Summary: Excellent
Review: This book is great! It was the first book I had ever read by Anne McCaffrey and so far it's my favorite. I really like how Menolly goes from a timid little thing to really fitting in at the Harper Hall. I also like the firelizards, a big change from the usual dragons in the Pern series. Also if you love Robinton, like me, you'll like this book. (He's on almost every other page.)

To sum it all up, this novel's about a music prodigy who is taken to the Harper Hall, with her nine firelizards, where everyone loves her music, which is a big change for her. She makes amusing friends and a few enemies just trying to get through her first week.

I strongly recommend this book for anyone who loves the Pern series or just likes a good story to read on a rainy day.

Summary: Beautiful, Magical, Wonderful
Review: _Dragonsinger_ is the second book of Anne McCaffrey's Harper Hall trilogy, and easily the best of the three. We are taken along for the ride on the adventures of Menolly, formerly of Half-Circle Sea Hold, as she attempts to fit in at Harper Hall despite her gender and despite the nine fire-lizards that are her 'embarrassment of riches.'

Something worth keeping in mind when you're reading this book is that, unlike most of the Pern novels, it's geared more towards a younger audience. When you stop trying to compare it to strictly adult novels, a lot of the perceived flaws disappear. Yes, there are elements of wish-fulfillment fantasy in it--but it is tastefully handled, and even when the protagonist comes out on top (as you know she must), her triumphs are not unbelievable. She will never cradle the whole world in her hands; she may never make her estranged parents accept her... but she can win the success she deserves.

Apart from the charming plot, there are other points by which this book earns its laurels: the theme of music is wonderfully, powerfully done, and can readily appeal even to those who are not themselves musicians. The world of Pern is drawn in vivid and enchanting colors for the reader. As for the fire-lizards... yes, Menolly has so many that it is difficult to keep track of them; yes, the book probably would have been just as good if she'd had a few less. But who can resist these small, beautiful, dragon-like creatures, with their jeweled eyes and affectionate thoughts? I couldn't--as an adolescent, I dreamed of a fire-lizard of my own, before graduating to dreaming of dragons after I first read _Dragonflight_. The characters are marvelously drawn, fully sympathetic, and colorful; I never tire of them, and I am sure that I never will.

_Dragonsinger_, though best read after _Dragonsong_, would be a lovely introduction to Anne McCaffrey's world of Pern. Even read as a stand-alone, it is an amazing, inspiring book, perfect for a young dreamer or an older one. I would highly recommend it for children or young adults in particular, but it is well-worth reading regardless of one's age.

Summary: Wonderful...
Review: This is such a good book, I read it four times in a row. I sing and play the flute and piano etc. and so Menolly is really my sort of person. This series is the only one I know (that is good) thst is based on music. That is why it makes such an impression on me. This book inspired me to learn to play the guitar, and that is pretty impressive. If you love music, read Anne McCaffreys Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, and Dragondrums. And The Masterharper of Pern. They are all beautiful!

Summary: Wow!
Review: This was my favorite of the Pern books because it's a little different from the others, having to do more with fire lizards than dragons. You instantly like Menolly, and I appreciate her for overcoming all of her hardships to be respected in Harper Hall. I would reccomend this book to anyone interested in the Pern series.

Summary: A 'Must-Read' for any Music-lover!
Review: This book kicked Pride and Prejudice off my list of five favorite books...which, as anyone who has read it knows, is saying a whole lot. I have to admit, I came almost as close as ever to falling in love with a character from a book. Menolly has the best-devloped character of anyone I have ever read about, excepting perhaps McKinley's Beauty and Lloyd Alexander's Vesper Holly. Every character in this book, even those who only appear a few times, have vivid and realistic personalities. This book also contains one of the most vivid scenes I have ever read. The musical theme makes this a must-have for any music lover.

Summary: Best book ever
Review: I would nominate this book for five stars because it has a mix of adventure and mystical beings to compose a delightful book. This is an excellent for both 5th and 6th graders. This is a book I couldn't put down until I finished it.

Summary: No better Fantasy
Review: I discovered this book in elementary school. Since then I have read it more times than any two other books combined. The Harper Hall trilogy is incredible and this book is the best of the three. It still amazes me how I lose myself in reading this book. The characters and situations are so real that re-reading it is like reading it again for the first time. I would and have recommended this book to anyone interested in reading.

Summary: The Dragon song series
Review: Ok, the Book Dragon singer was awesome. In the distant future, humans travel to a distant planet, that is like Earth. Here, to combat thread(an organism that eats any thing organic spontaneously)they develop an animal, Dragons. This book takes place several centurys after landing on the Planet, Pern. Menolly, the main character, has nine small dragons, that are her pets. she has a wonderfull talent in singing and playing music. this book is about her adventures in the craft hall of music. She has to work with mostly boys, and the girls that are at the craft hall, are jelous of her talents. She finds friends, and has some rather strange adventures. I strongly recomend you to read DRAGONS DAWN first, just because you get more of a feel for the senerio. I love the setting, and the way the author portrays the characters. The climax is also very awesome and belivable. and it's not boring, either. especially the way the charachters have all the qualities a real person has, fear, uncertainty, happiness, and etc. It's a great book, but a little bit slow paced. That, however, is not bad.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: I liked this book a little bit more than Dragonsong. I like learning about what they did in a Craft Hall. The book was a little too long but it is definately worth the money! It's about Menolly, the daughter of Sea Holder, Yanus who loves to wwrite songs but is punished when she does, so she runs away and then is rescued after runngin thread and is taken to Benden Weyr and then to the Harper Craft Hall. Menolly didn't know that there are other girls training to be harpers. This book is very good!
