Rating: Summary: It was just a great book and it made you keep reading Review: It was just a great book and it made you keep reading and it was action packet to the gills.
Rating: Summary: Top notch adventure, plus African history Review: What a great adventure story. It also informs readers about some aspects of the culture and history of one area of Africa. The author makes very good use of suspense to keep the reader going. I've read this to two fourth grade classes, and they couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen to the three children next. The final part of the book may be a little too suspenseful or frightening for some young readers. I warn my kids it gets pretty scary toward the end. Give this well written book to kids who like scary stories. The reading level is probably good 5th grade.
Rating: Summary: Great good fun Review: I have become a big fan of Nancy Farmer. I have liked every one of her books that I have read. This one is great fun and a really interesting look at people in a different culture. I notice that most of the other reviewers of this book are kids; I'm 50 and I loved it. When I was a kid, I read a lot of books set in England and became very familiar with the history and culture of that place. This book gives me a similar feeling about a very different setting - Africa.
Rating: Summary: WOW! I absolutely LOVED it, it has a wondeful storyline. Review: This book is one of the BEST I have ever read. It makes you think, what if? Is this what our world will become? I loved the plot, characters, story, I LOVED the WHOLE thing. It's absolutely, positivly MARVELOUS! I recommend it to EVERYONE, no matter how old you are, you'll treasure this book. I just can't praise it enough! Just go get a hold of a copy ANY WAY you can, and READ this spell-binding, enthralling, marvelous novel as soon as you possibly can!!!
Rating: Summary: positively DELICIOUS!!! Review: This book is an abosolutly superb tale written by a fine writter. The characters are easy to get attatched to, and the story is simply full of twists and turns that will delight you til the last page. I'm fourteen, but anyone of any age can appriciate what "The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm" has to offer. A must read for everyone!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic, wonderfully written. Review: The Ear, The Eye, and The Arm is a wonderfully written book. The characters are well- developed, but not boring. The story of Tendai's struggle to prove himself to his over-demanding father is realistic. The author has included the little details that make each character seem real. For example, Rita programming the robot to call Tendai and Kuda boboheads, it doesn't really have anyting to do with the story, but it shows Rita's character and makes the family seem real. In many other stories, the families seem perfect and the children are well behaved and obediant. This story, the children are real, they argue, they wait until their parents have left and then eat junk food for lunch. I would know, I'm a kid. I can also relate to Tendai, he and I both have a younger brother and sister, and I often have to be the voice of reason, even when the younger kids think I'm being a party-pooper. All in all, this book is realistic, descriptive, and by far the best book I've ever read.
Rating: Summary: This is the most fantastic book I have EVER read!!!!! Review: This book is so creative. I would vote it for being the best book ever written! If it was made into a movie, everyone would love it (Just like they love the book) It is a thriller and has so many new ideas! It is different from any other book. When I read it, I couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: I've never really read much sci-fi before (although currently I'm really into fantasy) but I heard that this was a good book and the story idea interested me. It was a very engaging book, I loved the imaginative things places; Resthaven, Mile High McIlwaine, Dead Man's Vlei, etc. Plus all the holo-things and robots. The Ear, the Eye and the Arm were pretty interesting, probably my favorite characters. A lot of the other characters were interesting too. I liked the humorous parts a lot, like that line "If you and I were alone on a dirt path, I wouldn't give a bent pin for your chance of survival." My only complaints are that I couldn't really get attached to the main characters;Tendai, but also Rita and Kuda. Also that it got a little long at times, they kept escaping from one group and getting trapped in another. And, last but not least, the whole spirit thing got a little old. Otherwise, this book is pretty good.
Rating: Summary: Not very good, but still OK. Review: the book is pretty good, but not great.the spirit stuff is so stupid.i mean, come on.they dont exist. the book is very hard to understand.
Rating: Summary: ¤*~A must read!!!! 1 million stars!~*¤ Review: I happen to love Zimbabwe more than anyone in New York. My friend Julia, lived in Zimbabwe for 8 years and I am one of her best friends. Then, we had to do a book on somthing, and I chose Zimbabwe! I even want to go to Zimbabwe! And also, last but not least, I have to do this report, and I chose the same year as the one in this book! Ok, now lets get to the point, I read the ear, the eye, and the arm in fourth grade (I am in fifth now) because of Julia. I really liked it a lot so I am reading it again in school. It is about 3 children, Rita Tendi and Kuda, and they want to earn a badge for a scout trip (exept Kuda because he is too young) and they go on this great adventure (which they didn't ask their parents if they can go) and then they get caught byt thses 2 guys, knife and fist, and they bring them to the awful she-elephant. Then, the parents find out their children are gone, and they send out detectives, the ear, the eye and the arm, all of them which have special abillities, to look for the children. The questions are... Will the children be found and be safley brought home? Read the book and find out.
