Review: THIS IS THE BEST STORY EVER TOLD. no one in the future will ever be able to top a classic like this.never.Tolkien is the MASTER of all fantasy, and something a little more.he introduced fantasy A LOT better. it was because of his vivid, fantastic imagination that we even have all these other stories about fantasy. as far as im concerned, his book,The Lord Of The Rings,is the gateway to all the other great fantasy books.this is the one ORIGINAL fantasy.so,I encourage ALL of you to read this classic before it gets drowned in time.read it while you can.TOLKIEN IS FOREVER KING......NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS.

Summary: Catholic allegory tale
Review: Tolkein was a devout Catholic and this book is the consummate tale of good vs. evil. Many of the characters are religious figures.

Summary: What can I Say?
Review: If you have not read this book, but are thinking about it, please READ IT!!!!!! I can't tell you enough! Like the reader from the college town in New York said, this is NOT just a book for D&D fans, or readers of most fantasy books. I've read lots of so-called "classics" modern and old, and this is by far the best book that I have ever read. It is moving, beautiful, lyrical, exciting....the list goes on and on. And to the person who said that if this is your favorite book, you have to expand your library, I believe that if I could only read one book in my entire life, this would be it.

Summary: I mean, come on---it's The Lord of the Rings
Review: The one problem I have is that most of the people who read this classic today are D&D fantasy geeks, and that's just really sad. This is so much better and has so much more meaning than any of that other fantasy crap, but it has a bad label put on it by all of those dweebs. This is a classic which should be taught in high school and college English courses. If it was good enough for the hippies and for Led Zeppelin, it's good enough for the rest of us. Hands off, fringe nerds!

Summary: One of the two best Trilogies! Ever!!
Review: IMHO, this trilogy stands out beyond all others because of its wonderful imagery, characters and gripping story. The fact that many of the themes underlying the story relate so well to real life makes the story more personal and individual. No matter how many different people read this series each has their own special take on it. This is a absolute must own for all discerning readers.

Summary: just finished this book
Review: I just read this book over my 5 day spring break. Unbelievable. I couldn't set it down. Tolkien writes with such detail that it seems as though Middle Earth is real, and perhaps the world we live in is fiction. This book instantly jumped to the top of my favorite books list.

Summary: A standard by which to compare?
Review: How many new fantasy and science fiction series are compared in there reviews to The Lord of The Rings? Just have a look at the back covers of some other books in the fantasy section; again and again they are compared with the incomporable, and yet rarely with each other. This fact says it all

Summary: No words can express how I feel.
Review: I read this book for the first time at 16, three years ago, in December 1996. I simply love it. It is true that once you have read it, you can't be the same person you were when you started it. It changes yourself deeply, it becomes a part of your heart... Please, don't try to analyse it from a mere rational point of view: I tried to, and it was a difficult and unsuccesful work. Perhaps that inside this book there are literary intentions that can't be "rationally" shared, but do I really have to care? My birthday is in December, and during this month every year I start reading again "The Lord of the Rings". While I become older, I somehow save my soul from the violence of reality. This is the story of my life. Give this book to children, try to educate them to courage and nobilty. Just a little final note: some literary critics said that Tolkien expressed in his works a fascist point of view. I don't think they have ever read "The Lord of the Rings", or, if they have, they couldn't understand a word.
