Summary: The future so dark you couldnt wear shades...
Review: A dark tale of unforgiving hatred between man and his creation, this story dives deep into the questions of not just who are we but what are we? And where do we come from? Deckard, a futuristic government hitman hired to kill manufactured humans struggles with a foreboading conscience asking himself who really decides which life is valuable and which is expendable?

And in the process finds he is the one, wether he likes it or not.

Summary: Great book...but...
Review: This book was great, and I had an enjoyable time reading it, but I felt that the plot was weak, just like the movie. A detective who goes around hunting for "replicants" just doesn't make much of a story anymore. I can almost guarantee that if a book such as this were released in the late 90's, it would certainly be passed, but as it is, this book was awesome. (The movie and game both put themselves in shame when compared with the book.)

Summary: The greatest Philip K. Dick, or any other, novel ever.
Review: Oh my Lord, how can a book be this terrific? How? I read this novel with another one awaiting my eyes after it, but I loved it so much that I read it a second time right after finishing it the first time around. The other book could wait! This is DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? and it is pure poetry, pure brilliance. Dick points out our strongest and weakest, and most misunderstood and abused nature. Empathy. Wow.

Summary: NOT SCOTT'S "BLADE RUNNER"
Review: There are glaring differences between the film, whose poster adorns the cover, and Dick's complex noir masterpiece. Dick's ability to join two seemingly unrelated genres, sci-fi and hard-boiled detective pulp writing, only reinforces his pure talent. Dick writes with the raw narrative of Hammett, the economic style of Hemingway, and the prophetic insight of Welles. Though it can be argued in this era, Dick's greatness will surely, and ironically, bleed over into the American Literary Canon of his, the 21st Century.

Summary: the science fiction at his best
Review: I think is not possible reading this book without having the suspicion of being an android. Thank you,Philip

Summary: Makes the movie better, but is not a great book
Review: I don't understand how so many people loved this book. The story is weak. There are some interesting ideas thrown around, but their development is just so-so. What I *did* like about the book, is that the background of the story gives you a lot of insights on the movie, which easily outclasses this book. So, the movie becomes much more enjoyable, but, if not for that, I'd have considered it a waste of time.

Summary: Intelligence and originality
Review: This is a fascinating and thought provoking science-fiction novel. The movie is also great, but the two are very different. In the book we take a closer look at synthetic life-forms and a pseudo-religion aired over the broadcast network of the future. A bit like televangelists? This philosophical bent we really don't get much of in the film. You also learn a little more about the androids' thoughts and their motivations. A great brain-stimulating page turner!

Summary: One of the best, most depressing, amazing books I've read...
Review: Usually, people first buy a book, read it, then watch the movie when it comes out, and finally, if a game comes out, they get the game. Well, I went backwards. First, I bought the computer game. Loved it, decided to watch the movie. Not bad! Finally, I decided to try the book, though it seemed a bit boring, but finally, when I started reading the book, I realized that it was the best book ever written (or at least to me it was), I like the way it's depressing, yet hopeful. Well, people might not agree with me, because I'm just a 14-year-old (and what do 14-year-olds know?), but I think that this is one of the best books ever!

Summary: The Pinnacle of Science Fiction
Review: I bought and read this book expecting your run of the mill sci-fi shoot-em-up. Boy, was I wrong. This is the best of Dick's books and the definition of the genre: science fiction noir. Dick's analysis of the human condition and our downward spiral into desensitization and dehumanization astounded me and urged me to read more. I have read it six times since, and plan to read it yet again.

Summary: One of the best books I have ever read
Review: This is one of the most deeply philosophical books ever written. It has gripping action and the characters are utterly captivating. Whether the character is a blade runner, a replicant, or a "normal" human, you are shown every inch of his soul. This is the most profound book I have ever read, even if it is utterly depressing.
