Summary: The best book I've ever read!
Review: Bradley made a beautiful work writing this book. The characters are alive, and I really liked them. I loved the book so much I read it already 3 times since I bought him (and it was last year). I recommend it gladly and say that Gwenhwyfar is the best of all there! AMAZING!

Summary: The Mists of Avalon
Review: The Mists of Avalon is a very descriptive and touching book about the Arthurian Legends. For once it takes the standpoint of the woman in King Arthur's life. You truly care about the characters, they are multidemensional and alive. In addition to the obvious Arthurian legend, there is the sub-plot of the struggle to keep the Celtic religion alive in Ancient Britan. It addresses the mystical land of Avalon and it's part in King Arthur's life. Told from the stand point of Guinivere and Morgaine it is truly a work of art. I recommend this book to anyone!

Summary: Great representation of Morgana's point of view!
Review: Marion Zimmer Bradley did an excellent job writing this book from the perspective of Morgana le Fay. It was a great contrast to the story done by Sir Thomas Mallory.

Summary: Great work of FANTASY not reality
Review: First of all, this is an excellent fantasy novel about the Arthurian legends. Every time I've read it, it left my imagination whirling for days. Mists of Avalon has a wonderfully unique perspective from Morgan Le Fay's point of view as well as a cool spin on the whole spread of Christianity during the time period. The only thing that disturbs me is that the book is so good at blurring fact and fiction, that people tend to forget that at the heart of it all is a fantasy novel. There is actually very little fact about Celtic history or religion in the book. It would surprise some fans of this book to learn that the Celts were probably more warlike than the Romans, as tolerant of women as the Saurcens, and no more nature respecting than any other tribe of people in the world at that time. Marian is writing good FANTASY here people. Writers like Morgan Llywelyn do a better job at getting the facts strait about the Celtic people. So before running off to go paint blue crescent moons out your foreheads after reading this book, do some research :)

Summary: A Warning For The Men
Review: While there's no question in my mind that Bradley is an astounding writer, I urge all men, especially fans of the cold and brutal legends of King Arthur to NOT read this book. Bradley takes romantic reworking to new and rather appaling levels in this retelling from the women's point of view. As an example, she somehow manages to make every rape, including the one of Arthur by his sister, into a beautiful, romantic affair. As an aside, it's notable that much of the book is almost documentary worthy descriptions of Wicca and its practices. Books with this much religious sympathizing of Christian practices are classifiable as "Christian Fantasy". I actually started to feel preached to after several hundred pages of it.

Men, read with caution. Or stick with Malory.

Summary: The Mists of Avalon
Review: I found The Mists of Avalon to be an amazing masterpiece of literary achievement. It was perhaps one of the most moving, realistic and beautifully inspiring books I have ever read. The characters are mulit-faceted and the reader will find themselves truly unable to put the book down. It is a wonderful blend of romance, intrigue, mystery, passion, history and fantasy. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to be wisked away to a far-off land full of surprises and magic.

Summary: The Mists of Avalon
Review: This book was by far my favorite ever. I assumed that it would be difficult for me to finish all 876 pages of it before I died, but I some how managed! The characters in the book are incrediably well rounded and the author allows the reader to see events from many angles. I especially liked how the whole plot was based on fact. I'm not entirely sure just how much of it was true, but enough was to allow me to gain somewhat of a grasp for the Arthurian ledgens. I usually don't enjoy fantasy/scifi books, but this one kept my attention very easily. It had a little of ever classification of book. A little romance, a lot of adventure, mystery, and fantasy. It's a great read which I highly recorrmend! It will change your entire outlook!

Summary: The best book I've ever read
Review: This book was amazing and it helped me to grow personally. I've read it 3 or 4 times and I still find new fachets of depth and new understanding every time I read it. The characters are alive and multidemensional. They somehow bring the story life and make it seem as if they could be standing beside you, crying, talking, raging loving, living as you turn the pages. Marion Zimmer Bradley has spun a most amazing re-creating of the Arthurian Legends that takes one away to another time and space, another world, perhaps, where you cry , love, and rage because it seems as if you yourself are part of the story. All at once you are Morgaine, Gwenhwyfar, Lancelet, and Arthur. This is a phenomonal book that is a read of lifetime.

Summary: Thought provoking
Review: Even though the characters referred to in this book lived centuries ago, their perspective still offers insight into the minds of females today. On the one hand you have Gwenhyfar, the subservient wife bound to a man who she cannot love, and on the other hand you have Morgaine, the independant and liberated woman who cannot find happiness. This book is one of the first retellings of history from a female perspective. The Mists of Avalon is a feminist masterpiece.
