a ton of spots. I suggest that you get this book as soon as possible and read it 10 times over.

Summary: The BEST book I've ever read
Review: I can't believe the way Mr. Ende has set up thisbook. I love this book and have fuond no one except Amazon books who carry it. I've read this book two times already. I was so mezmirized by it that I want to keep reading it. Every time I read it I find something new that I missed the first time that I read it.

Summary: A letter to the late Michael Ende
Review: Michael Ende, Master Storyteller
I wish to thank you, Mr. Ende, even though you are no longer with us. It's odd, really (or not so, given the nature of your story), that I should be writing a letter of thanks to a person who cannot physically receive it. Your tale, though I have not finished reading it, the "Neverending Story," has set my heart adrift with dreams of unreality. And I cannot, in this mere medium, convey in enough words, with enough eloquence, the joy in my heart that your book is inspiring. The characters, the settings, the imagery, the story itself transport me to a world that only you have had the foresight and courage to create. Thank you for allowing me to journey through it, along with the rest of the waking world.
The tale has inspired me to continue my writing. How odd that should seem, to me. But the mere possibility that those same stories might live in their own realities gives me the strength to write them. Your dream has unlocked my imagination all the more- a gift from you personally that I cannot begin to repay. All that I can do is thank you and Dear God that the world has been blessed with your vision and insight. Whether your story is merely a parable about something else entirely, or it is about only what is portrayed therein, it is truly fantastic.
Since my childhood I have often wondered, even so recently as a few months ago, in passing, if there ever was a real book entitled "The Neverending Story." This happy and wonderful discovery, amazingly beneath my very nose, has answered my question. And I am more than happy with the answer. Justly so, life is full of many mysteries and I am glad to have met up with this one. I can only pray that the rest of your engaging tales keep me as enthralled to the end as they have from the beginning.
Again, thank you.

The next night:
I have finished reading your expertly woven tapestry of dreams. A part of me wonders, quietly (and I hope not too irreverently), if someone else, perhaps even I one day, will have the conviction to pick up where you left off. To visit... "a story for another time." Such a splendid world you have given us, your fellow human beings! Thank you a thousand times! Thank you!

Forever will Bastian Balthazar Bux, Atreyu, Falkor, The Childlike Empress, and all the rest of Fantastica live in my heart. May your soul be sound and well rested in light of this great deed, "The Neverending Story."

Sincerely,
Jay Seals

Summary: One of the best books of all time
Review: Since I am German I read this book in its original language several years ago. At age 11 I was captured by the story of Bastian realizing that he is able to save Fantasia.
By turning the pages and read the reader becomes more and more a part of the story. One gets sucked into it. Just like Bastian.
I could not stop reading until late at night when I mostly fell asleep over the book. You cannot hear the phone or the doorbell, you do not want to eat. You are in Fantasia.
Now, 8 years later I have read the book for the fifth time and I still feel the magic Michael Ende created when writing the Neverending Story. As long as people read this book it will be neverending because Ende makes us all feel like a part of it. Every single reader is contributing to the story and makes it last for eternity.
My advice: get the hardcover version and if you speak German, get the original "Die unendliche Geschichte", lean back and drift away to Fantasia!

Summary: Oldy but Goody
Review: I read this book a while ago, actually only a year ago, but you know how it goes from book to book. From what I remember it was an excellent book, even better than the movie (which was my childhood favorite). It combined fantasy and reality perfectly, and really gave the reader the opportunity to place themselves in the hands of the author, and let him take them wherever. I guess the sad part is, this review I mostly wrote because I found this phrase in another book and was trying to remember if it was from the Neverending story or not. "the Baobob tree" WHERE IS THAT FROM, PLEASE HELP!! EMAIL ME!! this stuff kills me. oh by the way, the best book I have ever read is Infinite Jest, it is similar to Michael's description of a million monkeys on tyepwriters. Well I'll leave it at that.
