Summary: The Worst Terry Brooks Book Ever!
Review: I thought that this book was terrible. The story line was so predictable. I knew what was going to happen all through the book. The characters were stick figures. They had no depth, color or interest. I have read five other Terry Brooks books and thought they were all pretty good. But I keep wanting to leave this book on a park bench. What a waste of reading time. The only reason I finished the book was because I was on an airplane with nothing else to read. Don't waste your time on this one.

Summary: A major disappointment !
Review: As a devoted fan of Terry Brooks, I was looking forward to reading his latest novel, in spite of the somewhat mixed reviews that it had been given. I was quite disappointed with the novel, and found myself skipping pages while only half way through. I finally gave up and skipped to the last chapter. No surprises there. Unlike all of his earlier works, this book dragged on, lacking the character development and fast moving pace of everything he has previously written. The ending was obvious from the half way mark, and the plot became tedious. In the mean time, I plan on re-reading all of his earlier novels, safe in the knowledge of how outstanding they all are. I hope he resumes writing in his original style, and do look forward to his next novel.

Summary: An incredible book......
Review: Running with the Demon is one of the best books I have ever read! From the moment I started it, I couldn't put it down. Now that I am finished, I am still running it's mysteries through my head. I want more, I came to love Nest, gran, Old Bob, Jhon Ross, and all of Nest's little friends. And I despised the Demon, wishing, throughout the whole book, that I could kill him myself.

I hope to see more books like this by Brooks, maybe even a sequel???

Summary: Another good read, but stick to Shanara
Review: I'm a devout follower of Brooks, having read all of his books while considering him the best of his kind since Tolkien. And this was a strong contemporary story that I devoured during a crosscountry flight. However, Terry, if you see this, stay with your Shanara format. I can read contemporary stories like this anywhere, but only you can follow Tolkien's enchanting stories.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good book; good writing, different from his other novels
Review: I have read most of Brooks' other books, and this compares well. This book is well-written and well thought out. I was a little skeptical at first, but after I got into it, it turned out to be good. I like how he got off of the fantasy and got into this real-time kind of literature.

Summary: Easy to read and follow, entertaining!
Review: I'm an avid sci-fi/fantasy reader. This book "Running With the Demon" hit the spot. It's the first book by Terry Brooks that I've read and am encouraged to read more of his past works. I can't believe that I waited this long to read his work. His character building is great, I had a real feel for Nest Freemark and Pick. It was easy to read and become involved with. Good book! Could there be a second book coming? Seems that Nest and Pick still have work to do.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Superb Mixed-World, Mixed-Genre Novel!
Review: Mr. Brooks blends dark fantasy (light horror, if you prefer...) elements in a (mostly) contemporary setting. This book really is a must-read, for the craftsmanship alone.

Of course, when you add the story, it becomes "un-put-down-able". Buy this book for yourself, then buy more for your friends for Christmas. Unfortunately, you will then have to sit back and await the sequel--at least you will have company...

Summary: Brooks makes every word count
Review: An 8 for several reasons: Nothing Brooks ever writes again will touch Sword of Shannara. The ending which should have been the best part of the book was rushed, lacking description, and some excitement. From his Del Rey interview, generally I agree with Brooks that this is his best writing. Running With The Demon was better than expected and I look forward to the next.

Summary: 10? Are you joking?
Review: You folks throw "10s" around like they were dimes. If Running with the Demon is a "10," then we need to add zero or two to the rating scale. It was OK, I guess. My "5" is generous, but then I'm in a good mood right now. The demon in the book is a nitwit. Stories are driven by their villains and this one's a loser. The knight is a whiney drip. Nest is fine, her friends are retards. I wanted to throw Pick in the microwave. Gran is pretty cool: at least her character develops. Grandpa's a stiff. Running With the Demon is nothing new. Buy it, if you must.

Summary: Terry Brooks...you got a love him!
Review: Not since J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings have I read such an intriguing book that grabs you and throws you into the world of Running with the Demon. With Terry Brooks latest novel he has captured the world of Good and Evil terrificly. This is one of those novels that you simply must read. If you want to enter a world full of surprises then this is the book for you! In Starlight, Illinois, you'll encounter unimaginable things. This is such a well written and well portrayed novel. It is rewarded with an easy 10, I didn't even have to think twice. I encourage you to buy this novel today...you will not be disappointed! And if you are, then you no not what true writing is.
