Rating: Summary: Wow Review: Turnabout is a future that might possibly soon come to be. An old lady, soon to pass, signs a contract for a strange top-secret project with her friend. She comes to find herself de-aging. This story centers around her life at 2-3 different times, when the progect 1st started, in her early to late 40's, and presently in her young teens. It was an exccelent read because it provided a strange amount of details, difficult to describe, because throughout the book you have a sence of mystery. Its amazing, deffinatly another hit for Margaret Peterson Haddix. The only thing that stopped me from giving it the full five is, even though it tells you when it switches time periods, its a little hard to follow. But besides that, I recommend it to most anyone.
Rating: Summary: Starting over Review: Wouldn't you love to start over with your life, to turn around, to begin anew? To grow younger and nicer-looking every day? This was the chance given to Ameila and Anny Beth, two old ladies in a nursing home. 50 old people signed papers saying that they would let scientists experiment on their bodies, hopefully reversing the aging process. And the scientists suceeded. They tell the people that when a certain age comes, say twenty, they will be able to stop all bodily changes with another injection, and the person will live forever unless murdered or caught by a disease. But when they actually try out this second injection, it kills a man. The people cannot stop unaging. Some leave the science agency where they lived for a time. This was the case of Anny Beth and Melly(Ameila). Now Anny Beth is 18 and Melly is 15, and they aren't going to be able to take care of themselves soon. They'll need a parent. But who can be trusted? They can't go back to the agency. And what will happen when they reach zero? I think this book was a great book, and the idea was imaginetive. This book is definately for Sci-fi people. The only thing that dissapoints me a bit is the ending, but it leaves the reader to imagine what happens. All in all, it is one of my many favorite books.
Rating: Summary: terrible Review: One word can describe this book. Terrible. After finishing it I realized that the only thing I got from it was becoming really, really confused. It is impossible to get anything out of it. It lacks an easy to understand plot making it completely and utterly perplexing. Also, unlike other books, the story causes thoughts about the real world rather than thoughts about the book. Ideas about how it's the same on both sides of the spectrum are things you have to seriously search for and read between the lines to figure out. The characters are shaky and the details are missing. With time gaps and missing information, the book is a terror in ink.Although the story was classified as Sci-Fi, the book still seemed to lack any farfetched ideas like time-travel or aliens that make Sci-Fi books so interesting to read. Satellite observation, a cure for cancer, or chromosome tampering does not really make you say, "Wow that's a thing we'll never see!" (Unless you're saying it sarcastically of course). So honestly, unless you're being forced to read it, don't even bother taking it off the shelf; A complete waste of time and money.
Rating: Summary: Turnabout-a wild ride Review: Amelia is a 185 year old in a 15 year old's body. How did this happen? Back in the year 2001 Amelia and 49 other nursing home residents were asked to participate in scientific breakthrough. This would take them back to the physical state of the average 20 year old. In other words, they would be given a shot that would allow them to unage to 20 or so and then be given a second shot that would stop them from aging, or unaging, any further. Unfortunatly problems occur with those who were given the second shot. They all die instantly. We meet up with Anne Beth and Amelia, who has changed her name to Melly, in the year 2085. They haven't taken a shot for fear they would get killed. Now they are faced with the problem of finding a gaurdian to take care of them. I enjoyed this book very thoroughly because it taught me a lot about, believe it or not, growing up. I think it was an excellent and informative read. Pick it up at your nearest library and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime.
Rating: Summary: Cool Book Review: I really enjoyed reading the book Turnabout. The idea of being able to age backwards is a really cool concept. This book is well written and exciting enough that you want to read it in one sitting. The book tells the story of Melly and Anny Beth. They were once 100 years old and on the verge of dying. But thanks to a special experiment, they aged backwards back down to 15, and 18 (their ages now). The book goes between the past, 85 years ago, and the present when Melly and Anny Beth are 15 and 18. When they think that a reporter has figured out who they are, and the agency responsible for their deaginh has turned against them, Melly and Anny Beth are forced to be on the run, a tough thing to do in a future when privacy does not exist. The only complaint I have about this book would have to be the ending. It does not really reveal much information about what will happen next. But then again, maybe thats what the author wanted. I would recommend this book to girls ages 12-15.
Rating: Summary: ok Review: I read this book for a book report. The cover caught my attention. I thought the book was ok. They should make a follow-up on Melly and Anny Beth. How their lives are with A.J. Then their lives should go down in history as a legend.
Rating: Summary: 14 year old reader Review: Turnabout was a great book. It was about this group of elderly people who are in this experiment to reverse aging. They have to start new lives and leave their old behind. Two woman, Melly and Anny Beth leave the agency and live normal lives (with the exception of running away from the truth). The project is supposed to be secret but someone knows too much. The girls eventually get into thier teens and they have to find someone to take care of them when they get younger. This person has to keep the secret. Read the book to find out what happens next. This is a REALLY good book. I read it in 2 days and couldn't put it down. I highly reccommend this book to people of all ages!

Rating: Summary: What Good Sci-Fi Should Aspire to Be Review: I am quite surprised that a young adult title could be so thought-provoking. It has all the elements of good science fiction- real people faced with a very timely and pressing problem, but set in a time and place where we the readers can view the protagonists as they attempt to find some sort of closure. The book simultaneously deals with the social problems associated with aging and the perils of the new, improved DNA-based biotechnology. It also presents the old plot device, immortality and the fountain of youth, with skill and originality. Also, I felt the juxtaposition of teen protagonists into such a complicated situation was an excellent touch. Although I liked both the characters and the premise, I especially liked the ending of the story. A book of this sort would make for a great made-for-TV movie that could be shown on some lazy mid-week afternoon. In sum, this was a fine effort, based on very real present-day science. I just wish the tale had been a bit longer.
Rating: Summary: STUPENDOUS! Review: This book was really great! It's about some very old people who take a medication and start to grow younger! It's very exciting, so I read the book very quickly. I would recommend all boks from this author--Margaret Peterson Haddix. She's great!
