Carried there by the Resurreccion, a Spanish treasure galleon whose very existence is in dispute, the Horn of Merlin was lost along with the Resurreccion in Remolino de la Muerte, a peculiar whirlpool. Summary: Merlin Effect
Review: Do you like action, adventure, myths, and legends? If you do I highly recommend the Merlin Effect by T.A. Barron. It's about Kate, a young girl; Jim, Kate's father; Isabella, a marine biologist; and Terry, a geologist who studies volcanoes. They all went to San Lazaro to study. Jim is trying to find the Resurrecion. The Resurrecion is a ship that is said to be holding the Serilliant. The Serilliant is also know as the horn of Merlin. If you were to drink from the Serilliant you would have a form of eternal life. The only problem is that the ship was pulled into Remolino De La Muerte a lond time ago. The Remolino De La Muerte is a whirlpool. Their time and funds were running short and none of them had found what they were looking for. No hope was seen until Isabella and Jim were captured by the crafty Nimue, and Terry and Kate were pulled into Remolino De La Muerte. Inside the Remolino De La Muerte they found an old wooden ship with ragged sails "like layeres of translucent silk." It rested on it's side in the sand, torn and tattered. The masts were torn right off the ship. It was the Resurrecion! Bye the anchor there was a gorgeous, golden object. Not only had they uncovered the Resurrecion they had found Serilliant. That is when they meet an old man named Geoffrey who is part of the order of the horn. After that the trio go through incredible, outrageous advetures, and meet many unusual creatures. Can they get her father and Isabella in time their lives? Will they be able to beat Nimue to avenge the great and powerful Merlin and Merwas? I would give this novel 5 stars. It is jammed-packed with many unexpected twist and turns. The author had a captivating writing style. It is full of suspense, action, and adventure. On top of that it has the legend of the horn of Merlin written within these pages.

Summary: The Merlin Effect
Review: I read "The Merlin Effect" after finishing "The Lost Years of Merlin," which is also by T.A. Barron. I had high hopes for "Merlin Effect" since "Lost Years" was an excellent book, but it was a disappoinment. Barron doesn't put as much detail, and about half way through the book, the story becomes slow and almost annoying. Maybe if I didn't read "Merlin Effect" with such high expectations, it could have been a decent book.

Summary: The Merlin Effect
Review: I will start by saying that I am HUGE T.A. Barron fan. If there is anyone looking for an amazing fantasy story packed with adventure, T.A.Barron is the author for you. Even though this book starts out a bit slow, it progresses steadily until you can't put it down. This is the third book of his with Kate Gordon as the main character, and it is terrific. This time, her adventure takes place underwater, with an ancient monk, a legendary ship, a massive whirpool, songs of the whales, magic, and much more. READ THIS BOOK!

Summary: The Merlin Effect Review
Review: In the book there is this girl named Kate who has a dad that is obsessed with myths of Merlin. They are looking for the lost SERILLIANT to proove Merlin is real, but an evil sorceress wants SERRILLIANT too. Kate, her dad, the evil soceress, and Merlin all find ways to get the horn. Then they all get in a big battle for SERILLIANT. This book was good because it has magical things in it, and the book had an interesting plot. Some of the magical things are the ever-bubbling cauldrin of knowlege, the sword of light, SERILLIANT, and chess pieces that come to life. The cauldrin of knowlege gives a piece of knowlege for every drop of the liquid inside the cauldrin you touch. The sword of light can kill anything with one swipe. SERILLIANT is a sea shell with a rainbow liquid inside. Whoever drinks the liquid gets a certain type of eternal life. The chess pieces come to life, and are giants when they do. The plot was interesting because there are so many things happening. First someone falls off a boat, and then they're somewhere else. When two characters are fighting, when someone else is jumping around, and then someone else is sitting there watching in disbelief. This book is full of magical things and the plot is fascinating. So if you want to get hooked on a mystery/fantasy book you should buy THE MERLIN EFFECT.
