Rating: Summary: Please, please. Sick. Review: Look. I have been a fan of Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings since I was in the third grade. It has been my absolutely favorite book since I first read it. Tolkien's touch was beautiful. And now, I had to read this book. It was odd. Allanon. How like he is to Gandalf. Everything exactly the same. Except for the important magic of skilled writing. They go to Culhaven or whatever. Just like Rivendell. What is Terry Brooks thinking of? People who say that story doesn't matter, even though it is obviously a copy of LoTR (anyone who is mature enough to really read must see it) I must say, who cares if the author is a great writer? Just writing doesn't make up a book. Story is important too. You can't just copy somebody else's wonderful story plot by plot and expect to be called a wonderful writer. If Terry Brooks was just a fan of LoTR, he should have been more subtle, at least, in getting ideas from it. Really, Christopher Tolkien should sue.
Rating: Summary: There is no better book. Review: The "Sword of Shannara" is the greatest book ever to be written. I never put it down. I read it in school, home, and at work. I finished it in about 6 1/2 days. I absolutely loved it. I think you should buy this and more I'm currently on "The Elfstones of Shannara." I just started But I LOVE IT. Buy this book and youll read it over, and over...
Rating: Summary: I love them all! Review: Terry Brooks is the best epic fantasy writer that I have ever read or heard about. With all respect to J.R.R. Tolkien, these books are a lot faster paced and more riveting. Terry Brooks, if you are reading this, write more Landovers but more importantly, more Shannarras!!! I just finished reading all of the books from both series and I love them. To all you Brooksaholics, I understand your love of these fantastic series!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: My quest for adventure began with this story !!! Review: With vibarant detail and rich characters, this is a story that will spark the imagination and draw you into a world of magic and adventure. This is my number one suggestion to anyone that thirsts for a masterfully told adventure. This book will make you wish that you were an Ohmsford.
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Great story! Review: I enjoyed this book, the charaters were interesting. It was a great and exciting story and never boring! I recomend you read it!
Rating: Summary: If you like it you must a fool Review: This is plagarism of Lord Of The Rings. Tolkiens kid should try to sue this guy. Read the reviews that rated it highly: a 12 year old, a college student that's only read 2 books... Nuff said.
Rating: Summary: An Amazing Tale of Adventure and Action Review: This book started a little slow, and the reading was boring, leading you to doubt Terry Brooks abillities as a published author. However, as the companionship progresses from Cullhaven, the action and story culminate into a successful and rewarding ending that leaves you very satisfied.
Rating: Summary: The best book Review: First of all, this book rocked! The story line was great. The plot was well developed. There was plenty of suspense. The battle scenes were well discribed. Even though most of the characters died, it was the best book I have ever read! Even though some good guys turned out to be bad, if I could give it 100 stars, I would them to it.
Rating: Summary: You'll love this book if you love fantacy! Review: I loved this book, course I loved all the Shannara series and the Heretage of Shannara. I like the Elfs and the other races. They just interest me. Some may not like gnomes or dwarfs, but I do. I thought the plot and the story line were very well done.
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING!!!! Review: Terry Brooks has a huge fan club, and now you know why. This book is thoughtful and full of mystery. Shea is the reluctant hero and Menion Leah is the would be hero. A lot of the characters have reversed rolls and that is one of the many strong points of this book, you not sure who is going to do whats next. Mr. Brooks in my opinion is one of the best fantasy writers ever. I have read all but 2 of his books and that is only temporary. I have them and will get to them as soon as I can stop rereading the others.
