Rating: Summary: Straight from the heart... Review: I love fantasy. I read books by J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Lloyd Alexander, and all of the great ones. This book is right up there with them. The subject is interesting; I love reading about Merlin. And no one has ever written about his youth before. I enjoyed the plot and context. When I first got it form the library, the only reason was because it said "Merlin" on it. I stayed up until 4 am reading! I couldn't put it down! I couldn't wait for the next one to be returned to the library. Now I look for them every time I go. Never have I seen all of them there at once. I think T. A. Barron has created a masterpiece of fantasy literature for our day. I wait eagerly for the next ones to come out. This is certainly a book to have in your personal library!
Rating: Summary: A great book for all ages. Review: I own the book and I love it. I would recommend this book to anyone
Rating: Summary: Definately one of the best stories of all time! Review: T. A. Barron brings to life the tale of a young boy on his journey to man hood that will make him the best wizard of all time.
Rating: Summary: A great book for the "older" kids, too! Review: What a terrific book! I strolled into the public library to get *The Chronicles of Narnia* to read to my kids - it was out, so I sifted through the other fantasy titles. Being intrigued by Merlin my whole life, I picked up "The Lost Years Of Merlin" - and haven't put it down yet! I'll read it to my kids - eventually! I LOVE IT! Let me recommend this to all of you adults out there... as well as the young adults. A great read, especially if you are tired of all the "techno-fantasy" that's floating around. A terrific tale.
Rating: Summary: Hurray Merlin! Review: I love to read books, but the Merlin books I found as something else. I'm only thirteen, but I have to say, this triolgy is (on my scale) right up there next to the Chronicals of Narnia, and The Hobbit series. Way to go, Mr. Barron, for producing a series that's imaginative and creative!
Rating: Summary: One of the best Review: I was in a hurry and just grabbed this book off the library shelf, assuming that I would hate it. WRONG!! Little did I know that it would become one of my most favorite books. After I read it, I wanted more. So I ran to to the library to read the next book in the series, assuming that it wouldn't be as good as the first one. Well, what can I say? WRONG!! You get my point. If you like fantasy and adventure, this is the book for you. Definately a good read.
Rating: Summary: enchanting but not original Review: This book was great. The one major flaw was that much of the plot(the treasures, rusted plains, ect) copied The Books of Prydian by Lloyd Alexander.Even so Fincayra was enchanting and captivating.
Rating: Summary: Enchanting!! Review: I couldn't put this book down! It was filled with everythinganyone could expect from a fantasy book. Interesting people, extremedetail, and unpredictable. I can't wait until I read the next book. If you like fantasy books, read this.
Rating: Summary: None-stop reader! Review: I couldn't stop reading it. I read it for two days straight, unaware of what was going on around me. The description was great, I felt as if I was Merlin. This book made me want to read more about Merlin. Barron had out-done himself when he wrote this book. In other words, bravo Barron!
Rating: Summary: No Originality, Baron has let us down. Review: The lost years of merlin, TA Baron's first book in the lost years of merlin series, shows no originality or imagination. All ideas were taken from other sources, except the magical land of Fincayra. it shows a startly similarity to the books of Lyod Alexander, more presiscely his Pyridian chronicles. The entire plot was taken from another series of books. I reccomend you read the pyridian chronicles and see for your self.
