Summary: Momo
Review: I loved this book, it was my favorite one in High school. I would love to have it in my book collection!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Fantasy for children, wisdom for adults
Review: I read Momo as a kid, and loved it. But it was not until I was an adult that I got the message behind this beautiful fantasy story for kids. I was shocked at how the novel was an allegory of modern times, of the loss of values, of how the meaning and joy of life get lost if you let yourself be carried away by ambition and haste. Modern society argues this is the right way to make use of your time--but is it? A book about chosing what you do with the time you have in your heart, written beautifully. Also, the character of Momo is absolutely magical. Great for anyone, any time, any place. HOW CAN IT BE OUT OF PRINT????

Summary: I could never forget this book...
Review: I read this book when I was very young. I was twelve years old, and I was still back in my country. I remember this story and the impact it had on me, even as a young teen. I remember not being able to put it down. Not the first, second or even the third time I read it. Although I read this masterpiece in Spanish, it still carried the same message. A message about life and how important it is to make the most of it. A message about time, about how we often misuse it, applying it to things that are wasteful and don't have much meaning. It really shows how we can get wrapped up in society and its needs, forgetting what's really important. I loved the characters, the metaphores and analogies, the narrative, the set up. I remember reading chapters over just be able to absolutely comprehend what something meant. Although many think this book is for children, I disagree. Adults should be familiar with this story, for we are the ones that forget what's really essential. I am ready to purchase it and re-read it. Ready to get sucked in it all over again. Ready to cry my eyes out at the end one more time... It is an unforgettable experience... I read it more then 10 years ago... and never forgot...

Summary: One Momo in Time
Review: I read this incredible book within the space of about four hours, and cried when I was done because I could never again read it for the first time. English majors can become pretty jaded about what they read; still, a tiny orphan named Momo shook me up but good. Most people think of the seconds of their lives in the same way that they think of small change -- spend it wisely or foolishly; you'll always have more. Of course, this isn't true, and Ende points it out in an entertaining and refreshing story that will stay with you for a good while. Unfortunately, the people who need to read it most -- adults -- are the least likely to make the time. Stave off the Men in Grey! Read this book!

Summary: The best book in the world
Review: I still have my first and only edition of this book, that I read before "The Never Ending Story" became famous and was turned into a film, making Michael Ende a recognizable name.

I love reading stories about beautiful princesses, but Momo is a princess of a different kind.
She's on her own, homeless and destitute, without a family or means of her own. Her magical power is not that of a lovely face and a providential Godmother, but the fact that she remains a lovely, giving person, uncorrupted by her misfortune and possesses a supernatural ability to listen to others. Reading the book you understand just how and why such an apparently small thing can be so life changing, more so than any "action".

The book is ostensibly about how time is subjective, about how people "save time" by doing as little as possible the very things that make life worth living - in order to have more time to do them later on, when one has "more time" for that sort of thing - only to get there and realize that it's too late, life has passed you by, and you've got no more time left to enjoy them any further, or any one to enjoy them with.

But the reason I read it time and again was because of Momo and her two best friends, the old man and the young man, who are so completely different from each other; The turtle Cassandra, the forest of clocks, the one hour flowers...I can't stress enough how much you need to buy this book.

Summary: out of print?
Review: I'm so glad I still have my childhood copy, because this is one unforgettable story. It's unfortunate that it's not still in print. Momo is an unusually gifted child. Everyone around her seems to bloom to their full potential in her presence. The children and adults are most creative when near her, because of her ability to fully listen to them. That is, until the men in gray come along with their briefcases and cigars and begin stealing people's time, making them work harder and harder only to find that they have less and less time. This plot resonates with our fall from childhood into the corporate rat race. It teaches to keep in touch with our imagination, slow down, and be present and listen. A truly beautiful story, with an honorable heroine, and unforgettable characters like the gentle street sweeper who always takes it one step at a time.

Summary: Beyond Excelence
Review: If you do not read Momo, you are missing a life changing experience. This book is by far the best book I have ever read. My words can not explain what admiration I have for the author Michael Ende. I simply must tell you to read this book. Stop whatever you are reading and read Momo. You will not regret one moment of it! Good luck, and remember to make time for the ones you love! <3

Summary: Best fiction book ever written
Review: It's hard to write a short, pithy review of a book that's had such an impact on you when you were growing up, and still does. This was the first book that I remember buying, for myself, and reading, and it has affected me beyond words, and I hope it does the same to you.

A parable for our times...a timeless tale...I can't give anything else besides cliches to recommend this book. All that I can do, is recommend you read it, and let your children read it. It's well worth it.
