Summary: I'm Speechless!
Review: This book is the classic Arthurian legend with a twist. It made me feel really good about myself as a woman. The women normally villafied are sainted, and the saints are turned to villains. Read this book, it's worth the 900 pages.

Summary: fascinating, mystical insight...
Review: I read this book a couple of years ago and I have read a lot of books since then, and this one is still the best book I have ever read. It gives an amazing, feminine perspective on the times of King Arthur, and for me it defined a great turning point in my spirituality. The themes of goddesses, priestessess and pagansim are really fascinating and I would recommend this book to absolutely anyone, even if they aren't into fantasy or historical books. Truly a worth-while read!

Summary: Engrossing, Fantastical, Whimsical and Wonderful!
Review: This book's length intimidated me, but I found myself having to ration the last 300 pages so that I didn't "eat up" too much at one time. I didn't want it to end. The characters were very well developed, and this book really stands out among the prequels/etc. that Bradley has written. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Summary: Absorbing, but....
Review: I read this book some years ago and was absolutely absorbed and captivated by it. Now I wonder, not in the spiritual but in the sceptical sense and find much sympathy with other reviewers who found much to criticize, especially the "demonizing one's enemies" which she accuses the Christians as doing. Truly, we know little about the culture of BRitain 2,000 years ago and I doubt that society was so idyllic if and when it was matriarchal. Basically, "Mists" is a way of an artist expressing her yearning for a better world in which women (or, more nearly, "me") are more loved and respected. Surely that's something we all long for, but "unfortunately" that world will not come about by yearning but only by doing one's best to live the way of serving love that Jesus taught and demonstrated, whatever his "followers" may have subsequently done. Rev Sun Myung Moon and his Unification Movement are the best example of people who are trying to do this, and interestingly, Rev Moon teaches the joint male and female nature of God and seriously attempts (and I believes succeeds) to live out being in the image of that God by creating a loving, respectful, equal relationship with his spouse. Check out the Unification Movement, Ms Bradley: you may find something that helps you find what you are looking for.

Summary: If I had only five books on a deserted island, here's one!
Review: I've read and re-read this book many times, as well as enjoyed the audio cassette version, which is excellent. The Aurthurian legend told from the women's perspective is both timely and transports one back to the fantasy realm of childhood. Simply a superb book.

Summary: Peaks too early and drags on a bit.
Review: Overall a wonderful book. I would hav given 5 stars, but the author has the most climactic part of the story occurring 3/4 of the way through. It sort of limps along afterwards.

Still, a good read

Summary: Seen in a way that only a woman could understand
Review: Oh my where can I begin? This was a wonderful, thought provoking story. How could I not fall in love with all the characters, even the overly pious Gwen. Bradley made you love or hate every character in this Story and when I finished this book, how could I not cry? This story instilled in my young heart ideas that I had never truly considered. The ideas of life and death that I could not experience yet. She took us through the life's of the characters in a way like no other author has ever been daring enough to try. And just look at the master piece she has created, a novel that I will remember for a long time.

Summary: Yuck
Review: As a teenager, I loved this book. Now I am 30, and have this to say:

- much too long - bad ending - demonizing one's opponents: the hallmark of the bad writer
