Summary: All you who don't love this book simply misunderstood it.
Review: Well, like I said at the top, you guys just don't get the book at all! Mostly you complain that Mists is "a horrid portrayal of the Arthurian Legends", but the thing is, Mists wasn't really trying to be a just another retelling of Arthur stuff, it was about the complex interactions of human nature, the human emotions of lust, love, jealousy, and hate. Mists is not meant to be a action packed adventure fantasy like Darkover. It is a master artwork that makes you really feel the entire range of humanly emotions to it's fullest. And if you had put the book down before the end, then you have really missed out on one of the best writings of our time. At the end of Mists, I had a feeling of despire and heartache that was too strong even for tears. Always I've cried easily over good writing that's supposed to make you sad. But with Mists, the tears just wouldn't do the book justice, it isn't meant to be a sob novel to make you cry, it's a probe deep into your heart that makes you feel a sorrow too great for words. No other book has made me feel this way before, and if you can only see the book as a bad Arthurian retelling, then I strongly suggest you take Mists back out and try to read it with your heart open to the waves of emotions it will wash over you.

Summary: nothing can compete with this masterpiece!
Review: I do not think that I will ever find a book that matches this. The only author capable of it would be Marion Zimmer Bradley herself. I recieved it as a birthday gift and I would feel privleged to recieve it again. I'll never read it enough times.

Summary: A beautiful account of the women behind Arthur's throne.
Review: Without a doubt, this novel has profoundly impacted my life as a reader. If you are looking for a traditional rendering of Arthurian legend, look elsewhere, but Bradley's approach to this myth which is so deeply ingrained in our culture is refreshing and eloquent.

Summary: A fairly good story about the women in King Arthur's life
Review: Once I started reading "MIsts", I was immediately hooked. I couldn't wait to finish it. When I finished reading it, I had to stop and think about everything that it taught me for awhile. While I loved the book, and the characters, I really wish that the story had more of the classic story told by Mallory and other Arthur epics. It seems to me that Bradley reasons away Gwenhyfar's infidelity( or doesn't even mention it) and that shouldn't be the case. A fairly good book, but I've read better.

Summary: An awsome story that spans a lifetime in the realms of magic
Review: Alright, I'll admit it, I bought the book because my girlfriend told me she loved it, well, since I love my girlfriend, here I am...
I started reading it not really knowingAlright, I'll admit it, I bought the book because my girlfriend told me she loved it, well, since I love my girlfriend, here I am...
I started reading it not really knowing what to expect but in a few pages I just couldn't put the book down! I've studied a little about Arthurian legends and started to wonder if Ms. Bradley would change the whole story around, or follow the legends. I admit that I thought the story started to drift from what I knew, but it didn't matter, the story, the depth at which you get to know some characters such as Morgaine is so awsome that I was happily trapped by Avalon and I ended up crying by the end of the book.
The most important thing that I learned from the novel is that there is no absolute truths, just because two people think different things, it doesn't mean that one is right and the other is wrong. I continue to like the "original" Arthurian legends, but Ms. Bradley's version is just as spellbinding and incredible.
The novel is incredible, rich and touching. Congratulations to Ms. Bradley on the book, I feel I've lived a lifetime in almost 900 pages, long live Avalon...

Summary: Too much whining from the characters!
Review: My biggest complaint about this series of books, "The Mists of Avalon," is all the women are a miserable, whinny bunch. And why is Guinevere made out to be such a shallow, bitch? It's almost as if the author has a grudge against beautiful women. In the future, it would be nice if Bradley had at least one character achieve a fulfilling relationship. Believe it of not, it's not as difficult as finding the Holy Grail.

Summary: This is a beutiful book, one that can be appreciated by all.
Review: I began this book on the first day I had off for Thanks Giving. Read for eight hours. It was a little slow at first. But once you travel through Britain with these characters, you are hooked. I am kind of biased in what I loved. It brought out the feminist in me. I loved the trials in love and war and etiquette. This book mirrors modern society and still sends you back to the romances of the past. This is what this is. Fiction with equal portions of history, romance, and the dirt on every character. You read it and imagine Avalon with the power beyond your mind's eye. It is more like your minds heart. This book makes you want to retire back into all that is simple. The majesticness of Arthur, Gwenyfar, Lancelet, and Morgaine, in each of their own ways, is enough to make the heart cry and your hand turning the page. The characters are delicious, the settings heavenly. You will follow every emotion as Bradley presents it. This is substantial and relevant for life anywhere. This is a must read. I have given it to a friend, which you may find hard to do. I have also read the prequel Lady of Avalon and am now 150 pages into The Forrest House. You have got to Read this book

Summary: Mists of Avalon
Review: This book was spectacular. It was well written and interesting. Even after 800 pages, I still wanted it to go on. If you like this book, read "The Forest House." and "Lady of Avalon." These books are great and I hope to see more of Avalon in the future!!!
