Summary: Another wonderful McKinley novel
Review: An exciting, involving adventure, set in a richly textured country and culture. All the characters, even the very minor ones, are well-drawn and distinct. While Harry's training and adventures are the backbone of the story, the basic conflict has more to do with culture clashes than with battling demons. Harry's struggle to reconcile the two sides of her heritage is one that many people can identify with. The romance that develops between the equally strong-willed Harry and Corlath is believably conflicted, yet beautifully romantic.

Summary: This is the best book I have ever read - and I read a lot
Review: I read the tale of Harry Crewe, who becomes Harimad-sol, for the first time when I was 12, entering 7th grade. Since then, I have read it at least once a year - so often that none of the pages are attached to each other. While I found the first three chapters a little slow, I was soon enwrapped by the actons and emotions displayed by Harry, Corlath, and Mathin. Since I first read The Bule Sword, I have raided the Science Fiction/Fantasy sections of all the book stores in the city of Atlanta, trying to find an equal. To this day, I haven't succeeded. If you're debating whether to but this book or not, I high recommend it to anyone and everyone, of all ages. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.

Summary: The Blue Sword is one of my all-time favorites!
Review: Ever since I first found this book, I've been reading it over and over! I love the real-life emotions, romance, and action that made this superb. Harry Crewe reminds me of myself and how I would feel in her situations.

Summary: ~Beyond amazing~
Review: It's been so long since I last found a treasure like this one. It's about time I had the privilege of reading a good, clean fun adventure, with the perfect romance hidden in the incredible wording. I couldn't put it down, either. This is a book that I will buy and read again and again, and I will honor it in my slow-growing list of favoritest books.

Summary: sensational...breath taking...
Review: I have read this book at least seven times; that and the Newberry Award so blatantly displayed on its cover speak for themselves.

I must confess myself curious of why McKinley hasn't published another book. Maybe her controversial "Deerskin" is the last...

Summary: All Ages, All Genres
Review: I received The Blue Sword as a gift, to my utter dismay, when I was fourteen. I had never enjoyed fiction. Unfortunately, my aunt didn't know that. I hesitantly read the first three chapters -- and found I couldn't put it down. The storyline ropes in everyone, even older readers, even those who dislike fiction or fantasy. You will find yourself swept up into this rich, gripping world which McKinley has sown so tenderly, and be glad for it. The cover of my copy fell off years ago, from loving wear.

Summary: A wonderful book full of imagination
Review: This is one of my favorite books. Robin McKinley creates an amazing world that you can imerse yourself in with strong heroines who have to work hard to achieve their goals. She is the best.

Summary: Absolutely amazing- you MUST read it
Review: I'm 12 years old and I have read this book about four times and find that each time new details sort of popped up. It is a real page-turner, because the story is told in a fresh way with lots of unpredictable things happening. The atmosphere of magic and the vivid descriptions of the landscape really bring it to life to the point where you can say "I know this place". I recommend reading The Hero and the Crown before starting this book, but I doubt you'll think twice to read its sequel. Buy this book and enjoy!

Summary: A Keeper.
Review: I've owned my copy since it first came out in paperback. I am in my early 40's and still enjoy rereading this book and the sequel, "The Hero and the Crown." I never skip a page, which I am inclined to do when I reach boring parts in a frequently reread book. Harry is a heroine who doesn't waste time bemoaning her fate, but makes the best of things she doesn't understand. Damaria is a land I wish I could visit. Need a new copy desparately.

Summary: A little boring, but there are a few juicy facts.
Review: At the beginning of this book, I almost gave up reading it altogether! It was suck a bore. But as I got deeper into the story it became very interesting. If you have little patitence, STAY AWAY from this book! The Blue Sword is the sort of book that gradually brings you into it.It throws more curve balls than you can predict. Before you consider reading this book, read The Hero and The Crown, which is the "lead on" to The Blue Sword. Saddly I made the mistake of reading The Blue Sword first, and didn't get the sturdy backround of the story to enjoy it as well.
