Summary: anthony sucks!
Review: the book was great but only what was diffenitly lackey. she rocks. she has the best books. this would have been one of them if not for piers input. I still dont like who she (the main charater) ends up falling for. that part sucked! she is supposed to be a warrior not a pushover!I like the book but next time piers should go jump off a pier instead of messing up lackey!

Summary: Disappointing fare
Review: This 1994 collaboration came to me used, via a friend, which I read primarily because it was available when I needed a book in hand quickly (can't be caught without reading material, now can we?). Much as I like Mercedes Lackey, this is not a book I would have bought, due to the Piers Anthony influence. I found the characters superficial, with a cumbersome and contrived sexual situation, more typical of Anthony than Lackey. I have ceased reading Anthony over the years, feeling that he has been almost a caricature of himself and extremely formulaic. I was not too surprised to discover that Lackey developed an idea/outline of Anthony's, which he then edited and added 10,000 words. I suspect I know the pages he added: there's a lot of telling, not showing, of characters' thoughts and emotions. The world is not uninteresting, and might make an intriguing role-playing game, but that's not enough to carry the book. There's lots more good fantasy out there; pass this one by.

Summary: Fun read - a bit too didactic, but some good plot twists.
Review: This book by two well-known fantasy writers is a light, fun read. Anthony's moralistic touch (not to mention his puns) are evident throughout the book. At times, I found the book a little too didactic, but the plot twists were surprising and unexpected, especially the very last

Summary: New look at Love
Review: This book has an inciting mix of fantasy and reality. Like most of Anthony's books the setting in this book is magical and a fantasy. But don't be fooled by its background, for this books has incorporated in it a serious subjects, including love, loss, and the controversial theme of inter-racial relationships. This has many levels and its easy to appreciate all of them with Anthony's once-you-pick-it-up-you-can't-put-it-down style of writing

Summary: A fantasy adventure of a young heroine on a quest
Review: This book is an interesting fantasy adventure but a little bit slow going at times. The young heroine survives many perils including a quest to retrieve a magic shard. This is really like two novels. It takes the first half of the book to create a situation which launches her on the quest, most of the second half to cover the quest, and has a short, after-the-quest ending which can be pretty much anticipated. The authors seem to be a little casual of disposing of various groups of men in the tale, and women would probably like the book better than men.

Summary: A girl seeks her past and furure
Review: This book kept me on my toes. It, as usual, is a terrific book and I hope there will be more as a series. I seem to be one of the only Anthony fans at my school. (I'm in high school) I found myself in Xylina's shoes, having traveled in them countless times before. I get caught in the spells and wonder if something of the like happened here so long ago. I look forward to my next chance of reading a Piers Anthony book not already read by me. I am a read aholic and have read almost all possible books in the house. This was a treat to read and the next ( if there is one) should surpass all the past boundaries set by this terrific book. Happy reading!

Summary: An Enchanting Book, In More Ways Than One
Review: This book was a diamond in the rough. Recommended to me by a friend, I thought at first that it would be just another unoriginal Fantasy book. From the first page I knew that I was wrong. In this book a young woman's struggle to balance what she's been taught and what society has showed her becomes apperant. In this book women are magic, which makes them the warriors, bankers, etc., while the men are slaves or freedmen who have absolutely no rights. If any man touches a hair on a womans head, he could be executed or exiled. This young woman, Xylina, is an orphan who is too powerful for some people in high places to be comfortable. This book is a true gem for any Fantasy fan. 11 out of 10!!!

Summary: Two wonderful authors do it again.
Review: Two of my favorite authors have teamed up to do it again. Onceagain Anthony and Lackey write a book of fantastic worlds with astrong female lead that has a sense of morals. This sense of morals is what helps set the book ahead as the lead finds herself in a major problem with great sub plots. Don't miss the puns from Anthony, they help spice the book up.
