Rating: Summary: Among the Barons Review: In the near future, the world is overpopulated, and running low on food. Families are only allowed to have two children. If anyone is caught with a third child, the parents will be arrested, and the child will be put to death. Luke Garner is a third child. He's been in hiding his whole life. One day while in his bedroom, he sees a child in an empty house across the street. Everyday Luke grew more curious, so he decieded to check it out. Luke snuck out of his house to see if it was another third child. It turned out to be a third child name Jen. Jen's father works for the Population Police. But he sabotages their work when ever he gets the chance. One day Jen went to a rally in Washington D.C. to free third children. But Jen never came back. Jen's father found a Luke a fake identity, so he wouldn't have to be in hiding anymore. But Luke also had to go to a prep school. When Luke gets to Hendricks School for Boys, he discovers hes not the only third child. This book is Luke's third year at Hendricks. This year Luke gets to go home to his fake family. He finds out how Lee Grant(Luke's fake idenity) died. Luke discovers more secrets than he wanted to know about the Grants. I liked this book a lot, and thought it was very exciting.
Rating: Summary: A tense thriller Review: Margaret Peterson Haddix's Among The Barons joins others in the Barons series but provides a seamless introduction to the concept and settings, requiring no prior experience to enjoy. Just when Luke has begun to relax, safe in his new assumed identity which protects him from death, his 'brother' shows up to threaten his freedom. As a third child in a society which allows only two children per family, Luke has a stake in finding out why his assumed brother is playing the game of knowing him in this tense thriller.
Rating: Summary: A Book That You Won't Want To Put Down Review: Margaret Peterson Haddix's book Among the Barons is simply amazing! Being the 4th book in the series about "shadow children" it keeps you guessing till the very end. Believe me, once you pick up this book you won't wan't to put it down. Haddix's writing makes you feel like you're actually in the story! All in all this book is a have to read , never wan't to put down book!
Rating: Summary: Great book, as they all have been so far... Review: Okay, I just finished reading this book, it was really great. And Im getting sad that there is only 1 more book left to the serious, I wonder if it will go on from then.. anyways, This book has to be one of the best, it introduced more of the outside world and showed more characters.. such as Smits.. I personally favored him ;) And this story took attention *People like me usually dont like to read, but these *Shadow Children* books are like me with the harry potter books, they make me want to read them.... they are that good.. If you like adventure, suspense, and action all in one this book is for you.. (If you loved the first 2, you'll love this one!)
Rating: Summary: Among the Barons Review: The book Among the Barons is the fouth book in a series about a boy named Luke. Luke is the third child in his family, making him illegal under the laws of his day. He is living at Hendrick's School for Boys under the fake I.D. of Lee Grant. There are lots of other third children at Hendricks, all with fake I.D.'s. In this book, Luke (Lee)'s "brother", Smithfield Grant, comes to Hendrick's. Smithfield (a.k.a Smits) is a real member of the very rich Grant. Eventually, Lee and Smits are taken back to the Grant house due to dangerous happenings at the school, although Luke has no idea why the Grants want anything to do with him after ignoring him for months before. Soon, Luke finds out that he is just a pawn in the Grant's game for more power and money, and they plan to stage his death, and send him back into hiding from the Government, like he did before he got his fake I.D. Among the Barons is a very good book, but the first three in the series should be read first for full understanding. It also probably shouldn't be read be little kids because of some 'scary' element (fires, people being killed, etc.).
Rating: Summary: I was on the edge of my seat! Review: The whole time I was reading this book I was on the edge of my seat! It is so fantastic! It was suspenseful, trickey, humorus, and a good book in all. I didn't think that it was going to turn out the way it did, but it did. It was so crazy. And the charecters were no help. Usually I can tell who did it, but this time I didn't have a clue. And when I did guess who it was, I was wrong!
Rating: Summary: Margaret Peterson Haddix has done it again Review: This book has to be my favorite book of the triligy. Even though barons are very shallow it was a good story but before you read this book you must read the first three. They are:"Among the Hidden,"Among the Imposters," and "Among the Betrayed." I can't wait to read "Among the Brave." I hope you will take my advice and read this series. This is how Margaret Peterson Haddix became my favorite author and hope she'll be yours to.
Rating: Summary: the best book in the shadow children series Review: this book is the best i thought it was awsome when nina, trey, joel, and jhon see luke at the party. i also thought it was weird on how the ermergency escape didn't go up to the fourth floor i didn't buy this book i got it from my language arts teacher mrs.Estes.
Rating: Summary: Video Gamer X's review for among the barons Review: This is the fourth and best book in the among the series. Luke or Lee grant has discovered he has a brother named smits. Smits is very dangerous and may get luke killed but lukes friend like trey and nina dont notice smits crying. Do they? Luke took smits brother Id look is the only thing of smits has left of Lee. Could OScar Smits dangerous body guard relize it or still trying to find out what happened to the Real Lee Grant. When I heard about among the brave the fith book of among the, I rushed to pre order it. My Language arts teacher ms.cantu is reading them out loud to us but I went a head and read them all to my self. I think the series is going to end soon and not end up like the wheel of time witch the 10th book just came out in november. I hope you enjoyed my review - Jim (Video Gamer X)
