Rating: Summary: Getting younger each day- good or bad? Review: I thought this was definitly a great book. Yeah, it was really hard to understand considering I read it in the 5th grade when it is a 6-9th grade level. It's a book you'll never forget and want to read over and over again.
Rating: Summary: Growing Down Review: This is an excellent book. I have read three other of Margaret Peterson Haddix's books including "Just Ella","Among the Hidden",and "Running Out of Time",this is her best book so far. Melly and Anny Beth were part of the experiment Turnabout that took place in the year 2000. It is now the year 2085 and they are in their teens. Ms. Haddix's views of the future sound accurate. I am curious to see if they come true 80 years from now.
Rating: Summary: TurnAbout Rewiew Review: I enjoyed TurnAbout very much. The plot was of these people who were aging backward from a science experient and a nosey repoter who is trying to track them down. I strongly recomend TurnAbout
Rating: Summary: Try it out... Review: This was an intresting book, if not a well written and exciting one. The story of these 2 women going through their lives again backwards in a new century was amusing, but not very exciting since most of the memories they had of past lifetimes were vanishing and it was all kinda depressing....i was also very disappointed with the ending. I do suggest reading it however becuz it is somewhat thought-prevoking.
Rating: Summary: Amusing Review: This book has an amazing amount of words. i think it is really bad and needs a different title. This book has a stupid meaning and should have never been published. I recomend this book to nobody. But other than that i think it was a good book. lalalalalalalalallalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalallalalalalalalalalalalaalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalaalalalalalalalalalalalalal
Rating: Summary: Turnabout Review: Turnabout By: Margaret Haddix Always make sure you know what you are signing because you may be signing your life away! In Turnabout by Margaret Peterson Haddix, residents at a home for the elderly could have used this advice when they signed a paper agreeing to participate in a new study. Upon signing up, they received an injection that would cause their internal clocks to tick backwards, making them grow younger instead of older. This story follows two girls and tells of the problems they face in society as they get younger and younger. The book starts off in the present, but jumps to eighty-five years later soon after. The two main characters are faced with many problems. How can you explain to your husband why you are getting younger when he is still getting older? The home for the elderly is able to track the two girls anyplace that they go by using the new advancements that they have with computers. But, there is another curve thrown into the road when the girls discover that there is a newspaper reporter searching for them. Fearing for their lives they cut themselves off from society and fend for themselves in the woods. This was a quick read that really kept me on my toes until the very last page. I normally don't enjoy science-fiction novels because they tend to be too futuristic and not realistic at all, but in Turnabout it was more like a realistic fiction with a small scientific element. I could not put this book down because on every page there was a new problem and more questions that needed to be resolved. My only regret about this book is that there is no definite ending. Even after I finished the last sentence, there was no real resolution. I was left hanging with tons of unanswered questions. But, maybe it is better that way because it was up to me to determine what happens and to make the book end in whatever way I chose. I didn't feel that this book was as strong as Margaret's first book, Among the Hidden. I would recommend this book to anyone. It is a little confusing in the beginning, but once I got into it things ironed themselves out. If you want to try a book with a topic that hasn't been done before, I highly recommend Turnabout!
Rating: Summary: A Freaky Story Review: I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading science fiction. Though may be confusing for younger kids. It was interesting and freaky to see what was happening in Amelia and Anny Beth's futuristic world. I also thought it was exciting to find out how the book ended. I wondered what decisions Melly and Anny Beth would have to make next, and how they would find purpose in their second life. It was a clever interesting and well written book.
Rating: Summary: Growing Younger Review: One injection and you begin to grow younger, year by year. What a great idea for a book! (It may, however, not be a topic of great interest to youngsters, but give it to anyone over 21 and it should find a huge audience.) The author thinks of everything including losing the memories you had when you were older, as you continue to grow younger. Can anyone stop this "unaging" process and what will happen when the protagonists are back to diapers? A fascinating idea, a very easy read and one that will surely make a great motion picture! A definite recommendation!
Rating: Summary: great book Review: Review for "Turnabout" "Turnabout" presents a modern problem and argument about the fountain of youth. It does not immediately grab your attention in the beginning but the rest of this great and interesting novel makes up for it. Anny Beth and Melly in the year 2000 were101 years old and waiting to die. One day two young doctors came in and told them to sign a document, without stating what it was for, or why they should do it. They later found out what it was for and that it would change their lives forever. To the somewhat boring beginning I was asking myself, "why did you pick such a dull book?" However, I persevered and kept reading, now I am glad I did. The rest of the book came a lot more easier than the beginning, and I was quickly swept off my feet by how interesting and eye-opening the book became. When Anny Beth and Melly are living together in 2085 at the age of 15 and 18, because of the wonder drug PT-1. They receive an e-mail asking about their' former lives. They immediately start to panic and even drive across the country to get away. At this point in the story it became exciting and I started to fear for them and with and I seemed to myself to become a part of the story. When they arrive in Kentucky and find Melly's great-great-great-granddaughter I was stunned, and I start to wonder about the reporter when they find out their genealogy. With the abrupt ending I was somewhat mad, and I was begging for more. It was a great book and I recommend it for all.
Rating: Summary: very exciting book!! Review: In this book two old ladies who live at a retirement home, agree to be in an experiment where they are given something that makes them turn a year younger on their birthday, instead of a year older. This book starts out when one of them is back at sixteen and the other is eighteen. They realize that they will need someone to take care of them soon becuase they will soon be too young. Throughout the book they have flashbacks of when they were old and took the injection that started their un-aging. They have been writing diaries since then and now they have boxes of them. They try to find one of their relatives who might be able to take care of them, and they have to keep travelling like they have been doing for years, in order to keep their secret. When they agreed to take the injection, they had no idea that they would soon need someone to help them, and no idea that they wouldnt be able to lead normal lives like they did when they first were in their teens. Now they are in trouble because people that they have lived around are becoming suspicious and they have to find a way to get out of this whole mess. To find out what happens to them, read the book! It is really good!!
