Summary: soooo cool
Review: I thought this retelling of Beauty and the Beast was really good because Beauty is far from a perfect, traditionally beautiful heroine. I also like this because you can see the character developing throughout the book. One of my favourites! I would recommend it to anyone who would rather get to know a character from a fairy tale, rather than the Disney versions, which just skim the surface.

Summary: A Beautiful Story
Review: Traditional fairy tales have always dissatisfied me because they never went into enough depth and you never were able to really know the characters. However, Robin McKinley takes the old story and turns it around so that you understand why the heroine did what she did. This book far outshines the Disney movie and all of the other versions that I have read. I would recommend this book for anyone over the age of 10, and for older readers, "Rose Daughter" Robin McKinley's other telling of "Beauty and the Beast"

Summary: A very enjoyable read
Review: In general, this book is really good. The writing style is beautiful, and the story itself is very sweet. Anyone who enjoys fairy tales and happy endings will certainly love this. I have to admit I was disappointed, though, when I finished the book without finding any twists by the author on the traditional telling of Beauty and the Beast. The main difference was in the main character, Beauty, who is a very human and lovable girl, instead of the flawless heroine that is often seen in the part. But other than that, the storyline differed very little from that of the fairy tale, so I could always tell what was going to happen next. Nevertheless, it was nice to see the short story stretched into a novel and given a lot more depth.

Summary: Excellent retelling of a classic fairy tale
Review: Robin McKinley's writing in Beauty is polished, evocative, and generally a model of prose. I only wish more fantasy writers could write so well. She creates a moving story from the bones of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale that is truly a pleasure to read. I first read this when I was twelve and I still re-read it once a year, fifteen years later. Highly recommended.

Summary: FIVE STARS, MUST READ
Review: Beauty is one of my favorite books! I think I've read it like 5 times! It is so great, much better than Rose Daughter, even though Rose Daughter was written 20 years after Beauty. Beauty is a story about a girl who has two older beautiful sisters. She is an honest, funny, smart girl who you immediately like. Don't get put off because the beginning is a little confusing, it gets clearer and much more involved and exciting. I recommend this book for anyone who loves magic, fantasy and romance. It's not at all like the fairy tale, so read it! I also recommend McKinley's Blue Sword and Levine's Ella Enchanted for anyone who liked this book. And it's for everyone, so read it even if you're older than 12! (I just said I was 12, I still love it and I'm almost 14)

Summary: Wonderful
Review: Robin McKinley's _Beauty_, written in first person from the viewpoint of Beauty, is a wonderful retelling of the traditional fairy tale. It focuses on the love and trust that gradually develop between Beauty and the Beast, with a subtle underlying magic. The book's heroine is intelligent and honorable, and the story deals with the traditional main theme of looking beneath the surface of a "beast" to find the underlying humanity and beauty.

Summary: YAY!!!
Review: I'm happy i found this book! it has easily moved to my 'favourites' section of my bookshelf. i really liked it; all the characters were believable and likeable. it basically follows the lines of the origional fairy tale, but is much better. i have a little friend who agrees with me too; i read it to a little girl i was babysitting, and she wouldn't let me put it down! it's is a great book, and you should definately read it! it also makes a good bedtime story (though it's sad and scary in parts). happy reading!

Summary: Absolute Perfection
Review: The best, without at doubt, adaptation of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. Beauty is no longer a two dimensional fairy-tale heroine. Beauty is intelligent, loves learning, and riding her horse. When her family's fortunes take a turn for the worse, she shows her strenght, taking on much of the hard work forced upon her family by their financial downfall. She isn't perfect; occasionally she complains, she can be stubborn and willful, but she is more real than Beauty has ever been.

The supporting character are created with as much loving care. No cardboard cutouts of selfish sisters or a bumbling father. Each character is drawn with meticulous care.

Buy this book, read it, read it to your kids, or your spouse, or even your grandmother. You won't regret it.
