Summary: Great Book
Review: This is a great book and a must read. It introduces you to the world of pern, and makes the rest of the series a little bit more understandible.

Summary: A book I will always cherish
Review: I really and truly believe that this is one of the best books I have ever read. In the past 2-3 months, I have read Dragonflight, Dragonquest, The White Dragon, Moreta:Dragonlady of Pern, Nerilka's Story, Dragonsdawn, The Renegades of Pern, All the Weyrs of Pern, The Dolphins of Pern, Dragonseye, and The Masterharper of Pern, and this book was THE best! It is a great way to start the series, and I have already gotten a few of my friends hooked on the series. I will always cherish Dragonflight, and will keep it forever, if I can get it back from whoever is currently reading it. A wonderful book for science-fiction and fantasy lovers!

Summary: A competent novel
Review: Anne McCaffrey's novel dragonflight can be a treat for those interested in light hearted fare that is a break from the hordes of epic and complex storylines currently running throughout science fiction and fantasy. Others however, may seek more meatier fare.

Her characters are fair and she paints them well but none spark the imagination nor stayed with me after I finished the novel. Perhaps when first published, her strong heroine was a novelty and I'm a decade or two too late to appreciate the protagonist. Instead, I found the character unsympathetic and cared little for her fate.

The more interesting characters were the dragons and McCaffrey describes them fairly. Somehow though, a majesty she tries to impart falls a bit flat. Regardless, she does drive home to the reader the joy of riding one. other descriptions are also vividly portrayed.

Action is sparse indeed and often unexciting. perhaps that is the greatest problem I found with the novel. There are few conflicts that felt worth the time to read and see resolved. Even battle with the threads seemed flat despite the build up. The final method for resolution probably has something to do with this dissapointment as well.

Ultimately, Dragonflight seems a good attempt but not the fare of on seeking epic conflict nor a stirring read.

Summary: Wow! Incredible imagination compiled into one book!!
Review: I was blown away by the incredible believability of the daring feat Lessa attempts in this book and amazed by how very possible it seems. If you have not read this book, you have to be crazy, because you are missing out.

Summary: Starting at the beginging-a must read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This is my fourth book I've read of "the Dragonriders of Pern" series. I first read Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern then The White Dragon. I have to say I should of read this one first, it gets me all mixed up. But....I found the connections easily and remmbered many characters. This one HAS to be read FIRST! DO NOT ignore this message!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Really, Really, REALLY good!
Review: Dragonflight is about PERN when thread hasn't fallen in 400 years. I really liked the book and I love Lessa's character. I think people who read the book think the way Lessa is childish and silly. I personally think that if F'lar wasn't always saying how awful she was it would never occur to you. I also don't really like the way F'lar treats Lessa all of the time. He fell in love with her after Ramoth's flight, not just because of herself, so I don't think that the way she snubbed him should be used against her character.

Summary: You will believe dragons can fly!
Review: Recently, I reread this, the first of the many McCaffrey dragonovels, and it simply is as disarmingly charming and intriguing as it was all those years ago at first reading. While in the more recent books, there is a noted maturity and a most gracious depth to the Dragonlady's writing, the earlier stories enjoy a simplicity and guileless innocence that just isn't quite the same contemporarily, wonderful as the later books are. Lessa and F'lar are quite unforgettable characters and their cuddly reptilian mounts are none the less. A delightful and entirely satisfying read.

Summary: A well written, beautiful story- everything byMcCaffrey is..
Review: I simply don't know how Anne McCaffrey does it! She spins a realistic, believable fantasy world around the reader, full of suspense, excitement, romance, beauty, and intricate story lines that NEVER contradict each other. It is very dificult to handle the effects of time travel, yet McCaffrey does it with ease and grace. Her characters are believable, as is everything about her remarkable books. These books are a must-read for any fantasy fan!

Summary: one of the best books I've read in a long time
Review: This is the best, and the only book by McCaffrey I have read compleatly, book I have read in a long time, and I've been reading for a while. I am currently in the middle of Dragonquest and its almost as good, I also hope to read The White Dragon when I get done

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: WOW! Wonderful!
Review: This book is , like all the others GREAT! TIm 12 years old and just started this year I read the Masterharper of Pern first and then this. I would suggest you buy both at the same time, and read masterharper first becasue it explains what is happening before this one. But you need this one to understand the words you don't know like turns , pass , wyer , impress , ect. I knew a few because there was an short story in out language arts book. Id suggest this to almost anyone. The only flaw I can find is that it might be to old for kids my age. And the Harper hall seris is only three and DRAGONDRUMS just doesn't live up to my expectations. It takes a while to get in to. anyone who wants to can email me cause i need someone to talk to
