Rating: 5 stars
Summary: this book is one of my faves
Review: I read this book after I read the second of the series dragonsinger hoping for it to answer my questions alas a flaw but still as I am with all of her books from this to crystal singer to the ship who sang I was entranced 5 stars to the memory of Anne McCaffrey.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Unbelievably incredible!
Review: I think that the plot behind "Dragonsong" is fascinating. It combines mythical creatures in a myhical yet believable setting and plot. With time travel, it also adds a little kick for future. It was a great book!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Beloved for Fantasy Youth who Sings
Review: I've been reading this book again and again since 10 yrs ago, and will flip it periodically. Most unique is the prologue of each chapter. I still wonder if the lyrics do have a chord (hoping to hear them if yes). The harper girl ran again & again (did run on her own feet) into, mischief & new friends & life. Most touched by her encounter with the 9 fire lizards. At times when you're lonely, you may want to become like her.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A promising story, with certain problems
Review: The story line had promise, one of the best I had ever read. But, the story had very annoying flaws. One was the fact that the book was too short and went too few places. Second was the fact that the Fire Lizards did nothing. Other then these, the book was an excellent fantasy piece.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A great story of overcoming the odds!
Review: This book follows young Menolly as she tries to overcome her parents, who don't understand her love for music, an injury which keeps her from her music, and her first unprotected fall, which leads her to her dreams. I loved it!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book is really great, one of the best I've read.
Review: This book is about a girl who loves music but is not allowed to play because she is a girl. It is an absolutely wonderful book! I could not but it down. Dragonsinger and Dragondrums come after this. They are all a must read!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Behold a world where Dragons abound.
Review: Ann McCaffrey has a way of writing so her world intrudes into ours. I swear, when traveling I see dragons sweeping the mountain passes, and hear the fire lizards chattering.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the best Sci-fi books I have ever read
Review: It will show you the most graphic encounter of the mighty dragons and the deadly spores but this book will also show you one girls struggle to find a way to have and use her abilities to make music and her kindness toward the fire lizards. This book made me want to read the whole triology to be back to pern and expierence the likenesses of the planet and ours. This book is one that I will recommend to readers that love sci-fi books. Anne McCaffrey is a genius as to her extensive description of the world of pern and all that surrounds it she has added so much detail that it makes you feel like you are in the world of pern an that you will be helping the dragonriders. This story tells of truimph and hard work to achieve your dream and has a hidden moral if you love something don't ever let it go because if you stay with it, it will help you in many ways more than you think. Menolly has taught me to love the things that I like to do and if I really work hard to get them I will receive for my efforts and my sacrafces will bring fortune. So if you do have a chance to read it I hope you will have the same feelings I did about the book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It gives me an "I'm there" feeling
Review: This is the beginning story of a great trilogy!! I think that it's a great story of a girl who wishes she could be something she can't, and then in the end making her wish come true. Another fine work by Anne McCaffrey!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The beginning of the best trilogy I have ever read!
Review: I loved this book! It was the second Anne McCaffrey book that I had rread, and it was wonderful. Menolly is such a dynamic character, and the book is well worth the time it takes to read to meet her. A warning though...once you start this series, you will have to finish it to the very end!
