Summary: New, Exciting!
Review: I picked this book up entirely by accident. When I was done, I had to buy it. I love all of Patricia A. McKillip's books, but this one was different. She created a new and exciting plot, adding the different animals. The characters were well developed. This was an over-all great book. It had a satisfying ending. It kept me reading!

Summary: This Book is simply Phenominal
Review: The first and only time I read this book was about 24 years ago when I was in school, and the only reason I haven't read it since is because I haven't been able to find it anywhere until now, and I have been searching on and off for all these years.I wasn't very enthused about reading when in school but this book kept me mesmerized from the first page to the last. The writing was so inspirational that it actually allowed me to enter Sybels world. The book I originally read was a hardback and I hope to be able to find this book in that format but for now paperback will have to do.

Summary: Incredible, beautiful, haunting book
Review: Despite being pigeon-holed into the Young Adult or Children's category, this is not a book any fantasy lover should miss. It's haunting and unique. I read it as a teen-ager, and have read it several times since, and enjoyed it more each time. A beautiful, intricate, mysterious book.

Summary: Different. Very Different
Review: From the moment I picked this book up, I couldn't put it down. I stayed up reading it to a very late hour and, knowing I had much to do the next day and that I had to wake at an early hour, I reluctantly peeled my eyes away from the pages. The next day, every spare moment I had was spent on reading this beautiful book. I loved it. It is so full of suspense and adventure, love and wisdom. I believe that many people (adults too, for even though I am only twelve, I have read many adult books and have found them to be even less mature than this one)would find this book amazing.

Summary: A book that captures non readers and gets them hooked
Review: This book is the one I remember most fondly from my childhood and the one that I read over and over and over again. It is the book, though I know I read others, that meant the most to me at my fragile 11 years of age and hooked me on reading for good. I am delighted to say it did the same for my 11 year-old daughter who WAS a reluctant reader.

Summary: Delicious! I can still taste it!
Review: I read THE FORGOTTEN BEASTS OF ELD this past summer, and whenever I recall it, the general essence of the book, it's feel, comes back. It was truly astounding and thoroughly mesmerising; her descriptions and plot are wonderful. It's the kind of book that is surreal and dreamlike, not because of its setting, but because of the writing and the way she uses the English language. It will stay on my Bookshelf of Excellent Books, except for when I'm rereading it.

Summary: A human conflict in a fantasy world...
Review: ...with the power to chill you to the bone. Sybel is a complex protagonist that you do not always love but with whom you can usually empathize. A beautiful book that should be on anyones shelf.

Summary: Low-key fantasy has spellbinding power
Review: The Forgotten Beasts of Eld is a neglected classic of the fantasy genre. McKillip tells the story of Sybil and Coren in a setting which is beautifully realized without detracting from the developing relationships between the characters, which is what the novel is really all about. The Forgotten Beasts of Eld is refreshingy different in that the fate of the imagined world is not what is really at stake, but rather the personal realtionships of a sorceress, a nobleman and a lost prince. The Boar, Cyrin, is also one of the most memorable characters I have encountered in twenty years of reading fantasy fiction.

Summary: One of the BEST!!!!
Review: One of my very favorites! I've read this many times over the past few years, I find the story finely crafted and I share it with everyone I can. Two thumbs up!
