Rating: Summary: Well written, but far from imaginative or orignal Review: I like the way Terry Brooks writes, however, the story line is a little too similar to The Lord of the Rings. Actually, it's almost identical. To his credit, Brooks writes very well, but this book isn't that creative. Skullbearers? Come on. Not a bad read if you haven't read Tolkien, but then again, if you haven't read Tolkien, don't bother yet with any other fantasy writer.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: One of the worlds best fantasy books. I have never read one like it before!!!!
Rating: Summary: The best book I have ever read Review: Terry brooks is the best fantacy writer. This book is origanal and has you on the edge of your seat. In some places it may slow but it picks back up to speed in minutes. It tells of several journeys and many different races. You have to read this book.
Rating: Summary: Best fantasy book I have ever read! Review: I actually read this book about 10 years ago when I was a teenager. It was the first fantasy book I ever read, and I think the best! Since then I've read Eddings, Feist, Goodkind, Jordan, etc, etc, but Brooks is still my favorite. Truly awesome.
Rating: Summary: A VERY good book!! Except for one thing... Review: If you ever read " The Lord of the Rings ", then read this book, you'll notice something. Did you ever think of Gollum when you read about Orl Fane? Here are some other similarities: Allanon- Gandalf, Shea-Frodo, Black Oak's-Mirkwood, Culhaven-Rivendell, Warlock Lord-Sauron, Skull Bearer's-Ringwraiths, Balinor-Aragorn. And there are sooo many others! Other than that, though, it was a great read!
Rating: Summary: Super good book! Great detail. Review: This book is so good I couldn't put it down and I'm only ten.Very gripping. You feel like your in the book with Shea and Flick Ohmsford.I highly reccomend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: the best fantasy novel after "the lord of the rings" Review: I read this book in a week. I was in the forest with Shea and all the other guys, elvs and dwarves. I suggest to read it listening "symphony of enchanted lands", the last Rhapsody compact disc.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely the BEST! Review: A book that expresses the themes of willpower and perserverence stronger than any other of the hundreds of books I have read! The symbolism and messages in this book are sure to make anyone think and to conjure forth every emotion from tragic sadness to tearjerking, triumphant happiness. The reference to illusion makes one really think about what is real, and the climax is sure to make one reflect on the interpretations of others upon them relative to that of their own. In my opinion, the BEST of the Shannara books, and THE BEST book I have ever read. Words cannot say enough about this epic tale which has immortally left its legacy upon me. If you never read another book in your life, read this one!
Rating: Summary: Written so well its like being there! Review: The Sword of Shannara is a fantasy masterpiece. It has a fantastic story and the characters are so well developed its beyond description. Terry Brooks has a writing style which lets you feel the characters emotion. He is so good that you actually feel that you are part of the story. His descriptions allow you to visualize everything that is going on in this epic story. I first read the book 15 years ago and to this day it remains my favorite fantasy sci-fi book. You can't put this one down.
Rating: Summary: Shea has to defend the world against the warlocklord. Review: This book is about a boy named Shea Omosford who has to journey to Druid Fort to get the Sword of Shannara. Once he does that he must destroy the Warlocklord an evil man who was Once a druid but know is using them to try to trying to destroy the four lands. This book is a great book to read and it runs along with all the books of the Shannara series. This book was the first but it is now the second in the Shannara books because of the new book, The Frist King of Shannara wicth is also a wonderful book to read.
