Summary: A futuristic Gulliver's Travels
Review: Tendai and siblings learn about the positive and negative aspects of various groups (e.g., traditional village, toxic garbage dump residents) as they embark on a journey that parallels that of Gulliver. Insightful critique of these various groups; even the toxic residents have good qualities. A really interesting read.

Summary: Suspence, suspicion--super!
Review: The Matsika children of 2194 have rarely been out of the house; their father is convinced the moment they do they will be kidnapped. Tendai, Rita, and Kuda jump at the chance to get out, so they are delighted when the Mellower, sort of like a nanny to them, charms General Matsika into letting the children travel across Harare by bus. Thousands of people take the public bus everyday so what harm could they come to? However, just by accident, they find their father was right, and they are kidnapped almost immediately. Over the next few months they are slaves in a plastic mine, get in and out af a comuntiy that still puts people to death for being a witch, and are held for ransom by a ransomer who hasn't the guts to ask for the money, only to end up at the mercy of their originial kidnappers, while the Ear, the Eye, and the Arm, the only detectives in Harare, remain just behind. It all comes to a head when Tendai is sold as a sacrificial beast to the last gang, the Masks. Even as the sacrificial knife is sharpened, Tendai remembers the countless hundreds who have been lost to the Masks. Can the She Ellephant, the kidnapper and only person with power, destroy the most lethal weapon of the Masks? The one hope, Arm, is dead, so Tendai can only hope. This book tells a tale of greed and giving, life and death. I would highly recomend it to any one who wishes for an adventure.

Summary: I was mentally-inhanced by this book. Its delightful to read.
Review: I am 13 years old and in 7th grade. I loved this book. I have read many books and this one ranks up there with some of the best.I read this book as a book report for school and was just flipping around the shelves and I couldn't find anything that looked interesting then when I saw the name of the book I remember my freinds saying they had read that book and also said it was cool. The cover of those guys looked cool(I read the hardback edition). It was very creative and imaginitive. The Eye the Ear and the Arm are the best characters that I have ever read about. They have the most amazing and surprizing abilitys. I recommend this book to everyone who likes reading. I was mentally inhanced (and I felt my brain growing) by this book and I am sure you will be too.

Summary: Favorite Book ever read
Review: This is an unbelievably good book. It's my favorite of all books. I've read it twice and my dad is currently reading it. It's easy to read and enjoyable to kids, yet just as enjoyable for adults. It's hard to put down but the last few chapters are impossible to stop reading. So many creative and imaginanable characters and places. Characters like Ear, Eye, Arm, Tendai, Rita, Kuda, the Mellower, General Matsika, the blue monkey, She Elephant, Knife, Fist, Granny, Mr. Thirsty, Trashman, the Masks, Mrs. Horsepool-Worthingham, and Sekai. Places like Dead Man's Vlei, Resthaven, the Mile-High MacIllwaine, and Cow's Guts. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good adventure.

Summary: The Ear, The Eye and The Arm
Review: The Ear, The Eye and The Arm is a cool adventure novel. General Matsika (a head policeman) never lets his children explore for fear they would get kidnapped. The children got bored of just staying on their own property and wanted adventure. So, on that day, in the year 2194, they leave the mansion on a forbidden expedition. They get kidnapped and travel to many different places, Resthaven, Dead Man's Vlei, the subway and many other places. This is a must read book!

Summary: Ear, Eye, and Arm go high tech.
Review: An excellent book. I am using this book as a Grade 6 novel study. The best part about the book is that the educational experience that the three children in the book have, is the same as the students that are going to be reading it. We are a "virtual school" where students are choosing to home-school and do all their work on-line. They have access to their teacher via e-mail and through the lessons they access on-line. The book is just full of images, situations, historical facts and current scenarios that can be tied to children's personal experiences. Many of the topics touched upon in the book can also be expanded upon through the use of the internet and image banks. I am excited with the potential this book presents and know that it will enrich many children's lives. MK

Summary: I am a Zimbabwean!
Review: I was born and grew up in Zimbabwe. I could not put down this delightful book with its wonderfully imaginative view of that country in the future. At the same time I found the background authentic. Nancy Farmer really knows and understands the people of Zimbabwe. Her describtion of traditional life there is vivid and sympathetic. For many years I taught young people who came from backgrounds depicted in her describtion of Resthaven

Summary: I loved this book!!
Review: I am currently enrolled in an adolescent literature class. This book was suggested to me by my local librarian. I did not know what to expect, because she only told me that she enjoyed reading it. I was not able to put it down. The storyline was different but it was a good read and I think most adults who reads it will enjoy it, as well as the youth. Tendai, Ruth and Kuda were positive, brave and smart. I loved Trashman and the Mellower. THe detectives sounded like something out of Star Wars or Star Trek. I could picture each of them vividly in my mind. I would love to have visited Resthaven. It sounds so natural and real. I especially enjoyed the glossary and the appendix. I spent a lot of time flipping back to get the meaning of a word or find out more about the area, etc. I will definately look forward to reading more of Ms. Farmers work and findong out more about her.

Summary: A very Good Book that keeps you up all night to read it!
Review: This book keeps you hanging on the edge while you read it. I recommend it to all readers
