Summary: Amazing, and know the facts first
Review: I have already written a review and said it was by far the most amazing and captivating book of my life to date. This review is for those who dissagree.

To the one who read this for english honors i think maybe you didnt understand it because you clearly cant spell.
Those people who say it was totally against christianity well it had good reason to. I am not a religious person in any way but i do know the facts and they are as follows.
1)Marion Zimmer Bradley was a christian
2)Paganism was the dominant religion in Great Britain untill christianity came into view
3) most christians were as they were depicted in the novel because they had a lack of information and most Bitish people were only interested in forming religion to there own benefit at the time.
4)Christians murdered many people of many different religions just because they wanted power so i think the pagans had a reason to be angry at them

Oh and to those people who seem to think this book is a disgrace to arthurian legend well just remember no one knows if Arthur or Avalon really and truly existed so all books on arthur are legend and not just this one.
To the one who said Pagans use this book as a bible, they dont, they just appreciate a book which gives people a better outlook on pagans and what they have struggled through to be respected. you must remember that the christians were the ones who murdered them in Ireland(St.Patrick) and im sure many other places and who also brought about the image of a witch being an ugly old hag flying on a broomstick.

If i have offended anyone i am sorry but some of these reviews really offended me and i am just stating the facts!

Summary: EXCEPTIONAL!
Review: A fresh approach to an old tale, this book is well-written page after page!! I won't even bother to explain the plot - the first few pages reel you in and you can't stop the enchantment. A reader's simple excitement of finding what the next page holds is delivered ten-fold by this book-- and is so rare a pleasure that I want you to experience it fully. Read the Editorial Reviews - see how much people like the book and leave the discovery of the tale to your own delightful adventure.
What I will tell you is that it is by far one of the most memorable, most skillfully crafted pieces of literature it has ever been my pleasure to read. NOW BUY IT!!!

Summary: Meet some Woman Power here...
Review: Once started, "The Mists of Avalon" is so totally captivating it is very hard to put aside. This isn't the subject matter I would normally choose to read, however, this book was "forcibly" loaned to me and so my obligation was to read it.(lol) And, I am very glad that I did.

Having never read a King Arthur book, and not being very familiar with the history, I am glad it was Marion Zimmer Bradley's "The Mists of Avalon" that filled the gap.

The magic in the story brings the Harry Potter books to mind. For example, the raising of the mist on the lake reminded me of Harry Potter and his friends boarding the train at platform 9 3/4.

Religious differences remind me of today's reality and make me wonder about what has been learned, or not learned, over the years.

There are several sexual encounters, for different motives, all which are important to the story.

The women in "The Mists of Avalon" are very strong. They have responsible and powerful roles which are dynamically presented.

From this book I learned some history, thoroughly enjoyed the magic, was reminded of ever present religious differences, saw Woman Power in action, and much more.

Summary: The War Between Pagans and Chistians
Review: A great book for the Pagan and christian alike. Explains, what i find a more belivable story of camalot. A fight to keep the goddess alive as "The Rise Of The Christians invade Briton". A Great Athurian Legend Story, about the war between saxons and christians, the love of Lancelot and Gwyennefar, the jealousy and betrail of Morgause, and the bueaty of Avalon.

Summary: The Legend Lives On
Review: This is a telling of the King Arthur saga that will forever change the way you look at the story. It is told mostly from the point of view of Morgaine, half sister of Arthur, who is usually portrayed as the evil sorceress in other versions of the tale. In this version, Morgaine is caught up in other people's plots but stil manages to have a life of her own.

This is one of the few tellings of the saga where the Pagans are not the evil, but simply fighting to save their religion from the conquering Christians. I also liked the fact that Merlin is "the Merlin", a title, rather than a single person.

And the storytelling is absolutely magnificent. Even as fan of Marion Zimmer Bradley, this stands out as her best work by far. I loaned this book to a friend at work who came up to me and said, "I really hate you for loaning me that book." I asked why and she said, "Because I sit here at work and wonder what's happening to the characters." And yes, that is how captivating this book is.

My only problem with the book is that it has ruined every other version of the story. I can no longer watch "Merlin" or "Excalibur" or read "A Once and Future King." They feel like they are wrong. This telling feels right.

I have loaned out at least a dozen copies of this book, and then have to buy another, because it doesn't get returned. Buy it, own it, read it, read it again.

Summary: when detail and passion collide...
Review: "The mists of Avalon" is a something everyone should read. Marion Zimmer Bradley has poured her soul into this story and through the extensive detail and raging passion throughout, it shows. This book has something to offer everyone, even those who are skeptical of the ability to bring forth a new light to the Traditional Arthurian legends. That is exactly what has been done, it picks you up and never lets you go as you travel through a girls life and the struggles of religion and discrimination between the sexes that takes its tole on her body mind and soul! READ THIS BOOK!

Summary: A book to change your outlook on life
Review: When I started this book, I was only interested in reading a little more Arthurian romance. What I got instead was a rare, beautiful book that made me reevaluate my feelings about faith, gender, and love. This is a consuming book; be careful with it.

Summary: Mist Of Avalon
Review: I enjoyed this book completely. I grew up with a Celtic background and many tales about Arthur and Merlin. This story held true to many of the tales I remember. This book was fun to read and took you off to another space in time.

Summary: Wow
Review: This is the best book - hands down. Normally, I am not a fan of fiction. In fact, I hate fiction. But this book, "The Mists of Avalon" somehow slipped through my secure netting of truth (maybe because I love ancient European history). I read this book about four years ago (I inherited it from a relative who loved it too and decided to share it) and have since worn it out from rereading it constantly. There is no other book for the reader. It has everything, literally - everything. It is impossible to express how great this book is (though the rest of the series is not so hot).
