Rating: Summary: Wonderful book! (Of course, all her Wizard books are!) Review: I was so happy Diane Duane wrote another book in her Wizard series. If you haven't read any of them, start at the beginning with "So You Want to be a Wizard" - they aren't too serial in nature - you can enjoy this separately, but it's even better after getting to know the characters over the course of the previous 4 books. I like these books because they are funny and serious, happy and sad all at the same time - the characters have a whole range of emotions and as a result seem like real people. I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: Not the best, but Great Review: I'd say that this was one of the better of Diane Duane's fabulous books. Nita and Kit are growing up, and she illustrates it magnificently. This book talks about the tragedies of life (the whole problems you just can't solve bit). Nita's going through some pretty rough times and she's gotten into a little bit of a spat with Kit. They can't seem to get over their differences and he ends up not being there when she needs him most. Can you tell that there's some trouble brewing? The question is: will their partnership survive? Find out in this book.
Rating: Summary: return to form... Review: I'm a long-time follower of the Young Wizards series, having started on the books more than a decade ago. I was a bit disappointed in the comparatively recent "A Wizard Abroad" -- it didn't seem to live up to the drama and depth of "Deep Wizardry," the book that initially hooked me. After the Feline Wizards books, I (almost) sadly concluded that perhaps I'd simply outgrown Kit and Nita and co. How glad I am to be wrong. This book mingles the aspects of the first two that appealed to me most strongly: emotional depth and moral complexity packaged in a 'YA' novel that reads like the childhood I always wanted to live. There's no pandering or writing down to a young audience, and there's no pulling of punches in the bittersweet ending. I'm not even sure I *agree* with some bits of the rationale given by Nita's mother at the end, but the result feels inevitable and right. No tidy, unlikely happy endings here -- and yet I left the book satisfied. I only wish that installments came more often -- buy, buy, and maybe Diane will be able to live off of this series. Well, I can hope, can't I?
Rating: Summary: Another enjoyable installment in the Young Wizards series Review: In this book Duane shows frustration building between our heros, Nita and Kit, and the first gut-check for Dairine regarding her own power. Not as complex as the first three books, but still enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: The long awaited 5th book in the Series Review: It's a little while after we left off with Nita and Kit in A Wizard Abroad and they're a little older, a little wiser, and a little more in control. But after a fight they fear that they're divided forever. But after this fight they find themselves immeaditally pulled apart even more as they both embark on seperate journies. Nita has a lot to deal with when her mother gets sick with a cancer that could kill her. She tries to use her wizardry to help her but soon finds out that the only way to solve it might be to give up eveything she's worked for. Kit's busy too. One day when he's out walking his dog, Ponch, he finds himself in a whole new world, literaly. Can the two pull together in time to solve the problem? Or are they divided for good. I was nearly jumping out of my seat when I heard that their was going to be a 5th book in this series and now I pray Diane Duane will write a new one soon. She once again brings the charecters we all know and love alive once again. This book is one of the best ones in the series to date (next to Deep Wizardry). I reccomend this book to anyone whose a fan of the Young Wizards Series and I reccomend this series to fans of magic. I'll be sure to read this one again and again.
Rating: Summary: grrrreat Review: love it if you want a good book about wizardry this is it my mom likes it to its good for grown ups too i was in a like state where nothing could break me from it and i play like i am nita some times what she does with the lone power is incredible
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Review: Miss Duane has a singular muse. This book, like all the others in the series, stands by itself as an imaginative achievment. And when the book was finished, I was reluctant to put it down. So much happens in this book and some things are left unresolved as it becomes apparent that Miss Duane intends to continue the series. And I will happily buy each and every book as it comes out. Originally, I bought 'So You Want to Be a Wizard' as something to read while waiting for the next 'Harry Potter' book to come out. Now I find I'm reading 'Harry Potter' while I wait for the next Wizardry book to come out. And while the former is certainly enjoyable, I can connect with the Wizardry series on an intellectual level because Miss Duane has made it easy to see HOW wizardry can operate within the realm of reality. And she maintains this balance between fantasy and reality throughout each book. Ultimately, the spell that is cast is cast about the discerning reader, leaving them open to possibilities that they may otherwise have never imagined.

Rating: Summary: Another 5-star Addition to Duane's Wizardry Series Review: The fifth book in Duane's "So You Want to Be a Wizard" series continues the journey of Nita and Kit as Nita struggles to save her mother's life while Kit finds himself able to create new universes. The two partner's disagreements are thrown aside as the two learn that Nita's mother is slowly being destroyed by cancer cells that only the most complex magic can stop. Not only that, but a new friend is found to be inhabited by the Lone One. Nita finds that she must choose between her magic and her mother's life in a "dilema" harder than any challenge she has faced before.
