Summary: A wonderful novel mixed with horror and love.
Review: This is a novel about a jouney that a young lady takes to find out her grandmothers past. She finds out that her grandmother went through the holocaust. Within this novel Gemma the grandmother tell her grandchildren about the story of Briar Rose. She later finds out why this story is so important on her jouney. So go out and find this book and unlock the secret of Gemma's life.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A very good,heart-felt,mystery,but somewhat confusing.
Review: The present in the story and the flashbacks were very well written, but it was somewhat hard to understand how they both blended in together. The clues to finding how they blended together, were very hard to find. Everything else was very good though. It shows the reader that when you want to find anything, even if it's almost impossible to find, you'll find it if you don't lose hope and faith, and give-up.

Summary: Good book for people whho are new to the Holocaust
Review: Jane Yolen wonderfully connects the story of Sleeping Beauty with the Holocaust. She uses Gemma, a young woman who is aprehended for being Jewish. She is sent to the secret camp of Kulmhof where whe is tormented and finally gassed. But, she survives! In the deep trench filled with human carcasses, whe mangages to twitch and move. Partisans in the forest scrounge for survivors. They find her and bring her back to life. The rest of the story holds meticulous details of the holocaust and a woman in search of her grandmother's, Gemma's, roots. There are many exciting moments in this book and you will enjoy this book thoroughly. There are, though, some moments where the dialogue gets a little weak and poor. But don't stop reading--there's something waiting around the corner.

Summary: The Book was Exciting and fun to read!
Review: I think of this book as very good and very fun to read it makes you really want to read more and more and find out what is going to happen in the ending. This book really tells alot about the holocaust and how it connects to sleeping beaty. The book makes you realize the way it all worked out when the holocaust hit and how people were handled especially Jews. I really liked this book because it tells you the main parts of the holocaust and how it would feel like to be there. It tells you how some Jews survived in the jungle while others died in front of there faces. It tells about how Nazis acted towards Jews and how they said mean things to them! This story really tells about a girl trying to find out what her grandma did and where she lived, but all she could see was the story her grandma always repeated to her. So slowly she finds out and relizes her story was in her face all the time, the story of sleeping beaty and the story of the holocaust in one which was called 'Briar Rose' ! This is a must read!

Summary: It's a exciting story about a survivor of a Holocaust
Review: The story was really good because it have a lot of facts about the holocaust. It's written in a way so that you won't get bored through reading it. The story itself contains a lot of clues that would help you understand it more, so the more time you read the story, the more clues you will start to pick up, and the better you would understand the story and the actual events that occurred during the Holocaust. Even though this a good and unique thing about this book, but it would also be a bad thing for those people who don't have time to read a book more than once.

Summary: The book was a great mystery of a holocaust survivor.
Review: Briar Rose was a intresting story of a young woman who is trying to find out about her grandma's past. The first part of the story is a bit boring. Most readers will get confused with the flashbacks and real life of the story. It only adds up to the mystery of the story and comes together at the very end. Even though the book is fiction it does give some intresting facts about the holocaust that you probobly didn't know.

Summary: this book is the best
Review: BRIAR ROSE is the best . It kept me in suspense . It's more of a girl type book because most boy's wouldn't like to read about a girl trying to find about her grandma's past and where she was from and her real name. I give this book to thumbs up and recommend it to anyone who love books that keep you reading.

Summary: This book was too much like a fairy tale.
Review: I found it quite confusing. Her transitions between flashbacks were not always clear. The mystery was not solved, but told. On the very last page she reintroduced irrelevent characters. From my point of veiw this book had good content, but was often confusing.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Novel about holocaust survivor's relative
Review: The review you have posted is very lukewarm. This is, however, one of the most thought-provoking novels I have ever read about the holocaust, and young adults striving to integrate their heritage with the present. It does not paint a cheerful picture, yet the novel is full of hope and life.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Enchantingly spooky, and not exactly light-hearted...
Review: It's disturbing, but so exquisitely written, and so terribly real that it simply must be read. Basically it's a story that you don't want to hear, but told so prettily that you grit your teeth and endure it simply for the sake of the beauty of the telling
