Summary: Standard for all other Fantasy books
Review: Brilliant, magnificent, stunning... Tolkiens lord of the flies sets the bar for all other fantasy books. Leaving nothing to be desired exept more to read it utilizes every aspect of the imagination. Near impossible to put down I have yet to come across a book of this calaber.

Summary: The SHEER BRILLIANCE left me speechless!!!!
Review: Seeing as I'm only 14 years of age, people thought I would be too young to read a book such as the Lord of the Rings, but I couldn't put it down! I never left my seat for days( except to go to school)as the story left me hooked!! If I wasn't a Fantasy addict before, I certainly am one now. Those who never read Fantasy are missing out on alot. From the very first page I turned to the very last, left a mark in me that will last a life time. I will read it again and again, and again...

Summary: I love these books
Review: J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of Rings" is the best set of books I have ever read, along with the Hobbit. Thats all thanks. Add three more stars please.

Summary: Highly overrated.
Review: I am really tired of listening everyone gush about how Tolkien is 'God' of fantasy. The trilogy is a wonderful story with a great deal of detail and history behind it. It was one of the earliest epic fantasy trilogies of our time. It is not the best one. It doesn't define the genre, it is merely defined BY the genre. To tell you the truth (I swear) I stopped reading in the middle of 'The Two Towers' because the story was just too slow for me. I had to go back and finish it (the trilogy) a couple of years later. Meanwhile I was occupying my time with authors such as Robert Jordan, Stephen R Donaldson, and David Eddings who are (arguably, and I'm sure you all want to argue the point) better at the craft of storytelling. Call me a blasphemer at the altar of 'Tolkien-ness', I'll just say that I am honest. I refuse to buy into the 'everyone else thinks that Tolkien is cool, so I better think so, too' kind of mentality that has developed. Four stars. Nothing more. 'Nuff said.

Summary: Epic, mythical, and beautiful
Review: The Lord of the Rings is by far the best work in fantasy literature. I have tried to read other books of the genre, and none can compare to The Lord of the Rings. Most of the others, in fact, have their basis in this book, the definitive novel of the fantasy genre, and are too childish or silly to give a second glance. This book was original when it first came out, and it is a monumental work: the author even created languages, which he uses at points within the novel. All the main characters are unforgettable: Frodo Baggins, Gandalf, Sam Gamgee, and especially the villain, the Dark Lord Sauron. It's a beautiful book; it begins in a cozy, peaceful atmosphere, which is threatened by distant trouble brewing. By the time it is finished, that trouble has blown up in your face. It is epic, and it is sad, too. I truly felt sorry that this world that Tolkien had created, of Elves and Hobbits and Dwarves, was just beginning to fade away by the end of the book. If you like fantasy, you must read this.

Summary: What do you read after The Lord of the Rings?
Review: I read The Hobbit in high school and I started The Fellowship of the Ring in college twenty years ago. Last fall I read the entire trilogy starting with The Fellowship of the Ring (my favorite) and it is difficult to describe how satisfying the experience was. It is interesting how reading The Fellowship of the Ring at age 38 differs from my first reading twenty years ago. Frodo leaves his comfortable life to go on an adventure. He does not know where it will take him, what he will encounter while on the journey, nor exactly what his mission will be. I'm no professor so I can't give a slick review of the work, but after you have read The Lord of the Rings you will have a difficult time selecting a book which will grab you and take hold of your imagination like the trilogy. It's like when I saw the Eagles in their "When Hell Freezes Over" tour. How can you go to a better concert when you just saw the best?

Summary: One of the all time best pieces of literature ever!
Review: There are so many reasons that this book is a timeless classic. Not the least because Tolkien was the pioneer of the fantasy genre. Anyone who cannot appreciate Tolkien's writing should not bother trying to read any book of any type.

Summary: The best book in the world
Review: This book is incredible. Certainly I never read one book so long in so less time. Tolkien is amazing, he insert you in the history so easily thet you feel you are the hero of the adventure

Summary: Brilliant!!!!!!!
Review: The English speaking world is divided in two: those who have read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, and those who haven't. I have read it four times in the past two years and will continue to reread until I am an old man. But I can honestly say (and those who have read it in excess of 20 times will vouch for me) it NEVER gets boring.

Summary: The enchanting book of the ages, The Lord of the Rings.
Review: This book is, not possibly, not maybe, but is the greatest book ever writen. This book will make your heart swell, your mind expand, your eyes widen, and your every dream come true. Im saying this because before I read The Hobbit I had no desire to read, in fact I could not even keep my attention on a book for more than a minute. When my 8th grade teacher gave me a copy of The Hobbit I found that I could not put it down I read it three times. My thirst for Tolkien books had begun. I found myself reading The Lord of the Rings. I was forever changed, this book is by far the most influential book ever. It ranks up to the Bible,Romeo & Juliet, Dune, and One Flew Over The Cuckoos .
