Summary: So-so story...
Review: I'm sorry, but all of these 5 star ratings for this book seem a little overblown. I purchased this book based on these reviews, and quite frankly, I was disappointed. What was so "gripping" and fascinating about this book? Someone PLEASE explain that to me. The book was okay at best. The characters weren't well developed and in fact, I couldn't figure out why Lessa did some of the dumb spiteful things she did. Nor could I figure out why F'lar cared about her. The story was not tension-filled, gripping, or all that exciting to be honest. It was a decent story of a group of people trying to save their world from an attack by threads. Unfortunately, the story was told in a lackluster manner that elicited little emotion from me other than wanting to hurry up and complete the book. I have to give the author credit for being creative in coming up with the world in which these people live, but the story itself was average at best. Would I recommend it, No.

Summary: Gripping beginning of a generation of beloved characters!
Review: When I picked up a tattered version of Dragonflight in Middle School, I hadn't a clue what I was getting into. The plot was intense, the story fantastically real and the characters unbelieveably real. I have since bought the entire series of the Dragonriders of Pern and each one has been a great new facet of life on Pern and the challenges they faced. A whole new realm has opened up in science fiction, and once again, Anne McCaffrey has led the way.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A total page turner!
Review: I could not put this book down! McCaffrey just drags you right into the book with her characters and the settings. I just fell in love with F'lar and Lessa, along with their dragons. You can sense the attraction between them all right away. And Lessa is the perfect example of a female. She's strong, beautiful, and F'lar can't get enough of her. This book has everything that a book needs, and it's worth all 300 odd pages. I suggest this novel to anyone who enjoys a little romance and passion in their fantasy books.

Summary: McCaffery's Best Book!
Review: This is /the/ Pern book. All the others are extreme letdowns, but this one is a must read. Everything that really makes up a good story makes up this book: Action, adventure, revenge, love, dragons, you name it, "Dragonflight" has it! Not to mention F'lar... If you don't read it, you're missing out on a spectacular adventure of a lifetime.

Summary: Truly amazing. I finished it in no time.
Review: This is such a great book. I read the some of the comments about this book on here and about all of them said Dragonflight is a must read, so I went out and got the book. I finished the book in one day. That's how good it is. I'd definitely return to Dragonflight again and again. The dragons Anne McCaffrey created are absolutely marvellous. I'm reading Dragonquest right now and can't wait to read the rest of the books in this Pern series.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best Fantasy/Sci-fi book I've ever read!
Review: What a book! Since I'm only 12 years old, I thought that Dragonflight was going to be too hard to read and to keep up with. But the more I read, the better it got and the easier it was.

The characters were amazing! Lessa and F'lar made a wonderful team. Including the rest of the characters to help move the story along.

The plot was absolutly awsome! As I recall, other authors try to make things as simple as possible. But, McCaffrey seemed to go out of her way to make Dragonflight complicated, creative, and confusing.

I encourage everyone, including kids to try this book. I did and I will never regret it!

Summary: It's a great book!!!
Review: I started to read this book for school and now I am wanting to read the rest of the Pern Novels! After reading this book you will have an appreciation for Dragons. All I can say is that I loved this book and don't know how anyone can not like!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It is a great book!
Review: This book is wonderful! I've read most of the Pern Series now, and I must admit that it is one of my favorites!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of my favorite Sci-Fi books!
Review: Dragonflight is one of the best sci-fi books I have ever read. It was the first Pern book I read. I stayed up all night to finish it. I couldn't put it down. Part of this book's charm was the way you got to know Pern and its people almost as if you lived there. By the time I finished the book, I felt like I was a dragonrider. It is a must-read for any serious sci-fi reader.
