Summary: Amazing book!!!
Review: 'The Hobbit' is the best book I can think of. It has to be something about the descriptive writing he uses in the book, and the way he describes the creatures. His writing is just so powerful that you just sit there for hours reading away. I've noticed that the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy is very popular, and most people are J.R.R. Tolkien fans. But what a lot of people don't know is that "The Hobbit" has a very deep connection with the plot of 'the Lord of the Rings'. It is not actually part of the series, but I guess you could call it a prologue. Read this book if you want to know how the trilogy began. Or, like I did, just read it cause it's an awesomely good book!

Summary: There are Problems, but Don't Miss it!
Review: It bothers some people that so many of the characters in the Hobbit are undeveloped. Only Bilbo, Gandalf, and Gollum shine. This, however, is still workable. With Thorin as a distinct personality among the Dwarves, the others function all right as a group with whom Bilbo doesn't really interact on a personal level.
A much more serious problem exists in the Hobbit - the mid-book action is too good! "Riddles in the Dark" makes such a memorable literary impression that following adventures, even if good, would pale. Worse, after Mirkwood, the book just peters out. The interview with Smaug stands out in an island of otherwise mediocre action. The Battle of Five Armies is almost skipped, definitely lacking the emotion of meeting the Goblins in the Misty Mountains. Bilbo's stealthy dealing with the Arkenstone adds some interest, but the end of this otherwise marvelous book just falls down.
But don't mistake criticism for dislike. Even recognizing this, the Hobbit stands as an adventure akin to Treasure Island or the Wind in the Willows. The stay-at-home off to a grand quest makes for a wonderful beginning, the Trolls are fine, the eagles soar, Beorn is intriguing, and Mirkwood is haunting. The child who misses the experience of the Hobbit must face the only remedy - he or she must read it as an adult!

Summary: The Hobbit or There and Back Again
Review: "The Hobbit or There and Back Again" is a great fantasy book written by the author J.R.R. Tolkien. Being a prequel to the fantastic "Lord of the Rings" book trilogy "The Hobbit" is not a book to miss out on for reading. "The Hobbit" is filled with fantasy, adventure, and literature. If you think that this book is for children only then you are very wrong. "The Hobbit" is a great fantasy book for both children and adults. There are many fantasy characters in "The Hobbit" book. And they are: trolls, orcs, a dragon, a wizard, a hobbit (which is a halfling), elves, dwarves, and much more. This book is one of my most favorite books to read along side with the author J.R.R. Tolkiens "Lord of the Rings" book trilogy. If you are looking for a good fantasy/adventure book to read then "The Hobbit or There and Back Again" is the book for you.

Summary: a page-turner
Review: i used to think i would hate lotr books, never having been a fan of the genre and dwarfs, elves, etc...
i borrowed hobbit off a freind and picked it up till i could find something else to read. But, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! I LOVED every minute reading it, and had to literally force myself to leave it! The characters are likeable and real, not the stereotypes i expected, and the plot is fast-paced and keeps you riveted, with lots of action and suspense. I found one particulair scene with smaug the dragon, breath-taking.
Im shocked that I liked it so much, really didnt expect to! Next im getting the lotr trilogy- never thought i'd say that!

Summary: the hobbit by JRR Tolkien
Review: The book 'The Hobbit' is a book about Bilbo Bagging. He has been chosen as a 14th person. It was goin to b 13 'little people' but 13 is a odd number so it's 14. Before Bilbo knew it he was off on an adventure. He goes of to slay a dragon.....who would actually do this? This is a fairytale story for old and young people. It is told in detail, it tells you more thigs than what you actually need to know. i think if you want to have a book you can start and not put down you should definately read this book!

Summary: the hobbit
Review: If you liked The Lord of The Rings series then you should read The Hobbit. The Hobbit is the book that started the adventure of the Lord of The Rings. It is very descriptive and easy to picture the characters and the places that Tolkien writes about. The Hobbit is a mix of adventure & fantasy. Do you like books with wizards, dragons, elves & lost treasure? If you do then the book The Hobbit is the book for you. This is the story about a quiet hobbit called Bilbo Baggins of the shire. Bilbo goes on many adventures, but when he meets thirteen dwarves & one wizard he goes with them and they embark on a quest that Bilbo will never forget. Read all about the dangers he faces like the dragon Smaug, and how the One Ring came to be found by him in golem's cave. If you read this book you will learn that all heroes come in all sizes. Even the smallest person can make a difference.

Summary: The Hobbit
Review: Have you ever thought of slaying a dragon? That is what Bilbo Baggins does in this book. Bilbo is an innocent hobbit who does not know anything about the wide world. Suddenly he finds himself in a great adventure to slay a dragon. Bilbo leaves the Shire and goes to the city of Dale. He goes though seven obstacles. On the way he finds a ring that makes him invisible. This story will lead into the series Lord of the Rings. J.R.R Tolkien makes a whole new world in your imagination. People ages 6 to 60 would love this book. This book is much like Brian Jacques. I think you should read this adventurous and magical book.
