Rating: Summary: Lifetime Favorite Review: This was one of my all time favorite novels when I was a kid, and it definitely remains at the top of my list. I highly recommend it, especially to those that appreciate rags to riches, underdog stories... All the Pern books are just fabulous, and while I could go on for pages, extolling the virtues of Dragonsong and its companion books, Dragonsinger and Dragondrums, I'll stop here and just say READ 'EM! If you got hooked by Harry Potter, Dragonsong is right up your alley!
Rating: Summary: Great Find Review: I love this book and recomend that you read the others. The way Anne discibes the fire lizards makes me want them for my very own. Like I said this a great find and if you already own it lucky you.
Rating: Summary: best series of dragons Review: This is the best book about dragons.if you like dragons you will LOVE this book.I love dragon books now. This was the first I read. After the Harry Potter books, This is my favorite book. You must read it. It is to good to say no.
Rating: Summary: Oh wow (wait, read this!) Review: For those who think girls don't get enough credit, read this! This girl, who not many appreciate, becomes very important indeed! She finds the legendary FIRE LIZARDS. She is so lucky, she gets to go live in the Harper Hall! Now, the good thing about this book, is it has things that are funny! And it's about Dragon riders too! I loved the details in the story, and you will too! The only thing I didn't like (which won't count for many), was when Menolly (the girl we're talking about) get a really icky cut.... but I've said too much!
Rating: Summary: Dragonsong Rules! Review: This first volume of the Harper Hall Trilogy focuses on legendary fire lizards. Rukbat, a golden star in a far off universe, housed the habitable planet Pern. The story unfolds on Pern quickly. People and farm crops are being destroyed by spores from another planet. Menolly, a young farm girl sets out to both fit in and find individualism amongst her new found friends, the sailors. As the story unfolds we are privileged to her private thoughts as well as those of her counterparts. She becomes the center of attention, intrigue, and marvel when she sets out on an adventure whereby she is kidnapped and subsequently escapes. Her visions of the famed fire lizards, something every sailor has heard about but has yet to see, makes her unique among her peers thus giving her the undying adoration she so desires. Children of all ages, especially those in high school, will love this book for its intrigue and rapidly developing plot. The difficult names and syntax add an extra challenge for young adult readers.
Rating: Summary: Not confusing at all! Review: The students from California who make up a large portion of the reviews claim this book is confusing. To tell the truth, I have never found this particular Pern book confusing. The plot to me is fairly straightforward, but that is only my opinion, a am a fantasy fan and do a lot of that kinmd of reding, maybe my brain is attuned to this predictable happy-ending style! To those students: they were lucky to read such a popular book. I haven't progressed past Brian's winter and Ella Enchanted, both really are good books but not as good as DragonSong.
Rating: Summary: Bre's Review: I've said it before and I'll say it again, there's nothing like a good fantasy book, and Dragonsong was good. Very good. Menolly is so well realised, her story is beautifully expressed. The plot is enthralling, I could barely put it down. It is imaginative, magical and truly awe-inspiring. Read it.
Rating: Summary: DragonSong Review: I loved this book! It was the very first Anne McCaffrey book I have read and now this book is one of my favorite.I would recomend this book to anyone
Rating: Summary: I loved it Review: This book is a very thrilling. Its only good to people who like fic-fan. My favorite part is the ending when Menolly goes to the Harper Hall.
Rating: Summary: Dragonsong Review: Must admit, I heartily DISAGREE with the "the anonymous_12" person. For one thing, if he/she is going to write a review of a book, please, learn to spell. The book was NOT boring. I guess Anon_12 has never NOT been allowed to do something that was in intregal part of his/her being, and just how far someone will go to be able to just BE, as Menolly did.. Oh well. "With age comes wisdom" might apply to that harsh review of Anon_12.
