Rating: Summary: Pretty well written! Review: First of all, Terry Brooks is a magnificent writer! I enjoyed this book greatly! Although to like this book, you have to like his style of writing, which he has established in his previous books! (Sword of Shannara, is my third all time favorite book, although I was disappointed in the Elfstones)A few things that I didn't really like was the beggining, just before they set out on the quest and Leah, is discouraging them: This is too much like the other books, and I thought it boring, and pointless, since I knew they would end up going anyways! I am really happy to see a relative of Panamon Creel back in the story! Oh, I must point out that this novel has a very fascinating and captivating ending!
Rating: Summary: This series was Brooks' best work Review: Terry Brooks has come a long way from that first rip-off to be one of my favorite sci fi writers. To everyone who thought that "Sword of Shannara" was a poor copy of LotR (greatest novel ever written), don't let that stop you from reading this series. The characters are much better, the plot more developed, and the meaning deeper, even if the end fell a little short of my expectations. The Druid of Shannara was excellent. And for those who think this is just for kids, I am a very well read college English major, and I found these books very enjoyable. Great job, Mr. Brooks, I can't wait to see where it goes from here.
Rating: Summary: This was a really GOOD book! Review: This was a great way to start out the new series of Shannara books, I really enjoyed it. You get to see how the world of Shannara is 300 years after the death of the last of the druids, Allanon. You also get to see all the decendants of Shea. There is also the return of Cogline, yes the crazy old man is still alive, and also the return of Allanon, even if it is his shade. This is a great book and a must read for any true Shannara fan.
Rating: Summary: Simply The Best!!!!! Review: Not the best novel written by Brooks but cannot be ranked less than a five, starts the Heritage Series off and grabs you to read all concluding books.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good. Review: I've read all 4 books in this new Shannara story, 'The Heritage of Shannara', and am glad that I did. I enjoyed it. But how does it compare to the previous 3 stories? Not quite as good. In Sword, Elfstones and Wishsong, I felt levels of awe and excitement that were not even approached here. And many of the characters here seemed like second-rate incarnations of people I grew to love in the previous books. All in all though, it's a good read. Lots of interesting things happen, and it's fun to see the four lands again, even though Allanon is dead (boo hoo).
Rating: Summary: Exciting...yet iritating. Review: This is a great book but I would rather know more facts about Wren, Walker, and Morgan than I would have about Coll and Par. The begining starts with Cogline, his character bothers me at the begining also, but he becomes a different person at the end. And Walker is a non-believer, but soon realizes what needs to be done whether he likes it or not. Par jumped straight to the challenge and didn't realize the consequences, and Coll wanted nothing to do with the visions, it just didn't blend well. Wren rejected everything about her past she didn't want to believe, but soon realized the truth and wanted to know more. Other than those parts this is a really great book.
Rating: Summary: Good introduction to a so-so series Review: Terry Brooks' writing style is compelling. You don't want to put the book down. You'll love books 1 - 3 of this series, but be warned: Book 4 falls far short of the rest. The first three books will almost read themselves, but Book 4 moves much too quickly. Everything concludes much too abruptly. My advise: get this series at the library. Its not quite good enough to buy.
Rating: Summary: Terry Brooks took a dive Review: The first three Shannara books have a wealth of description and style. They introduced me to a Tolkien-like (some say too Tolkien-like) Epic on grand proportions. Perhaps too child-like, but I'm not so cynical yet. This book however (and the books following) just failed to live up to it. Maybe I had grown up too much by the time I read this book, but this series was a huge disappointment, after three stunning books. The world of the Ohmsfords is losing its magic, this book and series already did.
Rating: Summary: I think that Terry Brooks knows how to appeal to his readers Review: This book was so exciting that I could not put it down!! I think that everyone who is a fan of fantasy books should read this series. Mr. Brooks deals more with each persons inner most thoughts in his characters. Then when a situation arises we can guess or be surprised of what he has the character do!! GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Please read before you start this series Review: If I had just read this book I would've given it another star; it truely did suck me in. But be warned; the fourth book in the series falls totally flat after three exciting books. You will be let down.
