Rating: Summary: more of the same, more of the same, more of... Review: <sigh> It's sad, really. Terry Brooks has penned some mildly entertaining, albeit not very original, stories in his day, but with each passing novel they grow worse and worse. Now, rather than imitate the-author-who-will-remain-nameless, it seems as if he is imitating *himself*, making for some very poor, and very boring reading.Unless you are one of the slathering Terry-Brooks-can-do-no-wrong fans, I'd suggest skipping this over. Brooks has not improved over the years, and has in fact grown worse, despite what his utterly-devoted-cult will tell you.
Rating: Summary: Thus the Tale Concludes... Review: The heros, for the most part, have or are pretty close to finishing their orders given by the shade of Allanon, the last druid. But now comes the hard part, figuring out how they are going to triumph with everything they have accomplished. Rimmer Dall, the head of the greatest evil- Shadowen knows this and strives to make one last plan to not onlt keep the heros apart from each other but to destroy each of them. The epic quest struggles to overcome the obstacles laid oput before them. And hard leassons are learned once again. The heros once no more then children or childish or now men and women- responsible and mature. But their character stays with them, not left behind like so many other books do. This book is packed with excitement, advanture, and danger- a book that if you don't read won't be the publisher's lost but your own lost.
Rating: Summary: The Tailsmans of Shannara Review: From what I have seen is seems like a good book, although I seldom read a book that is not any good.
Rating: Summary: Have a laxative Review: Honestly, this book made me nauseous. While I enjoyed the first three Shannara books, especially the second, this entire new series really turned me off to Terry Brooks in general, as it seems he was milking this for more than he`s worth. All four books could`ve been condensed into a novella; though it probably would have been no pleasanter, at least it would have been mercifully quick. As it is, I slogged through nearly 1000 pages worth of Four Lands mud, blood, and monsters, with dialogue taking a permanent back seat. There was one cheerful moment in the entire series, and that was in the first two pages. The characters were Brook`s typical archetypes with all the verve sucked out of them, and none of them has so much as a smattering of a sense of humor. Basically, this book is for people who feel like a good depression would be right up their alley, or for students who want to work up a headache so they can miss school the next day
Rating: Summary: Great Adventure!!! Review: I am in the sixth grade and borrowed this book from the library for a book report. My teacher didn't think I could finish it, but I did! This was a great book, one of the best books I've ever read. It's a good idea in the beginning to take notes to keep track of the characters (because their are many) but other than that it was excellant! I'm thinking about eventually buying the whole set of Shannara books. If you like adventure and fantasy, this is great.
Rating: Summary: Absoluely Incredible. Review: I could not get over this book. Terry Brooks is a master fantasy author, and I could really feel myself relating to all of the characters, especially Walker Boh. At points in the book I had a knot in my stomach that was so bad I could not put the book down, because I wanted to find out what happened to under-seige Walker Boh and taken-hostage Wren Elessidil. This book was miraculous. Read it.
Rating: Summary: BAD BAD BAD Review: I don't care what people will tell you a bout this book....It's bad. I've waited for 5 years to read it after the publisher here in israel went bank robed and what a waset of money. The characters lose their magic, the plot's disapearing and the ending was so stuipd that only out of respect to the writer after reading "Running with demones" I haven't trowe it out of the window. I tell you leave it there's better books around.
Rating: Summary: Great ending ,to a great series. Review: I have been quite satisfied by The Heritage of Shannara. It has turned out to be just as good as the first series, but in some different ways. Finally, everything comes out suspensfully satisfying in the end. Par is definately one of the best characters ever.He has so much conflict within him ,and his love with Damson is so vivid. He developes tons through the series ,as do Walker,Morgan, and Wren. Even though I'm not the greatest fan of fight scenes,I have to say,Walker's struggle with the Four Horsemen is one of the greatest fight scene's in all literature. It's up there with the Fellowship of the Ring's struggle in Moria, with Risca's battle with the Northland Army, with the spectacular Dave Duncan scenes, with all those scenes in Dragonlance. It's truly the most exciting part in the book. I was glad to see that Morgan finally got his girl. After his devastating experience with Quickening,it was nice to see him happy. The Sword of Shannara has been found, the Elves have returned,Walker has become a Druid, all the tasks which Allanon commanded to the Scions of Shannara have been completed. Now Rimmer Dall, leader of the Shadowen plans a fate for each of them.He sets his army against Wren,he sends the Four Horsemen against Walker, and to Par,to Par he sends a fate of terror beyond imagining......................
Rating: Summary: Still reading, but liking it very much Review: I haven't read all of this book but I am liking it very much. I enjoyed the other Shannara books as well.
Rating: Summary: it is the greatest book he has wrigth!!!!! Review: I just say that the Talisman of Shannara is the best book in the world, but even the other books are great!!!!! From Peter of Elessedil.
