Summary: It's a thrilling adventure for freedom against the Tripods.
Review: I love The White Mountains because it shows a lot of suspence and symbolies a lot on how people fight for freedom. This book adds a whole lot of meanings to the words hate, love, and expecially freedom. So, I recommend this book to anyone who is ready to travel an adventure to the White Mountains in search for freedom against the Tripod army.

Summary: Sci-Fi readers rejoice!! The White Mountains is here!!
Review: I love this book!!!!!!!! I think the best kind of sci-fi book is a book that is mysterious towards the beginning, then it all comes together and gets explained. All this happened by the second chapter!!!I like the fact that this book has no mention of most landmark's or object's names, but rather describes them, and leaves the guesswork up to you(an example is the "steel eggs". When you pull the ring out of a steel egg, throw it, and count to seven, they explode). I loved this book and it was one of the best examples of science fiction I've read. What's better, there are two more books in the series, and a prequel!!!*joy*

Summary: It sounded so real!
Review: This book, The White Mountains is the first in the Tripod's Trilogy. It is about 3 kids who are fleeing from the tripod's rule to go live in the colony of free people. I would have rated this book a ten if the ending didn't end so fast.

Summary: This is a good book!
Review: The novel The White Mountains is a science fiction story written by John Christopher. The setting in The White Mountains is England, the English channel, France, and the Alps. The main character is an English boy named Will Parker, and the minor characters are his cousin Henry Parker and a French boy named "Zhan-pole," whom Will and Henry call Beanpole. The world described in the novel has many differences from our world today. In many ways, it is like our past around hundred years ago. There are no cars, planes, glasses and only very primitive trains. Humans have less technology and are mostly farmers. In this time humans are ruled by colossal mechanical machines called "Tripods," which have very advanced technology. Humans don't question the Tripods because they are "capped." Being capped is a process where the Tripod picks up the human and puts a metal half sphere on his or her head, causing the human to lose a little of his or her individuality. These differences are what makes the book unique. The novel starts with the main character Will seeing his best friend and cousin Jack being capped. Then Will meets a free man named Ozymandias from the White Mountains pretending to be a "Vagrant." Vagrants are humans who had a mishap in the capping making them crazy. Ozymandias gives Will a map and a compass and then Will is off. Unbeknownst to Will, Henry follows him. Will and Henry go with Captain Curtis across the English channel, and are kidnapped by the French. This is where they meet Beanpole. Then they wander into an ancient mall where they find grenades and mistakenly find out how to use them. Will is hurt and then a French man hunting finds them and brings them to the castle. As soon as Will is better they are going to run away, but that night a Tripod comes. Will tries to outrun it on horseback but it picks him up and puts a tracking device on him without him knowing. Later when they realizes that they are being tracked, they cut the tracking device aw! ay from Will's arm. As soon as they do this a Tripod comes, and they destroy it with the grenades. Then they have to hide behind a rock for two days because the other Tripods are searching for the destroyers of the Tripod. In the end they get to the White Mountains and await their next adventure. Three adjectives a reader could use for this book are fascinating, thrilling, and mystifying. It is fascinating because they think people in our time are ancient but they are like a hundred years ago in our time. It is thrilling because they have to evade many Tripods and have to destroy one. It is mystifying because it makes you wonder what are the Tripod's motives? Who are they? Where do they come from? This book is recommended to anyone who likes science fiction.

Summary: An exciting and nerve-racking adventure!
Review: The White Mountains is written by John Christopher. In this book, there are four main charcters: Will, Henry, Beanpole (Jean-Paul,) and the Tripods, who are the protagonists. There is a process which is called being "capped." Being capped makes the men and women who wear them docile and obedient. Will and Henry must escape to the White Mountains, in order to avoid being capped. Beanpole joins the pair later on in their journey. The trio encounter many problems along the way. But will they get caught by the Tripods? Will they make it to the White Mountains? Read this book to find out!

Summary: This book turned me on to Sci Fi!
Review: I was surprized that a book like this interested me so much! It mesmerized me from the very first page! I remember thinking that..since it was a story about 2 boys,I wouldn't be interested, being a female teenager, yet the story turned me on to sci-fi in general! I read the whole trilogy series and am now saving this book for my own children, hoping it will open their eyes to sci-fi as much as did mine:) Very easy, smooth reading.

Summary: A book with fast action and one exiting twist after another
Review: This Sci-fi adventure book packed with fast paced action with a theme of determination had to be written by John Christopher, author of several trilogies. It begins in a small country town, perfectly normal, exept for the three-legged, mysterious all powerful tripods and metal mind-controlling caps. Will (the main character) is told to run away by a mysterious traveller. He is directed to the White Mountains, and with the help of his cousin and a french brainiack, they plunge into a thrilling plot filled with danger, action and exitement.

Summary: Four out of five stars earned!
Review: The White Mountains is a science fiction book by John Christopher. It is full of suspense. It is about three kids named Will, Henry, and Beanpole who make a long journey to escape the Tripods. These are machines which landed on Earth about a century ago, although it seems like it has been forever. Anyway, before the Tripods came, there were wars and terrible crimes, but the Tripods have come up with a way to control human minds. It seems like peace has been made, or is this just a setup for the Tripods to destroy Earth at once? This is abook with great suspense and a thrilling plot, I just don't think it has a great ending. That's okay, because it's only the first book of the TRIPOD TRILOGY!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: It could have been better
Review: The White Mountains is written by John Christopher. The story takes place in the future, all the things from the present are destroyed. In the book, Will and Henry travel from Wherton to the White Mountains. They go to the mountains because a man from the mountains tells them about the tripods, big white machanic robots. These robots put caps(metal plates) on humans when they are turning into a man or woman. The caps control them, so the tripods enslave the humans. The White Mountains is were people with no caps escape, and try to save others. They try to get to the White Mountains without being captured... This is a great story, because of all the details, but the ending is a little lame.
